Officer in the 89.9% right. He resisted arrest and dissobayed orders. The missing 10% is the Officer in the wrong for just giving him 0.3 seconds to react when asked to get his liscence.
The cop should NOT have asked him to step out of the vehicle on a busy highway... talk about poor judgment. He should have calmly explained the consequences of not giving over the license and registration, then gave the driver a moment to think it through. But taser? Jail? For 5 mph over the limit, really? have a look at how close the cars are travelling to the officers back...who would want to stand that close to the traffic with an agumentative driver. two problems i see. 1. he is one up, therefore at a distinct disadvantage, without any assistance he cant afford to wrestle etc in a situation like that...both could get struck by a car and get killed. 2 in his mind he has no idea what he is dealing with and self preservation kicks in. had the driver done what they were told then no problem.

Buy a gun and learn how to use it.

From what I understand, police in smaller, more manageable countries like yours take a "community service officer" approach to law enforcement, so maybe your culture there does expect police to protect everyone. We can't do that in the US unfortunately. Too much open space, too many people, too much urban crime. In some areas it's a regular occurrence for the nearest cop to be ~5+ minutes away from a call, which is a lot of time for a criminal.

How did police manage to conduct themselves in similar traffic stops 30 years ago? I never remember the "beat em down" mentality. Today some of these guys pretend to be military units. Speaking for myself, I'd call 3 or 4 old military vets of mine and get me some payback. The government taught us well.
I side with law enforcement %95 of the time, but in this case I think the cop could have utilized better people skills (if he has any) . Then again, you should never argue with a cop when he tells you to pull out your license or step to the back of the vehicle. Yep I pray daily for the deaths of police officers and will continue to do so until they repent. I also carry a Glock 45 24/7 to protect myself from cops. I am a cop who is certified with a taser, I have used my taser more than once. The officer is in the wrong in this case. It sounds like to me that the cop was having a bad day took it out on someone who from what it sounds like, was complying with the officers request to provide license and insurance.

If the guy would have just given the officer his license and proof of insurance it wouldn't have went to the next level which is him getting out of his vehicle. have a look at how close the cars are travelling to the officers back...who would want to stand that close to the traffic with an agumentative driver. two problems i see. 1. he is one up, therefore at a distinct disadvantage, without any assistance he cant afford to wrestle etc in a situation like that...both could get struck by a car and get killed. 2 in his mind he has no idea what he is dealing with and self preservation kicks in. had the driver done what they were told then no problem.

You cannot sue an officer or department for failing to protect you. If they show up 30 minutes after you dial 911 while watching your family get murdered, they aren't liable for anything. Buy a gun and learn how to use it.

From what I understand, police in smaller, more manageable countries like yours take a "community service officer" approach to law enforcement, so maybe your culture there does expect police to protect everyone. We can't do that in the US unfortunately. Too much open space, too many people, too much urban crime. In some areas it's a regular occurrence for the nearest cop to be ~5+ minutes away from a call, which is a lot of time for a criminal.

I love how officers always assume everyone is a 'cop killer.' how many cops get killed a year, maybe 10, if that. grow some balls pigs. if you carry a gun, learn how to use your fist first

About 113 cops have been killed in the line of duty in the US in 2009. 44 of those were shot. I'm a cop and I think tasering this guy or girl was un called for. I do not agree with your comment about useing your fists. Injury to the suspect and or officer is much more likely when useing physical force. Tasers are great if used with common sense. I don't understand why he wasn't more patient. My first line of defence is useually verbal.

Are you including those four cops that got killed in Washington. No offense but they weren't cops. They we're people who sat on there ass. How did the third and forth dude get shot? Do they ever think about protecting and serving the public? Seriously, does that ever cross a cops mind? Or do they just look to see if we had three beers before we drove or a gram of pot on us during traffic stops. Slackers make me sick and this guy, in this video, WAS A COP!

How did police manage to conduct themselves in similar traffic stops 30 years ago? I never remember the "beat em down" mentality. Today some of these guys pretend to be military units. Speaking for myself, I'd call 3 or 4 old military vets of mine and get me some payback. The government taught us well.

I side with law enforcement %95 of the time, but in this case I think the cop could have utilized better people skills (if he has any) . Then again, you should never argue with a cop when he tells you to pull out your license or step to the back of the vehicle. Unless Snelling turned out to be some asshole with a long rap sheet, I wouldn't be happy with the cop's actions if I were his chief.

Yep I pray daily for the deaths of police officers and will continue to do so until they repent. I also carry a Glock 45 24/7 to protect myself from cops. I spend 3-4 hours per week practicing head shots in case I need to kill a cop to protect myself. It isn't just one cop doing a stupid thing , it's thousands. Your dad is probably a thug and you just don't see it. Police accidentally kill 6-7 American citizens everyday and I'm supposed to respect these thugs ? WAKE UP TO REALITY KID.

Dynamicqc6: Typical cop ass kisser, they are right and the citizens are wrong. In my case I haven't had a ticket in over 20 years, zero criminal record. Just a business owner that has seen law enforcement change drastically in this country. Search police abuse or brutality on this site and the evidence is overwhelming. I pray for the slaughter of cops daily and will continue until they repent.

Another behavior issue. It doesn't matter what equipment the officer has or doesnt. he need remedial training on interacting with the public. Its important to remain dispassionate when seeing these videos. Whats the backstory? Did this officer just come from a call where his life was threatend? Why did he act the way he did and how do we prevent it. Its not a Tazer issue. Just a note, The guy is fine. If he had been beaten with a baton, he may have had broken bones or died.

I am a cop who is certified with a taser, I have used my taser more than once. The officer is in the wrong in this case. It sounds like to me that the cop was having a bad day took it out on someone who from what it sounds like, was complying with the officers request to provide license and insurance.
