  • Matt sharp's sound at 52 sounds like a little person being tickled. This performance gives me chills, i like how they all can play really good and just fit together so well.

  • I love this song . this is the first song i ever learned to play on bass

  • @cfoofc1 lol no way, first song i learned on guitar! weird

  • classic class! <3

  • Rivers looks like he's stoned out of his mind.

  • @lukemn29 Probably on Vicodin; this was right after his surgery.

  • Wow, they really had that pseudo ironic pretentious bull shit thing going before anyone else.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think this is 1995. Scott Shriner is playing bass here...

  • @BrainFreeZone that is most definitely not scott shriner...it's matt sharp. and the band hasn't been anywhere near as good since he left.

  • @nickfromCO My bad. Thanks for the correction!

  • @BrainFreeZone Also there is no way in hell Scott could pull those notes. Especially if you listen to King you can tell the differences

  • DUDE THEY ARE SUCKING SO BAD IN THIS SHOW. BUT ITS OK THEY WERE SO NEW. ITS AMAZING

  • Looking' a little awkward haha! This song will always be amazing though.

  • old weezer is the shit!

  • I'm downloading this recording before ACTA finds it.

  • Epic playing from the guy behind the glasses

  • The bassist in this is amazing!

  • thats a sick guitar

  • awakens ancient feelings =[

  • idk if its just me but the lead singer/guitar player, reminds me of eric forman from that 70s show:)

  • the drummer looks like that guy from iron chef america

  • @ak30195 lol alton brown?

  • @Bronsini666 yes thats his name

  • plateau effect

  • this is sex

  • i love this so much. theyre nerds. the best ones that have ever lived.

  • He`s a nerd.

    But a good nerd.

  • What kinda bass it that? the head stock doesn't look fender?

  • @Mr4stringman He always used a fender jazz, but the headstock looks like it came off a 50's precision. Although the neck seems too thin to be a p, so i'm not too sure.

  • What talented nerds

  • great song. they're playing the right notes and everything.. but the tone of every single instrument sounds terrible. i hope letterman fired that guy.

  • ずっと飽きない大好きな名曲です。

  • WHAT A SONG

  • Brian Bell looks like Sheldon Cooper in this!

  • the bassist got kicked out of this band because he rocked out too hard on this show and took attention away from Rivers. Fun fact. This bassist rules so fucking hard too, look how he hits the backup vocals while also performing an off-time bassline, like right at the start of the track. I mean fucking Rivers, so vain, look how retarded his dumb eyes look because he didnt wear glasses because he wanted to look cool on tv. RANT DONE

  • @refusedchad rivers didnt wear glasses on the music video...stupid rant... and they didnt kick matt sharp out anyway

  • Hey, look at that. Fucking professional music.

  • man i dont give a fucc what they are! these boys jammin they ass off! love the shyt outta this song thanx to roccband!!!

  • is this right before Rivers went back to Harvard, he seems dead here.

  • who else misses Matt Sharp?

  • @BradWeen fuck yeah

  • @BradWeen

    Such a goofball. Lol.

  • @BradWeen yeah he was on the cutting edge of music with his basslines(couldnt resist the terrible joke)

  • @BradWeen He's friends with "P" so he's friends with me!

  • @getreadytowiggle1991 no its because he had a knee brace on at the time

  • hahaha gotta love that bass player

  • back when weezer used to kick ass

  • 2 months before i was born.

  • River's voice is golden!

  • very nice weezer yeeeeeeeaaaaah esti que ses bon men hahahaa

  • Una de las canciones favoritas de mi adolescencia.

  • I like matts green hair.

  • @AwfulWalrus Oh shit, pats, I like pats green hair.

  • I think there is a "voice over" track on this "live" version. Too bad, I really respect Lettermans live songs.

  • @Raiderfn31 Don't know why you'd think that. The multitracks for this performance are most surely gone and have been for quite some time, so fixing up the vocals would be impossible. Letterman's live performances are simply aired for the most part, not kept and tampered around with.

Also, Rivers's voice cracks, something that hardly ever happens. I'm sure that if this was edited, they'd definitely edit that part out.

  • @Raiderfn31 I dont think it is. What makes you think so?

  • @Raiderfn31 What are you talking about? Where do you hear this voice over? Your statement doesn't even make any sense. This performance is about as raw as any I've ever heard EVER anywhere!

  • I feel that Weezer gets a lot of inaccurate "they're nerds" comments when, in actuality, they were embodying "indie rock" before it reached the masses to the annoying extent that it has in present day. I'm not saying that they're not nerds, but I feel like not nearly enough people consider the fact that they were a part of something else, not simply some nerds who struck gold. Basically, they were an "indie band" that found some serious mainstream success.

  • @kiwieata So what i think!

  • @kiwieata

    Fair statement

  • Matt is about to bust his ass

  • My favorite song from this band. I love how they make nerds seem so BA.

  • I fucking love this but holy shit that was a long time ago.

  • is this 1995??? LOL greatest camera video at that year

  • EPICNESSS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dayum! 1:35 power rock stance :D

  • @bronksbombers1200 Matt sharp is pretty epic...

  • wow that was awesome, almost 20 yrs later. and holy shit does it sound weird to say that...

  • the bass sounds awesome in this song. I miss old weezer

  • are they high in this?

  • Matt Sharp (bass) looks just like Johnny Knoxville

  • Yeah OK I do.

  • Who thinks of rock band when they hear this?

  • @dxtbbtb LOL I ALWAYS DO...

  • Always loved this song!

  • Even with a leg brace Rivers kicked total ass

  • Its funny as hell when Matt Sharp freaks the fuck out during the chorus

  • @Ultimat3lronM4n oh, Is that the reason he has big pants on? I thought at first it was just another lame style in the '90s.... lol

  • this version; better than studio. thumbs up if u agree

  • blue album is still one of the all-time greats imo. this song would be on the ultimate mix-tape of my teenage years... awesome vid

  • The guitar player on the right looks like a dumb ass

  • Comment removed

  • Matt should of never joined Weezer

  • @sonnyboy1069 he does it on purpose

  • Matt Sharp, you shouldn't have left Weezer.

  • The Matt Sharp Sounds like a girl lol in the begining

  • classic

  • he sings really flat like a tire thats burst

  • I could never figure out Weezer...if I liked them or not. Buddy Holly was great...this is probably my favorite song of their's. There is no doubt they have talent. But if I hear "Island in the Sun" ever again, I just might go postal. Most bands I either like or don't...Weezer is both.

  • Old Weezer just amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Favorited. C/O '94

  • @CameronWasmund oh, What a dumbass. Haha thanks

  • so.. Rivers is the only one NOT freaking out on stage. or is it just me?

  • @Zeiky08 he never does, but it doesn't matter because he's fucking awesome anyways. and in this performance, he had a leg brace on.

  • @Zeiky08 He was kinda unable to. He was wearing a leg brace at the time.

  • @Zeiky08 He has a bum leg in this video

  • 3:15. Green Hairs ...

  • Now whatthefuck did "Modelleg" say?

  • 1:51

    lol :p

  • Mmmm . . . ahhhh . . .. back when they were still making invigorating music . .. this brings me back.

  • When did kassemG start playin bass for weezer?

  • @Theasianganster AHHAHAHA your my hero

  • @Theasianganster Matt doesn't even look like Kassem....

  • @Theasianganster yea, apparently kassemg and slim shady rotated bass duties during the early days of weezer

  • class.

  • Brian Bell is so hot.

  • rivers was happy backstage but then he took an arrow to the knee.

  • @ilylac i love you

  • Ahh. Back when Rivers still had the infamous 'blue' guitar, Brian looked like Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, Pat still actually played drums and Matt Sharp was jumping around like a mad man. Weezer's peak.

  • I miss my dad...

  • For anyone that's wondering, the bassist, Matt Sharp, was jumping around more than he usually does on purpose to keep attention away from Rivers, since he had a leg brace. It made Rivers more comfortable.

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n that's nice! how do you know it? not doubting or anything.

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n You're a dickhead.

  • @RandMan14 it wasn't even a poke at anyone, how is he a dickhead?

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n I feel his pain. People in my area who go to punk shows expect an energetic performance during "reunion" shows with my band from when I was 17-22, that's how we were then and that's how we are now. The drummer stands up a lot more than he sits, the bassist and I spend more time OFF the stage then on, and I smash a cheap guitar like the old days (usually donated by some punker who stole it from Target or something). I recently played with a herniated disk. It made me feel old.

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n yea but it looks like rivers is in pain. how did he get the brace in the first place?

  • @laxbro787 One of his legs were shorter than the other.

The brace supposedly stretches the bone.

So yeah, he probably is in pain.

  • @laxbro787 Leg surgery to make both his legs even length. Google it

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n Who gives a shit...thank God Matt left the band! And the Rentals sucked!

  • @zume2600 : i love to see what you were doing musically in 1995.go ahead,let it rip,in fact,don t hold back.cocktard!!!

  • @marcusguernsey Ok, fuckface. I will.

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n

Ah, makes sense I was thinking .."Man them are some big pants!" haha. Doesn't matter though. Weezer rocks enough for Rivers to be able to just stand there.

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n That's pretty interesting. How do you know this?

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n Thats`s a good friend.

  • @Ultimat3IronM4n What a guy, I never would have guessed that.

  • Bass player looks like lenerd from big bang theory

  • SO good.

  • At 2:56 the bass player absolutely earned his pay...! Wtf???

  • I am surprised the bass player didn't actually give Rivers an accidental roundhouse kick to the cerebellum

  • A weezer fan who doesn't know what a VCR is? That's weird. Great fucking song btw

  • As a bass player i must add that you may make a really big gesture with your arm BUT have control on how hard you hit the strings.

  • Rivers can't scream into the mic.

  • this was my moms birthday!!!!!and right after i was born

  • They have the stage presence of someone in the 90's. Lol

  • 2:56 WHERE DID HE COME FROM

  • this is soo great; it's sounds like the music was pre-recorded even though i know it wasn't

+ this was done on my father's birthday!!!

  • @johnwaynepresley your dad is 16?

  • What the heck was that machine at the very beginning?

  • @tdollar21

    A VCR.

  • the dudes from "the big bang theory" remembers me on weezer :D

  • I was informed it should be spelt, "their."

  • Ahead of there time... Before mine...

  • Question to anyway who plays bass, how does one hit the strings THAT hard and still come up with a normal non rattleing sound?

  • @BOOOOOMshakalakalaka the bass is probably rattling but the amps not picking it up

  • It's because hes controlling it with his left hand by muting the stings.

  • @BOOOOOMshakalakalaka i play guitar but i might know the answer. Heavy strings. alot of pumk bands like the misfits use heavy strings so they can beat the shit of the bass without affecting

  • @leddeath80 Hmm.. I was unaware of that, thanks. I was just wonderin cus I play bass and I can't hit the strings hard at all without getting rattle.

  • i 'll this song 9999 times out of 10,000 over anything radio head ever did. "be cool". after 15 years it's still ...fucking cool- yessss.

  • god i miss baggy khakis loose shirts and scuffed skater sneaks. i wish i could wear them now without looking like a retarded 90's grunge retrofuck. fuck it. i'll do it anyway. oh yeah this performance wigs me out. i didn't know they did it so well live back then. not just grundger wanna be college boyz. they fuckin rock.

  • that bassist was rockin out the whole time xD

  • One of the guitarists already wore ironic t-shirts and tight pants before it was cool. Weezer's members should be considered as the Godfathers of hipsters!

  • rivers looked so nervous in this vid. he killed it though. im shocked at how well weezer preforms live!

  • Crazy to think this was 16 years ago...

  • kerenn..
