So, question: How many people think that keyboard breakdown in the background is just completely awesome around the 5:00 mark? Because I think it's the best part of the whole song, just fucking rocking those synths like a man.
They should do a whole song just with Panther going down on a synth set and just have like a 4 minute solo with just DOODEEDOODEEDOODEEDLEEDEEDALEE all over the place.
I think this and Light Up the Night are my favourite songs off this album. I've been listening to them pretty much constantly since they came out, and they haven't worn on me.
Is there a program (or better, a device) I can use to make my voice sound like the robot at the end? I'm guessing it's some kind of autotune but I've never known exactly which.
Also what the hell is the robot saying? I hear "This city" and "Forgive them"
Is there a program (or better, a device) I can use to make my voice sound like the robot at the end? I'm guessing it's some kind of autotune but I've never known exactly which.
I always think somebody is calling me at around 5:05 because there seems to be a faint telephone ring in the right speaker... very faint but every time I look to the right. haha
The story behind this song, and the character of Joe in general, reminds me of Detective Spooner from the movie version of I, Robot. He even gets into a hand-to-hand fight with a robot trying to kill him.
@forgotenm no, he is the asshole for coming on to a perfectly good song and trying to denote it. He isn't much different than a terrorist who attacks people because he dosen't like their customs or culture.
@Goatmon I didn't say someone who murders people, I said a terrorist. Their main goal is not to murder but to cause chaos and show people they are not afraid to die for their beliefs. If I said "someone who murders", I would have sad a murderer.
This is the most awesome song ever made. Even when I'm trying, I cannot find one thing wrong with this. The lyrics, the instrumental, the chorus, the flow, the singer... this is pure and unaltered epic win.
1.) How is the tempo too fast? As long as they remain consistent throughout the whole song, that really doesn't even matter.
2.)The background singers have no real range, but that's because they're background singers. They're there for support, the lead singers voice is very passionate at the end.
3.) I can't reply to this seriously. The lead singer reminds me of Freddie Mercury. Fuck your shit.
@Ghujelk I've heard them whisper about you, I've heard the men in the bars, I've seen the women lock their doors at night...lock your doors tonight...
so my friends got this entirely wrong view of act II he think in breaking out that it is light singing about how he is gonna break out of prison and that joe is some merc that broke him out. and a bunch of other stuff. but then the stuff in the description i saw that in a wiki and i told him and he said "well some one could have just edited it" but seeing it here and a pic of the actual album on google i will finally be able to prove him wrong!!!! aha!!!!!
Everything the Protomen have made is more epic than I could ever fit into one of these comments. The way the songs build and work off of each other, they're conveying a truly amazing tale. The emotions, the passion, the complexity and (more prominently in the first album) clever play of words bouncing from song to song in order to show more than a few meanings at one time. Even the music is a character all on it's own, like the great classic "Der Erlkönig".
I can hear them, the anger, the bitterness, the sadness of the sacrifices to Model W. Having consumed the souls of people throughout the world, the awakened Model W is the world's consciousness itself. Model W desires destruction... it desires that the Earth concludes its own autobiography... So be it!
@MaiAriSquee Yep, these are the descriptions given in the lyrics. The songs are meant to at least at first be heard while following them so you an get a good visual of what's going on. Every song's really just another part of a movie that is to play in your head...
Does anybody else notice how at first the woman choir sort of leads on before Joe, then as the song reaches its peak Joe leads the chorus? That's some pretty awesome shit right there.
Something just struck me. When he says "the wrong side of the light", I think he means it in both a literal and metaphorical manner. To be more precise, he is saying that you will die for opposing Wily and for literally walking on the wrong side of a street light. Any thoughts?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@PikeWarp I'll give you some help
1) the tempo is too fast, especially the chorus
2) the is ZERO range of vocals. It is all the same mono key
3) they would benefit from replacing the lead singer
JesusWasAnAsshole 7 months ago
@JesusWasAnAsshole
1.) the tempo is perfectly fine.
2.) it's a rock opera, thats expected he's speaking through song
3.) No they wouldn't he fits the character perfectly.

@JesusWasAnAsshole
1) no you just listen to too many slow songs - namely justin bieber
2) then your deaf. the voice is higher in light up the night and lower in breaking out
3) im sure that you like justin bieber more but dont talk trash to real music - even if it is a rock opera
