  • Nice performance!

  • My dad passed away August 4, 2008. This song reminds me so much of him. I remember him saying he had felt like an old violin. I cry every time I hear this.

  • to be played at my last day on this big ball in the shy

  • Johnny was about my age when he recorded this. i remember playing it when i was a DJ at a local country station. i was about 22 then. i'm 47 now and i know just how he felt. :(

  • well i am 15 and i grew up on this i love this song so much!!

  • ive felt like this all my life and itd fixing to come 2012,,stil fill this way.

  • i love johnny paycheck rip!!!

  • You just feel life coming out of this man, he lived it fully!

  • diggin in and thinkin thin...3 time loser.

  • Feeling like this tonight

  • as the years go by this is how i feel

  • @awhitedevil1979 It does fell like that the older you get

  • yeah this song is one my favorites.ironic as hell with things in my life.I want this one playing when i go under the dirt....

  • i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee old songsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • MY SITUATION IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. mARRIED THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD. she started on the painkillers and alcohol, man it got bad, we divorsed. Got remarried 3 years later, now the same thing all over.I dont drink, im all about the family and its got me 51 years old and alone again. Im done. Perscription pills are as bad as anything out there and you dont even have to take them to hit bottom.......

  • i want to finish what i started. i don't give a damn what people say, it's a choice that i made and a choice keith made. i regret those choices but i cant change them, i got to move on...to my 3 wonderful children, kim, caleb, and cory. daddy loves u so much and i THANK YOU for you guys loving me again. U 3 are my world and i love u so much....i thank everybody who said i would fail...jokes on u..sober 4 10 yrs. but i did it for 3 simple words...KIM, CALEB, CORY...again daddy loves u.

  • i love this song, it was played at my brother funeral on 9-9-10 R.I.P CORY SCOTT (CJ) HE WAS A GREAT FATHER FRIEND & BRTOHER and it was also played for my wife's grandfathers funeral as well on 10-31-11 R.I.P LES MORGAN.. HE WAS ONE GREAT MAN, HUSBAND,FATHER,GRANDFATHER, HE COULD MAKE YOU LAUGH EVEN IF YOU WAS SAD.. BOTH WILL TRUELEY BE MISSED DEARLEY!!!!! LOVE YALL HOPE TO SEE YOU AGIAN ONEDAY

  • Alcoholism it kills and destroys a man. I lost my idol and country music superstar Keith Whitley to that disease, the same one that robbed me of my family. The answers to life and diffcult situations does not lie in the bottom of a whiskey bottle, but back then i couldnt see that. The only thing i wanted was another drink and another bottle. Damn my family and damn my friends was my thinking. One more drink and things will be alright. I loved the bottle and the things that came with it.

  • @lno71 ..it wasn't Alcoholism he wrote that song when he was going to prison for three years (he thought it'd kill his career and he was right it did). Stop projecting your personal life on a beautiful personal song he wrote to combat he own demons.

  • thanks for puttin up the original

  • it dont get any better for him on this song your the best johnny!!!

  • they just have to want it bad enough........Hang in there, don't give up & May God Bless........Oh, an also, I partied & played music with Paycheck for about a week in Montana back around 1970......(May street dance in Missoula, Mt) "Wild Days"

  • It took every drink & pill and every thing I ever did to get me where I am today.......I, like you, was a horrible husband, father & human being.....But today, no more!!! My Higher Power ( God, in my case) finally got a hold of me (or I guess the other way around), I got a hold of Him........25 + years clean & sober & most important, an awful lot of fences mended.....It took an awful lot of work to make the turn, but staying high wasn't easy either.........Anyone can make the turn. (con't)

  • i might be 15 but when my heart got broken bye a girl i heard this song and drunk a couple so this song is the best ever.!

  • Before he died, Johnny Paycheck said this was the best song he had written.

  • my old man my father grew up with him down in hillsboro ohio. they drank in the bars in chillicothe ohio where he went to prison there too after he shot at the bartender. love this man...

  • Why to go Johnny feel the same am 67 and rember you when we were alittle younger got a little smater

  • This is great and paycheck does it the best

  • @chrisnoobholt You were probably a fuckin prick to him, you puke.

  • This is why I surf Youtube. Rough, uncut, but truly a diamond to be recognized and treasured. A new Favourite.

    Thank you

  • My dad passed away a week ago today!! We played this song at his funral.. He loved this song alot.. It breaks my heart everytime i hear this song i cry cry like a baby an im 31 yrs old... Idk when or if it will get any easier.. My momma seems so lost without my daddy..

  • @bkkuykendall I know what you mean Im 25, and lost my dad a little over a month ago unexpectedly. My mother seems the same way.

  • Love this song. Puts life in the proper perspective. At one time or another, we all become the old violin. God bless you always, Johnny Paycheck. . . . Had I known that you were in that nursing home, I would have come to visit you.

  • Love this song. Gives ya cold chills.

  • thumbs up if u live in greenfield

  • great song and bring back mem's from when i was fighting my meth adiction hated it but just felt like i had to have it even tho most every one still thinks im dirty i know i sleep at night now and can care less what they think and aint even gonna try prove any thing to them

  • @sennfullspeed im not judging, i don't know you except by what you say, but you are human and everyone should treat others with respect. Shame on them for thinking that. keep up the good work.

  • He passed away in a Nursing Home, I heard that Merle Haggard was paying for his stay there !

  • great song...

  • one of nashvilles very best the great johnny paycheck.rest in peace and thanks to george jones for making sure this legend had a good funeral.

  • Me and my Dad saw Johnny in Kilgore Texas back in the early 1990's. We knew at the time we were seeing greatness.

  • this is my uncle craigs favorite song

  • Jim Beam on the rocks goes nicely with this wonderful tune...

  • This song was inspirational to my new release. Clay Dustin

  • Im just 31 and to me this has got to be one of my favorite songs ever

  • awesome song and it kinda speaks of me cause I once was a hard worker and worked till my back gave out and I feel like an old violin that has been put away on the shelf never to be seen again at a tender age of 28 I just wonder why it had to happen to me but that's life and I tried my best to accept what fate has given me..R.i.P johnny paycheck you was always one of the best singers

  • @blazerlover25 guy you can't beat yourself up over getting injured and not being able to work . just remember that theres alot of people that never worked and have been milking the country dry for years and not ever saying thanks to all who have worked to give them the the life they have . be proud that you did work when you could.and know that the people don't mind helping the ones that atleast tryed to do it on there own but was taken out by injury

  • @jclarkjimmy thanks 4 the kind words your right there are some people who never made their hands bleed from working or their legs hurting from being on them all day working I mainly got crippled because I pushed the limits and I am slowly accepting this and finding a new way of looking at it because there are people out there in worse shape

  • if you dont like jonny paycheck you are not a man

  • :"(

  • I had a family..a wife..a little girl...a great job I loved...the life man....I mean the good life......but my liying ... and my falling short...the ones I let down that helped me throught think n thin....its all gone and that life I had will never be again...never...and it truly is the worst feeling I have ever failed..." I don't know why I feel this way...Hell I cant say..."but I can say bc I let my self down...how could I be a husband and a father when I couldn't even help myself...damm it...

  • @77pcorbett , We are humble human beings. We make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up. Don't look back, just keep moving forward.

  • @77pcorbett I agree do not beat youself up. You can turn life around and around, but until you admit there is a problem, nothing will change. You have done it so make the changes. It won't be easy but you can, one day at a time.

  • @77pcorbett , One additional thing. You took a brave initial step by recognizing and admitting to the mistake. Now you can move beyond the past and be proud of your future decisions. Be strong my friend and GB.

  • @77pcorbett Been there maiN!!

  • @77pcorbett

u just gotta put what is most important to you first and let nothing ever get in the way of that. keep focus on what really matters and let nothing or no one get in your way!!! the lord is always there, Job lost everything as well and was blessed with even more than he had, so keep faith if u believe!!!

  • @77pcorbett My wife of 15 years ran away with a guy she had only met 2 weeks earlier. She left myself and my 12 year old daughter like we were trash. If you think you felt bad, you should feel it from the receiving end.

  • @77pcorbett Your on the right track brother, like the man said you took the first step admitting you got a problem. We don't need more heroes, just kind decent human beings.

  • @77pcorbett It's ok buddy. You can't change the past but you can start today and change everyday from here on out! And I PROMISE that little girl of yours will forgive you!

  • @77pcorbett wow thats the last thing I've ever heard. It's always like that we don't know what we have until it's gone. I hope it looks up from here my friend.

  • @77pcorbett You may think you couldn't help yourself, but you have no idea how many people your helping just by having the balls to type what you typed brother.

Just because we have freedom of speech doesn't mean you get to act like a jackarse. Freedom of Speech was meant to speak against the government and oppression by government............not to allow deviants to spew their filth.

  • I INTRODUCED THIS SONG TO MY KIDS YEARS AGO. we all play music and sing I AM 50 & have 5 sons whom play very well. as a joke i told my son justin i wanted them to play this song @ my funeral just to see what he would say, to my surprise they practiced it for 3 weeks we had a little get together they called out my name and said they weren't gonna wait til i died& played it & i cried like a baby

  • When I was first married my husband pulled me aside one night and made me listen to this song. Me being the younger generation sighed and laughed. In 2006 this song was my husbands" putting away" song as he called it. Needless to say this old song has made a big impression on my life and till this day brings tears to my eyes every saturday morning on the golden oldies!!!!!!!

  • I feel exactly like john right now.

  • This video reflects my life so much more than the "bad" things You tube even allows. The song reflects heart and sadness. Johnny says this very well. Life is Not a bed of roses. It's constant struggle. But my Dad was a fighter, he said never call him old till he was 90. He saved our country with others in WW2, but never ever gave up and refused to be that OLD VIOLIN~don't you be that either

  • This puts goose-bumps on my goose-bumps!

  • i know how u fill about missing your brother i just buried mine 3 months ago

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!! :)

  • piss

  • I'm a 15 yr old and I hate the the crap on the radio now a days. sure their a couple good songs but that's it all the rest is "me and my friends gonna have a BBQ and a tail gate party type of country music. no more at a bar drinkin or you're soul mate cheating on you".
