i like this song to play along with, but, to me, limbo has always sounded like a song they wrote but couldn't/didn't put any lyrics for. yyz and la villa strangiato were rife with riffs, showcases for their instrumental skill. you knew those songs were not meant to be sung over because the instruments filled the spaces. limbo, by comparison, has always sounded plain to me, like they were rehearsing one day and forgot to turn on the microphones.
So smooth, flawless, technical, melodic, perfect, creative, precise, and never over doing it at all for any of the songs he plays. Never will I ever see someone as good as him. He NEVER misses a beat. So technical. No one can match what he does and has done for drumming. In my opinion anyways.
I know there are a lot of legendary drummers out there, and many will say they are way better than him, and I agree, only in some aspects though. He is alltimebest No drummer misses less beats than him.

there's nothing wrong with your opinion; but don't you think that idolizing him to such an extent severely limits you from having a more well rounded grasp on drumming as a whole? as good as neil peart is, there are a lot of areas he's overshadowed in. his talent is great, but his playing sometimes feel forced; it comes from the mind, not the soul. i guess you could say he isn't an organic drummer in one sense.
i'm not dissing you or peart, i'm just saying keep your mind open.
buddy whoa whoa whoa, first off you dont even know me, secondly, i praise him so much because of how him and rush have influenced me and got me started in music. trust me- i know there are areas hes overshadowed in and trust me im not trying to be exactly like him, this is why SO MANY people praise him as being the best- cuz he has influenced the majority of drummers today, moreso than any other commercial drummer in the world. For the record I also love Gadd, Bonzo, Beauford, Chambers, Caluita
Alright, that's great if he's influenced you. There's always something about your first idol, isn't there? I'll fight anyone who disses Chad Smith to death, so I guess I wasn't appreciative of your opinion there. Point taken. It's not that I don't like Neil Peart; you just listed greater drummers than him as your influences as well, so I can see you have a great regard for him AND others. I just took offense at the way you put him on a pedestal; then I realized you were talking about influence.
critics have kept them out of the hall of fame they're too busy talking bout rap and other crap like that but yea test for echo is one of their best albums
he learned his rudiments like that and with his teachers urging and his own wish to reinvent things he went back to traditional style and it gave him a lot more fluidity.
Rush formed a few days after I was born !!!! Cool Huh!

The Test for Echo album was released a few days after I was born. That is a fact I am very proud of.

neil's drums sound the best on this album, which is by the way far to under-rated.

Very true. His drumming is at his best here. Thanks for Freddie Gruber for that ( and sorry if I misspelled it.

I like all the songs on this album. Critics are fucking crazy for saying this is a bad cd.

Rush Limbo. sometimes i am in the mood to hear this one, sometimes not. Test 4 Echo deserves more credit than it receives from critics. Reasons?
1. Test For Echo
2. Driven
3. Resist
4. Limbo
5. Dog Years
the rest? oh well............skip. :-)
