They were all fantastic characters. Captain Furillo was the rare archetypal leader who actually went to bat for his people. He was beloved and respected, but the character also had depth that came from private vulnerability.
I still love this show. I watched it all the time when I was little. I think it has been a great influence in my desire to go into Law Enforcement. Thanks for the clip.
Still got to me as well ...yes indeed. Hill Street Blues was about hope and sadness in a bleak environment from which not even the best of them could escape. Sweetly sad and beautifully executed. A great show that will endure long after its time.
Thanks for the clip have you any more?in i have some of season 2, 3 and 4 recorded on DVD but cant upload because DVD won't play on laptop. Channel 4 arent showing it now at the moment and i am missing my nightly fix.
I used to watch this show when I was a kid with my dad and loved it. Now Im 34, and have been a Police Officer for 13 years... that is a HORRIBLE car stop, you never pull in front of the car and never..ever..ever leave your partner, I guess this was before they hired ex cops to be advisors.

The show was only second to The Wire.

This series showed that there is often a frail human(with the same emotions, fears, ect) being behind the badge.

Bologna, you have to leave your partner if suspects split up (ie run different directions). What dept do you work for? Is it the city of Mayberry?
