Interesting you said you went off by yourself as a kid. I'm told I did that, too, though I was too young to remember it. It's been a long process for me to figure out my difference from most others. I've been really fascinated with the idea of how computers integrate into society most of my life. Some suggested that "techie nerds" often had Aspergers syndrome. I tried taking a test for that and came up "normal." So much for that idea. INT something or other seems to fit, though.
Thanks for posting! The more I start to look at INTP I find it only kind of fits. I hear a lot of "social" differences. At my core I am INxP with t one day e the next. I do however have a big social tool box. If no one answered your subscribers question it means two people are getting updates and watching what your posting.
I wonder if personality tests measure what you do, not what you are. I always score INTP if I answer questions in a general way, but I can get other scores if I think how I behave when I'm working in a specific area. That is my opinion today.
I've considered the fluctuations, but the thing you aren't seeing is the function. I am an INTP also. Imagine as if you were going THROUGH the fact that the questions are there- they are simply a proponent to stimulate parts of your brain that in default, function iaccordingly. From my general experience most women tend to be emotional to the point of it clouding their pursuits (especially in the existential/questioning reality sphere). I have only met maybe 2 other women that experience the same depth as myself, but many men who could relate. Maybe it has to do with being a female and being approached more, i'm not sure, but I've never had a group of female friends... one or two at a time.
I can definitely relate to the avoidance of social drama... it's almost like it bounces right off of me anymore. I need more stimulation, fighting doesn't do for me what it seems to do for most people. It just makes me recoil.

Im currently thinking about whether INTP girls are significantly different from INTP boys. Maybe for each type, there should be a female and a male version... which may provide some additional information. INTP females appear a bit more extroverted than males, but also being an INTP girls must be hard sometimes. By the way being an I doesn't necessarely mean that you cant stand beeing around people. It just drains your energy and you have to spend some time alone...
from what I've seen, 90% of youtubers actually have no idea what the personality types mean. They just read the initials and descriptive text that comes with it and think that's it. There is so much more to Myers Briggs than meats the eye. To really know how each personality type is, you have to analyse their functions. A personality type isn't a label carved on stone. People have a "default setting", but can "mimic" other types just as well, only that it will drain their energy a lot. :)
Your comment doesn't come off as overly INTP either. Anyways INTPs love to place objects, events and people into categories that simplify and explain when referenced against each other. "She is an Aryan", "I am an INTP", etc. The MBTI measures preferences, not ability, so testing INTP is no guarantee you are a genius, and might mean you come to very wrong conclusions and build a warped system when measured against reality.

MBTI is about preferences. Your prefered functions. An INTP is someone with the prefered functions of Introverted Thinking, Extroverted Intuition, Introverted Sensing, Extroverted Feeling; in that order. In your childhood years you are developing your preferences. In your teen years you are developing your primary and auxilliary functions. As you get older, you will develop other functions as you become a well rounded individual - I would suggest you are doing very well. Im INTP too :)

Why is the idea ridiculous? A reductionist view is the most logical. We are all made of the same essence wherein our differences are limited to a certain point. Uniqueness in its truest definition is impossible, as to be unique would make us non-human.

My thoughts are the result of my specific biology combined with my specific life experience, there is only one person who has these, its me. Your idea works if you only include abstract ideas and generalizations, but there is a lot more to thought than that. My subjective experience makes me unique, not necessarily good, or bad, but undoubtedly unique.
Your thoughts are a result of your experiences within your environment, which are ever-changing and indeed unique as fragments of passing history. So even if we assume for argument's sake that it is possible to have a unique thought that arose from your experiences, that thought is still a product of external factors; not your own personal being. A different person in your exact place may well have the same thought, as if most often the case already.
I don't see how that's even relevant in this context. Whether uniqueness in humans would be good, bad or neutral is inconsequential to the question of whether it exists.
The way you explain yourself you seem more like an enfp in my opinion. i think intps are more noticeably shy in front of a camera besides you dont come across as cold or brief.
@Prism12220 ENFPs are shy but they have a more playful air, they often giggle and have a real timid yet playful tone in their voice (can be a bit difficult to get serious with). She has a more confident air about her (which may give the impression of being an INTJ) and those sharp yet relaxed eyes, definitely tell me she is an INTx.

The hardest thing for me is talking with other people, I can never seem to get their interest and they often ignore me after i try talking with them for a few minutes. A small brook separated us, which they'd drink from, standing in a parting between the weeping willows just a few feet away from me. that test is only a reference, not neccesarily a reality. Mod can change for something so simple as your philosophy, experiences, and chemical disorders. Personality can also change by a hit on your head or mental illness.

I'm an INFP and one of my best friends is an INTP. Everything you talk about is how I feel. I love to think about stuff and write stories more than hang out with people although I love company. People seem to think I'm weird. Like I have friends but it never really gets anywhere because I'm always thinking about something. I interact more with my friends from back home because we joke about random stuff because it's more fun than talking about normal everyday things.
I was surprised to see lectures on Leibniz, and Satre, and Schopenhauer, and Nietzsche on Youtube. You might be interested in these. Just type their names. I used to think the only things on Youtube were car wrecks and puppies playing the piano, but there are fairly sophisticated things on youtube if you know where to find them.
You are so cute ;). I can relate to most of what you said about your school years. After looking back on them, I've realized that most of the troubles I had in fact allowed me to grow and develop in ways I most likely wouldn't have had I not had difficulty socially or within myself. Perhaps but how many permutations of available thought processes and emotions can you have, in an individual's lifetime? If there are a trillion pre-formed possible thoughts that might cross a person's mind at any given time, their combination, timing, and stimulus does make us all unique. I am an optimist, and I do believe in the possibility of novelty in every individual.

You made a very nice video here, I know I would be too introverted to even make a video of myself talking. I agree that MBTI only describes the basics, and then we have all of our own personality details on top of that. But it at least gives us a basis to understand why and how us INTPs work.
The test could (probably) is right what you've experienced is the awakening of your Auxiliary process. That is something that no one talks about. Introverts are gifted with this Wonderful Process, which allows us to live, work and function in an Extro-Dominate society....I am a HAPPY INTJ.

INTP and INTJ both largely exibit either Idiosyncratic or Solitary personality types, both being very different as one is rational and another mystical.
Hello I took the test and I came up as an INTJ. I'm thinking second thoughts about you being an INTP considering you keep on showing introverted feeling which INTP's don't even have. Even with that an INTP has extroverted feeling last. If you are in fact an INTP your introverted thinking is especially weak. From my perspective I see you as a ISFP. Of course I may be wrong in my course of action.

I completely agree with the "fundamental me" you mention. My friend took the test and had trouble with the "gray areas"... Feeling neither introverted nor extroverted, for example. In my opinion, this is a good thing. If you are a Thinking type with very undeveloped and immature Feeling, you're bound to run into many problems. I'm an INTJ but identify with ambiversion, and have recently been overwhelmed with deep explorations of my Fi. I'm also at times highly focused on entertaining others.

Heres something I find really interesting to do. Take the test for a close friend and see how close you come to identifying them in comparison to what they think of themselves. I'm a INTJ, quite similar to a INTP. I would say my result is remarkably true to life, as you say in terms of the 'fundamental' me. I'm a quiet confident person, who likes to play with ideas in my mind. Two out of four of my closest friends labeled me a INTJ, the others labeled me a INTP.
I also did the test and got the INTP result, I digged into the information I could get and I pretty much thought "Hey, this is me!" or something close to that. I don't really fit into the crowd, neither do I feel attracted to being in one. I liked the video, getting people's personal experiences and opinions is always fun to hear, I feel mostly the same from day to day, though more melancholical maybe.
I just took a personality test because I was bored and found out that I was INTP. It's crazy but I feel like I connect with these people because I've gone through the SAME EXACT thing, bein the loner lost in his/her thoughts, logical, all that. INTP AND PROUD OF IT!
As an 21 y.o. INTP man, let me let loose a wild theory: Personally, I suspect that the challenges faced my INTP men and INTP women are of the same magnitude - but in different areas: INTP women can get away with being passive, but they have to fight the whole "not being emotional enough" issue as you pointed out. INTP men can get away with not being emotional enough, but they have to fight the whole "not being aggressive/outgoing enough" issue. Just a random idea.
@gyromeister89, when it comes to attraction INTP women have it easy. If you're hot it doesn't matter to most men what you're personality is like. If you're a man a lot of what attracts most women is a polar opposite to your nature. You can work on it but you'll never be as natural as someone who's wired that way.
@gyromeister89 I totally agree with you, at least on the male side, as I'm an INTP male. My T function is pretty well accepted by fellow male friends, but not so much my I, or even my N really. I guess my P is pretty accepted too, as I have many perceptive friends. The only time I do have trouble with my T function is with my girlfriend, who is an extreme F, so it makes quite a communication barrier. But like I said, other than that, the T is pretty "normal" I guess.
People need to understand that "not being aggressive/outgoing enough" doesn't make a person a doormat, which is a bad thing to be for men and women. We get our strength from within, as well as our justifications, so we can guide and maintain ourselves without the need for the whole "aggressive/outgoing" thing.
The examples of INTP individuals should be enough to support this idea. Socrates, Darwin, and Jefferson were hardly doormats. Hell, Socrates was the original gadfly!

Interesting you said you went off by yourself as a kid. I'm told I did that, too, though I was too young to remember it. It's been a long process for me to figure out my difference from most others. I've been really fascinated with the idea of how computers integrate into society most of my life. Some suggested that "techie nerds" often had Aspergers syndrome. I tried taking a test for that and came up "normal." So much for that idea. INT something or other seems to fit, though.

Thanks for posting! The more I start to look at INTP I find it only kind of fits. I hear a lot of "social" differences. At my core I am INxP with t one day e the next. I do however have a big social tool box. If no one answered your subscribers question it means two people are getting updates and watching what your posting.

I wonder if personality tests measure what you do, not what you are. I always score INTP if I answer questions in a general way, but I can get other scores if I think how I behave when I'm working in a specific area. That is my opinion today.

I've considered the fluctuations, but the thing you aren't seeing is the function. I am an INTP also. Imagine as if you were going THROUGH the fact that the questions are there- they are simply a proponent to stimulate parts of your brain that in default, function iaccordingly. People fluctuate, always. A great example is Bill gates- an INTP who invented, and then took the role of an ENTJ businessman. BUT, as soon as he could, he stepped down. everyone fluctuates, but everyone also has a default

From my general experience most women tend to be emotional to the point of it clouding their pursuits (especially in the existential/questioning reality sphere). I have only met maybe 2 other women that experience the same depth as myself, but many men who could relate. Maybe it has to do with being a female and being approached more, i'm not sure, but I've never had a group of female friends... one or two at a time.

I can definitely relate to the avoidance of social drama... it's almost like it bounces right off of me anymore. I need more stimulation, fighting doesn't do for me what it seems to do for most people. It just makes me recoil.
And I also find it difficult to socialize with women. Now that I really consider it, I wonder if maybe I am a T. .

And i would like to say something more to you: Knowing your type is a great discovery and the key to improve your weaknesses as well as understand other people which for me wasn't possible until i got a bit into the MBTI (im an INTP male). Im currently thinking about whether INTP girls are significantly different from INTP boys. Maybe for each type, there should be a female and a male version... which may provide some additional information. INTP females appear a bit more extroverted than males, but also being an INTP girls must be hard sometimes. By the way being an I doesn't necessarely mean that you cant stand beeing around people. It just drains your energy and you have to spend some time alone...

from what I've seen, 90% of youtubers actually have no idea what the personality types mean. They just read the initials and descriptive text that comes with it and think that's it. There is so much more to Myers Briggs than meats the eye. To really know how each personality type is, you have to analyse their functions. A personality type isn't a label carved on stone. People have a "default setting", but can "mimic" other types just as well, only that it will drain their energy a lot. :)

Your comment doesn't come off as overly INTP either. Anyways INTPs love to place objects, events and people into categories that simplify and explain when referenced against each other. "She is an Aryan", "I am an INTP", etc. The MBTI measures preferences, not ability, so testing INTP is no guarantee you are a genius, and might mean you come to very wrong conclusions and build a warped system when measured against reality.

MBTI is about preferences. Your prefered functions. An INTP is someone with the prefered functions of Introverted Thinking, Extroverted Intuition, Introverted Sensing, Extroverted Feeling; in that order. In your childhood years you are developing your preferences. In your teen years you are developing your primary and auxilliary functions. As you get older, you will develop other functions as you become a well rounded individual - I would suggest you are doing very well. Im INTP too :)

So even if we assume for argument's sake that it is possible to have a unique thought that arose from your experiences, that thought is still a product of external factors; not your own personal being. A different person in your exact place may well have the same thought, as if most often the case already.

@Prism12220 ENFPs are shy but they have a more playful air, they often giggle and have a real timid yet playful tone in their voice (can be a bit difficult to get serious with). She has a more confident air about her (which may give the impression of being an INTJ) and those sharp yet relaxed eyes, definitely tell me she is an INTx.

i always used to think i was alone in this world and there was no one else like me. recently tho I've discovered there are more like me. The hardest thing for me is talking with other people, I can never seem to get their interest and they often ignore me after i try talking with them for a few minutes. Though with the friends I met long ago we can talk all day about nothing at all. I'm just happy to know why I am the way I am, at least part of it anyways.

Delighted by what you said about the schoolyard. I used to sit on the other side of the playing field, alone and far away. Horses were in the neighbouring field. A small brook separated us, which they'd drink from, standing in a parting between the weeping willows just a few feet away from me. I'd sit there every break, loving the beauty of the scene, so happy alone my thoughts for company. Thanks for sharing this detail; I never heard of anyone else like this before. I'm an INFP and one of my best friends is an INTP. Everything you talk about is how I feel. I love to think about stuff and write stories more than hang out with people although I love company. People seem to think I'm weird. Like I have friends but it never really gets anywhere because I'm always thinking about something. I interact more with my friends from back home because we joke about random stuff because it's more fun than talking about normal everyday things.

Originally there was this other theory that said not all men came from the same starting place at the same starting time. This theory was abandoned simply because it leads to racist ideas of superiority: "The races that are the oldest are the best. If there are a trillion pre-formed possible thoughts that might cross a person's mind at any given time, their combination, timing, and stimulus does make us all unique. Hello I took the test and I came up as an INTJ. I'm thinking second thoughts about you being an INTP considering you keep on showing introverted feeling which INTP's don't even have. Even with that an INTP has extroverted feeling last. If you are in fact an INTP your introverted thinking is especially weak. From my perspective I see you as a ISFP. I completely agree with the "fundamental me" you mention. My friend took the test and had trouble with the "gray areas"... Feeling neither introverted nor extroverted, for example. In my opinion, this is a good thing. If you are a Thinking type with very undeveloped and immature Feeling, you're bound to run into many problems. I'm an INTJ but identify with ambiversion, and have recently been overwhelmed with deep explorations of my Fi. I'm also at times highly focused on entertaining others.

Heres something I find really interesting to do. Take the test for a close friend and see how close you come to identifying them in comparison to what they think of themselves. I'm a INTJ, quite similar to a INTP. I would say my result is remarkably true to life, as you say in terms of the 'fundamental' me. I'm a quiet confident person, who likes to play with ideas in my mind. Two out of four of my closest friends labeled me a INTJ, the others labeled me a INTP.

I don't really fit into the crowd, neither do I feel attracted to being in one. As an 21 y.o. INTP man, let me let loose a wild theory: Personally, I suspect that the challenges faced my INTP men and INTP women are of the same magnitude - but in different areas: INTP women can get away with being passive, but they have to fight the whole "not being emotional enough" issue as you pointed out. INTP men can get away with not being emotional enough, but they have to fight the whole "not being aggressive/outgoing enough" issue. Just a random idea.

@gyromeister89 I totally agree with you, at least on the male side, as I'm an INTP male. My T function is pretty well accepted by fellow male friends, but not so much my I, or even my N really. I guess my P is pretty accepted too, as I have many perceptive friends. The only time I do have trouble with my T function is with my girlfriend, who is an extreme F, so it makes quite a communication barrier. But like I said, other than that, the T is pretty "normal" I guess.

People need to understand that "not being aggressive/outgoing enough" doesn't make a person a doormat, which is a bad thing to be for men and women. We get our strength from within, as well as our justifications, so we can guide and maintain ourselves without the need for the whole "aggressive/outgoing" thing.
The examples of INTP individuals should be enough to support this idea. Socrates, Darwin, and Jefferson were hardly doormats. Hell, Socrates was the original gadfly!

o.O Woah... I could talk to you for hours on end. I'm an INTP too... pretty sure, anyway. Speaking of social drama, I took Psychology this year because I love learning about the mind. Unfortunately there are a few girls in the class who would rather complain to our teacher about their relationship status than study the subject they signed up for. Part of me wants to lable them as shallow, but who knows? Either way I don't get it. I'm just lucky enough to have an ENTP as a best friend. ^.^
