There is a third option and that is "Go watch the film!!" as in someone really influential telling you to do it and if it was a big big wrestler you would go lol
This video REALLY spoke to me. One of those things where it feels like it was made just for you. I've started to become more aware and self-conscious of my thoughts and feelings, and just by trail and error I've started to do as you've said in this; listen to your inner voice, and try to put an upwards swing. I can feel an almost intimidate physical and emotional change in me; that dull, painful ache of depression or hopelessness seems to lift. I'm glad to know I'm going in the right direction.
@fen4554 Yes, it really is our thoughts and emotions that impact our life the most... in particularly, thoughts that are linked with high levels of emotion. Our choice of words is not only one of the biggest indicators of what thoughts/emotions we have but also helps shape them. Congratulations on your journey. Glad we connected. Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist.
@Fuliginosus I would imagine you are pretty unique in the consistent use of somnambulism :) Does it impact your thoughts and focus or is it just a word you use frequently?
@NickBogatin They tell me I also say 'papal', 'and' 'the' 'to' and 'centrifuge' a lot. Now I'm trying to shift to the words 'vinaigrette', 'bilious,' and 'drainage' just to see how my life alters.
What if the project is really shitty?, should we really lie to ourselves and not be objective about it. What if the project was assigned to you because nobody else want to deal with it and you were the last resort. I just don't see how lying to yourself can better someones life. How about taking some risk and choosing a job that you really like, following your passion and joy.
@chafut That statement was just the example I used. If that's not true for someone than I don't recommend using that example. That being said, if we feel a project is really "shitty", it's up to us to look at why we perceive it as that. We can ask ourselves how the situation could be to our advantage and focus on that. Questions are words that can change our focus too. Even in a job that is our passion, we sometimes run into tasks we don't like. Learning how to deal with that is essential.
Great point Nick. I came to the US at age 28 with no English at all. I started focusing on picking it up asap and realized that people communicated in pre-canned sentences (idioms that I did not know) and as soon as I tried to get creative with the use of the language I would be misunderstood or ignored. Also, if I use a word out of the ordinary language I realize that I am labeled as pedantic or like I am trying to impress. There is a fine line huh?
Great Video!!! All you say is true!
