Can't tell whether it'll be good or not, but if it allows more people to relate to a quality show that they wouldn't otherwise see, I don't see the harm. Maybe it'll create even more interest in the original :)
I don't see why they couldn't put outrageous fortune on cable channel, like HBO. FOTC broke the way for americas to accept a kiwi accent. Wolf was in ugly betty, it's got the dude from Mcleods Daughters so there's people americans would recognise.

To any Americans thinking of watching this you would much better off ordering the original New Zealand series on DVD. It seems ABC have missed the mark when making their version.
@scottjohnstonnz While it has done well in its country of origin which only has 4 million people the writers have done well to make sure it reaches as many of the 310 million people living there. I don't blame them one bit.

So why should they re-make a perfectly good series word for word with U.S actors when they could just play our original version. Maybe that way they could learn that there is a world outside of the United States.
