  • He was a great player alright, but not the greatest ever in GAA history...

  • Stepehen o'neil works in my school in killyclogher he is a great football coach i love him for coming to my school!!!

  • reminds me of my county final.the year before i was sent off for a second yellow card and we lost by a point. the next year against our same opponents we were two points down in the last minute and i played a ball true for doyler to score a goal. the celebrations were immense

  • if mcgeeney wasnt taken off armagh would have won

  • @CGIreland if your Granny had balls she'd be your Granda too.

  • i was there!!

  • GWAAAAN TYRONE

  • Do you hear all of these Armagh supporters chattin about that Peter Canavan was shite and that Armagh were robbed by a dirty Tyrone team. Go and wise up ye's havent won an all-ireland since 2002. O and by the way "Our ma" supports Tyrone ;)

  • Matt Connor is the greatest player ever.

  • this video is a perfect example of the filth of armagh, they had one genius, mcconville, great man, great player, the rest are mediocre im afraid. ( by the way, If Marsden was a man not a neanderthal, he would not have punched jordan)

  • He was good like but he definitely isn't the best in GAA history. He was called "The best player in GAA not to have won an All Ireland" but then Tyrone people decided once he won an All Ireland he automatically becomes the best player ever. The thing is, it doesn't really work like that.

  • yeah. charming response acer. Just giving my opinion. Watch that game again and make your own mind up. good luck to you too but by your moronic reply and language i think you would be an embarrassment to any GAA supporter never mind the decent tyrone gaels.

  • Peter was hardly singled out....History will never show another great Dirmuid Marsden was sent off with a disgraceful unsporting act by Philip Jordan. yes armagh were rough but Tyrone exploited their weakness by buying frees diving constantly a year previous in 2004. Now that was Unkust and a poor fashion to win their first All ireland!

  • @irishmikeeb if you want to make a valid point at least pretend to know what you're talking about.

Marsden was sent off in the final of 2003 not in this game.

  • @umbrey sorry my mistake Of course he was. In fairness Tyrone have totally deserved their success over the years and when Armagh were not involved I admired how they played. However in that final of '03, I felt the fashion of how they went down to dupe frees from the ref and the Philip jordan Incident was more reminiscent of an italian soccer team trying to win an any cost. But Alas that is history, and good luck to you.

  • @umbrey u tell him! And u cannot even compare Dirmuid Marsden to to 'GOD'

  • fuck up ye sad cunt there was'nt a team in the country to sit with tyrone in speed, skill and determination in 2003, As for diving and cheap frees is the only way armagh could hold on to them, away to fuck and wise up ye fuckin dickhead,

  • @acer37430 wel said lad!!

  • Peter was hardly singled out....History will never show another great Dirmuid Marsden was sent off with a disgraceful unsporting act by Philip Jordan. yes armagh were rough but Tyrone exploited their weakness by buying frees diving constantly

  • Definitely one of the best footballers to have graced Croke Park or our screens....

  • what a legend. we havent replaced him though, mulligan or oneill have done little since. TYRONE TIL I DIE

  • @TirEoghainTim his son is on the way and is showing signs of the Peter the great!:D

  • I was there.

  • It meant so much that year because it was the first time Tyrone had found their form since the death of Cormac Mc Anallen..

  • great match-it meant so much to tyrone in 2005!! we even ran on to the pitch after and we hadn't won any final yet!!

i hope croke park allow fans to go on to the pitch again. its not the same without it!!

  • 1:21 tosser he loves himself

  • @rassputen Fuck you prick... thats a great player!! Peter the great?? MY HOLE!!!!

  • The greatest that ever did and ever will walk the earth and thats from

    a prod from south Belfast

  • @stoat01

    good on ye sir..

  • Armagh people wer praying to God that canavan would miss that free kick little did they know God was taking it . .

  • One phrase for Peter Canavan here....

    Cometh the hour...Cometh the man!

Form is temporary but Peters class is permanent

  • sum player

but he's not as gud as seamus moynihan

    from kerry

he was de bwest player of da decade for me nyway

  • what a legend!!! tir eoghan abu!!

  • i remember that ulster final..the ref even admited he was a dick after it.

    armagh are shite.

    tir eoghan abu.

  • greatest player every in da GAA? fuck off. Marice fitzgerald is far better

  • Maurice Fitzgerald didnt even start for kerry...

  • tats becaus he had a fight wit paudie o shea. did u ever c him in the 1997 all ireland final?

  • @alansully4 maurice was class but why didnt he ever start..almost single handedly won the all irland in 97 for kerry but what happened after that

  • He stil did have a big impact for kerry, coming up wit crucial scores to win tight games. For his skill, i tink ter has never been anybody as good as him in gaelic football. canavan was never close to some of the greats in the gaa such as christy ring, dj carey, jack o se, pat spillane, micky sheehy, john egan, jimmy barry murphy, eddie keher the list goes on

  • oh i agree the names you mentioned are the true greats of the GAA but in terms of the generation over the last 10 - 15 yrs he was a great great player..im a galway man and its nice to see great players winning medals that they deserve..think about the likes of Graham Canty and Ollie Canning..might never see an All Ireland but have given so much

  • o ya i know he was a very good player, but in that video it said he was the best player in the GAA's history

  • what do you mean "never close'? Are you joking? All the players you mentioned were great, Canavan would make an All time GAA top 10 list, of that there is no doubt

  • even in the last fifteen years of gaelic football there has been better footballers than him. Both seamus moynihan, dara o se wer better than him even though i don't like saying it (i am from cork). if you wer to include hurlers from that period the likes of DJ Carey, Henry Shefflin, Ben O'Connor, Tommy Walsh all achieved more and wer better than Canavan. I saw him play in the All Ireland final and the first game of the Ulster final that year and i have to say he didn't look anything great!

  • Peter Canavan was no doubt a great player.. but to call him the best is too much for me, none-the-less, total expert at dead ball situations and excellent football technician, class skill..

  • what a legend. peter the GREAT

  • there was never a bit of dirt in canavan

  • That Mcgeeneys a sickener, he makes me ill

  • Great to see Tyrone carrying on beating everyting to do with Armagh. Sorry for Kildare, but not their manager!!!!! Keep dreaming Armagh. 3 All-Irelands and counting.

  • Canavan was a great player yes but sometimes I wonder how Tyrone fans were so quick to forget his outburst after the 1994 Ulster final against Down in which he openly blamed his own teammates and avoided any sort of responsibility for that loss.

  • yes i was at that game with my oldest son, armagh were robbed that day by a very dirty tyrone team

  • Ah dry your eyes, the best tem won.

  • @umbrey thank you for speaking some sense!

  • grow up you nobend

  • Thats rich about Armagh. The dirtiest team in history. Tyrone are legends and Armagh just couldnt live with them. Thats why they got Canavan sent off in the Ulster Final in 2005, they couldnt live with him.

  • as for u ye need to get them fuckin eyes tested i doubt ye were at a different final to the one i was at!!!

  • Ive met this man.

Im captain of Dulwhich Harps GFC U14.

And we went on tour to Ireland and we played his team and won by 4 points. No lie, Swear to god :)

  • @Andreww293 so ur swearing to peter! im from his club! and a far out relation;)

  • peter canavan is a legend

met him one day in clonas nd got ma pic anall took

    sucha plesant and nice man

    no joke

    Tyrone 4 sam 09

  • what a point

    what a player

    what a team ;)

    TÍR EOGHAIN ABÚ . .

  • Greatest gaa player ever? lol.

  • without a doubt.

  • Aye easy in front of 60,000 people with half of them booing and the ref telling him that this was it,the last kick.

canavan played less games than mc conville and less qualifier games,If at the time oisin overtook Peter,if you deducted both their qualifier tallies from their overall scores then Canavan would be 4th overall and Mc Conville only 11th,so rub that up ye!!
