actually, the cobra strike is more powerful, it always kills it's victims, and the thrust punch not always. but since the latter is also very powerful, it's rare that the enemies survive that and it's very cool to watch those poor bastards flying

Maybe they thought Wesker would be too over powered in mercenaries so they replaced the thrust punch with cobra strike. Also, just imagine if he could do that in the boss fight. he kill you in one it by sending you across the room.

@swifti1001 I can probably answer this. Notice how wesker isn't human anymore so because of all the crap that he has especially Uroboros, he can't die by lava that quickly. If it were Chris or any other normal person, sure they would die quickly but this is Uroboros Wesker.......he would live a little longer and plus he got shot by a rocket launcher. He's pretty much dead now.
