  • That was incredible. All three trumpet solos were fantastic, including the last note-for-note Bix solo. It was great NOT to hear the Godawful vocal on the original (though I've heard it so many times I've almost gotten fond of it). I have the Peter Ecklund transcription book, but it doesn't have this tune in it. Guess I'll have to learn it off the record. Well done and thanks for posting this.

  • For those who don't know this, this was one of the last songs Bix recorded with his hand-picked studio orchestra {for Victor} in September 1930, before he stopped recording altogether....

  • I missed this performance. A nice touch to have the cornetists/trumpeters to each play their tribute for Bix :-)

  • Oops...never mind. I did see this performance. I'm the idiot howling approval at the end (ahem - sorry.)Apparently I had so much fun I forgot half of what happened.
