  • It's still 1989 in Japan. I wish it was still 1989 here!

  • This vid reminds me of how painful it is to watch most guitarists trying use their forearms/tensing up when playing fast. This guy knows its all in the wrist. Watch EVH or Marty Friedman speed pick...all wrist.

  • I hear a lot of Paul Gilbert in his playing as well as Malmsteen, but this guy even uses the same sliding technique as Greg Howe! Really impressed with this video.

  • What did you expect, he's asian.

  • I absolutely LOVE how many of these Yngwie inspired (in a good way) Japanese players use the really raw and not so distorted tone similar to Yngwies tone on his earlier records..Single coils, warm overdriven marshall-kind of tone..Nowhere to hide! You have to develop clean technique otherwise it will sound like shit. Compare this to some of the overprocessed shit tones you hear from, quite a few guitar "demons"

  • Daaang, he's got an amazingly economic picking technique. Very good, technically. I don't really like this demo song, but I've heard other songs from him (with band Ark Storm) and they're pretty good. Very interesting overall :>

  • Never heard of him but I'll give him his due. The guy can play.

  • the japanese version of Malmsteen!!!!!

  • fuckin perfect,,,WOW !!!!!!!!!!

  • Asian guy ftw!

  • joe stump is a malignant neoclassical tunour that must be excised from the music iself...but this guy is benign ..i like him

  • He has mastered economy picking, his hands barely move.Amazing!!

  • cracker ass crackers

  • Great great great sound.

  • Katsu Ohta is a BEAST!!!

  • no es estylo Yngwie.. pero suena bien

  • BUEN TONO !

  • the talent outweights the soul... but god theres just soo much talent......

  • I use those picks!

    Go Big Stubbies.

  • Yngweeeeee clonage

  • @jazzharmonie ну да,японцы научились клонировать людей,и первым клонировали Ингви)чисто японское качество получилось,ага

  • GREAT AND IMPRESSIVE PLAY!

  • i think this dude is the best japanese guitar player on youtube!

  • You'd best be trollin'. If you're not... LOL

  • @JimmyRichardsGuitar- it just my opinion homie! more like u are at best trollin on u-tube!

  • this song sounds more like something paul gilbert would play..malmsteen dont play his blues style like this..its to boxed in for malmsteen...malmsteen would fucking sweep arpeggios all over the fucking fret board and put in diminished runs..but this japan fucks other videos where he play neoclassical stuff..you cant fucking deny that he really wants to be Malmsteen him self..its like he is the japanese Joe stump who also thinks he is malmsteen..fuck them both.YNGWIE KICKS THEIR ASS!

  • he butt fucks stump. this guy has perfect technique

  • Hahahaha oh fuck xD i take that back, checked out some of his instructional vids and he is fucking good. i take my last comment back haha =]

  • Hmmm Dunno if its just me guys, but listening to this guy is like listening to a broken record =/. Reptitive licks and blues scale. dont get me wrong, hes really good =] but you cannot even begin to compare this chap to yngwie or gilbert... i think hes average.

  • Awesome phrasing - my new eastern guitar hero!!

  • His right hand is a copy/paste of Yngwie's

  • WTF! A japanese Malmsteen! LOL

  • nice scalloped fretboard, must be an yngwie sig

  • The title of this video just cracks me up!

-Katsu ohta super guitar play! :P

  • b r u t a l

  • This katsu chap looks like yngiwe, but plays pretty much as Paul Gilbert. Although he can perfectly immitate yngwie as well.

Is he well known in Japan ?

  • yes he is. many guitarists in Japan respects him, and Shinichi Kobayashi is one of them.

  • 0:38 - 0:54 is the best part, i had to play it bk like 10 times lol

  • what's a pentathonic? rofl.

  • Comment removed

  • it's a guithar scale! lol

  • In 2:33 i love this part....very fast. great!!!!

  • F'ing Yeah!!!! This guy is METAL AS BALLS! We all ought to celebrate his dedication.

  • this guy dont look like malmsteen this guy looks like vinnie moore and play like a jazz master or satriani lol jajaja

  • It's not mini Malmsteen!!!! It's mini Paul Gilbert!!!!! Same licks, same tone.....

  • yeah he is like both ...i feel so bad for guitar players who copy paste an have no signature...thats why yngwie gilbert macalpine vai satriani will stay untouched...cz u know who is playin as soon as u listen to them playin...but try to listen to that dude...u will be like oh thats yngwie no no wait its paul gilbert omg wait now its vai licks...thats lame...

  • You're a dummy if you think that sounds like Yngwie. Go back and listen to your Yngwie discs, if you even actually have any, then come back and listen to this.

  • lmao actually asswipe i played all yngwie tracks 5 years ago an now am recording..so when am tell u he these r yngwie licks u go fuck urself an practise...u never heard ynwgie playin blues before??? u never heard a track like this ?? what about katsu's album u dumb shit...doesnt sound like yngwie or gilbert at all..damn noob suckers like u should practise...thats why music sucks in this fuckin millenium ...all copy paste crap...just a loser like joe stump..stump rename yngwie's tracks an record

  • It's spelled "practice."

  • wow can u spell kanichi wa???

  • wow....this guy is REALLY REALLY good!

  • Mini Yngwie (^_^)

  • Katsu is god, imo is like hearing Yngwie in the old days. him and Ark Storm are great!.

  • i would much rather listen to this guy instead of malmsteen. he has Variety!!! not just neo classical all over there place.

  • yeah well when malmsteen started his first album u wouldnt say that ...dont compare yngwie to this dude..cz any solo he is playin is influenced by yngwie...yngwie made this music...what comes next r pple who r influenced by yngwie an other music.. so u listen to more variety...all thanks to malmsteen...he opened a new gate in music...still yngwie is the best...no one played guitar with style like him..all wanna be yngwie on stage so:P

  • you're telling me malmsteen inspired those jazz influenced verses and backing track there? no, he didnt. to compare this style to anything of malmsteen's would be like comparing kirk hammet to marty friedman. one is all about speed without care for note structure while the other plays what feels right.

and to say everyone wants to be malmsteen is grosely idiotic. the fact is, malmsteen is a douche. no on really likes him as a person. they just have to respect him as a guitarist.

  • dude my master is Joe Satriani. Malmsteen can go live his douche bag high and mighty life. I dont care for his playing and i don't care for his attitude. If you like that fast bland style of his, more power to you. If you like Far Beyond The Sun and everyone else does, consider me deaf to his power. i just plain dont like it.

  • dude you need to stop treat yngwie like a god, his overrated for his speed although i will say he is underrated for his vibrato

yngwie isn't really that original if you consider that his is entire style is based off people like pagannini

    p.s. guthrie govan ftw

oh yeah and this guy is pretty cool

  • well try to listen to hendrix u will feel da same..i know yngwie is influenced by beethoven etc..but did anyone took neo classical that way before??thats why its his style....an i dont think there is a track like far beyond the sun..u name it..nothin like this track.for me yngwie is far beyond the sun..an thats what i wanna do..but my real influence an i think its natural is tony macalpine ..i love yngwie but i never sounded like him...jus like tony...but copy paste like katsu haha thats crap

  • Richie Blackmore pioneered neoclassical guitar.

Btw Tony Macalpine is now with Ibanez guitars. :)

  • yeah i heard macalpine is joinin planet x...i just want a new album for tony macalpine ....i love his albums when he plays guitars an keyboards....i know even yngwie says richie is the man...no one denies that...but did yngwie copy paste from his influence like that dude?:P

  • Cool, Planet X are the shit.

Yngwie plays a lot of Al Di Meola influenced runs, as does almost everyone of that era and now. However he denies ever having listened to Al.

As for Katsu, I kinda wish he wouldnt dress up like Yngwie, tacky bling 'n all, as well as sit poised in front of Yngwies' fave amp (plexi), holding a guitar which now ONLY brings to mind the swedish tendon terrorizor, while playing licks which now SCREAM Yngwie/"I want to be a viking too"...

    Nice licks though.

  • yeah al di meola has influence on maslmsteen but i remember yngwie talkin about it...he didnt deny listenin to al di meola but he denies bands like metallica etc..yet when yngwie goes on classical guitar he sounds totally diff. than al di...i think dave martone is one of the best nowdays ..guthrie govan too..hmm someone named bane jelic is good too..an check jeff kollman's albums they r really great ...peace:)

  • You bash other people for, and quote, "copy paste" other people, yet you just admitted that you sound just like Tony MacAlpine.(And I doubt it.) You don't see any contradiction there at all? Please slap your english teacher for me.

  • i cant slap my english teacher cz she was ur mum...sounding like someone means guitar sound an modes u little shit...u dont get to tell me anythin u stupid ignorant...u dont know me or never heard me so shut up noob...an dont worry i never fucked my english teacher...i fucked her daughter...u know her?? hehehe

  • ....Somehow I know my post was lost on you, and you're pretty much just showing to everybody that you're a 5th grader, and a virgin at best.

  • an am supposing ur mom wasnt an english teacher...an i said i am not a virgin i fucked her daughter hmm u know her?? hehehehe

  • Yes, I know her, she said it was pity sex, and you were a premature ejaculator. She said you were just angrily thrusting away at her with that tiny excuse for a penis. O, and she needs to contact you cause she's having your kid. I told her just to abort it, just so she didn't have to make the same mistake your mother did. She's contemplating it.

  • ok dude seriouslyu have to stop this ur mum lied...actually am ur dad but she never told u an when u noticed that we really look alike u kept askin her an she had to tell u that am a bad fucker...an that man which u call dad is a good one...infact he never had kids ...he married ur mom after i travelled back to egypt...but i was sending money i never left u...look how old u got ..u even beginin to be smart just like ur dad which is me..but i dont hate ur step father..he is a good guy

  • That wasn't clever at all, man. Egypt? Come on, at least do like a creepy kind of response and say that you live like two towns away, and that you party it up every night using child support money or something. Come on, keep up, lol.

  • guy is good no doubt.. but pentatonic scales.. I just dont think they sound that good..

  • Um Yngwie barely uses pentatonic...

  • owned =3

  • Wow

  • he has good technique, his fretting hand moves so smoothly, like there's no wasted movement at all....

  • woah sounded more like paul gilbert!!!

  • this guys stile is total yngvie status maybe it is yngvie

  • I hope you are kidding. They should totally different...Where do you hear harmonic minor in this video?

  • it would be cool to see Katsu and Takayoshi perform a guitar battle! both players are amazing alternate pickers!

thanks for sharing this video! loving it :D

  • Muy bueno.

  • the best ALTERNATE picking ever...Yngwie was astonished after watching this guy play. any gaytallica wannabes trying to copy kirk solos? i'm sure almost non of pathetic americans can even copy kirk solo. they just talk shit forever.

  • where did you get that information about yngwie watching commenting on this?

  • what are you talkin' about? you think yngwie watches youtube and post replies? when he was on tour to japan, he was on japanese broadcast with few other japanese shredders, and one of them was katsu ohta.

  • i didnt mean literally commenting like post youtube comments, but what do i know, it aound awsome, lets se if i can fint it

  • lol, wtf

  • you are an idiot dude XD

  • It Alternate Universe Yngwie!

    Pretty Damn Cool.

  • this jap plays better and cleaner than yngwie nowadays, only the song writing is not so strong( I mean songs with vocals)and could be improved on next cds

  • Ha! Once again, you fail at recognising talent, janderson2000! I usually am more respectful than this, but with you there is no need. You already proved me how immature you were by thumbing doing every single reply I made to the silly comments you left on one of Shima's videos. Pick up an Ark Storm album and shove it down your complaint hole... You cleary have unresolved issues with Yngwie.

  • Yes, I do know Allan Holdsworth (look at my favorites), and yes, he definitely is very talented, BUT they both play very different genres so you can't really compare them. Still, I give you points for saying his name. Allan Holdsworth is probably the most intelligent thing you've said thus far. But stop saying douchebag... it's annoying!

  • Look closely! I think the Holdsworth video I favorited is in the 3rd page... Well, at least now I know that you actually CAN recognize talent (somewhat), and that you're not as ignorant as I first thought. I guess I just find it kinda odd that someone could hate a guitarist without even knowing a single thing about him... Oh, and I don't think I'll ever become as discriminating. I've known Katsu Ohta for at least four years now, and I've always loved his work. Ark Storm's albums are outstanding!

  • oh, Proto Cosmos...didn't see that there. Great song.

Anyhoo...I think you at least now have promise. I can't say the same for everyone. *cough*cough*

  • FONKAY!

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • nice :)

  • i cant post anymore on that discussion aparently so Im not gonna. good luck whining Namerican.

  • From about 1:40 on this guy shreds like a motherfucker. At the end it is extremely impressive. 2:35 or so. Jesus.

  • maybe I just have a different opinion and you gotta live with it.

maybe my sense of music is different from yours.

while i listen to all kinds of shit, you stick to a few styles, limiting your understanding for music.

hey bug off and stop picking up ridiculous fights.

    you must be Namerican

  • "...while i listen to all kinds of shit"

makugx,I have to agree with you this time. You "realy" probably listen to all kinds of shit!

I am happy cause I don't listen one shit at all!

Keep on listen shit while I'll still listen good music

  • oh so youre gonna point out that because i said shit instead of music you're smarter and you listen to better music.

because writing was what we were discussing..the IMPORTANCE of writing properly on youtube to an asshole.

wow..youre so smart u make me throw up of the commotion.

alright..be happy with your teletubbie music.

  • "asshole???"

I am not the one who listens shit!!!!

  • oh yeah sorry. now im the asshole.

cuz sonata arctica, kamelot, iron maiden, wintersun, kalma, norther , nightwish , yngwie malmsteen , joe satriani, x japan and so on are all shit? ok..I'm gonna let them know you said so. way to go smartie ;)

  • OMG: sonata arctica, kamelot, wintersun, kalma, norther , nightwish and all those gotic and power metal crap became the finest wine of the world according to you???

When you said good music I though: classical, fusion, jazz, bossa nova, and other genres, including tango.

When you said good rock music I though: real hard rock, shred rock, progressive, heavy metal and others like: Whitesnake, Vinnie Moore, Vai, Dio, George Bellas, Rainbow, Purple, Dream Theater, Rush etc.

  • I thought of the ones that most inspire me and the ones I think first when I think of bands I like.

I do listen to 80% of the bands you named, and have their discographies as well, but then again, the bands I named are closer to the zone of what ohta plays than the ones you mentioned.

The only one that gets to play something like this there would be dream theater.

  • No man, Ohta plays like Malmsteen. And Malmsteen major influences are: Blackmore (Rainbow, Deep Purple), Hendrix, Beethoven, Mozart and Bach.

So, those commercial shit you listen, then you also call "music", have nothing on it

  • yes, but the stuff I listen to ain't commercial. some of them are, but not all.

either way, its good music commercial or not.

people taking advantage of a good band and use it to make money doesn't take the credit of the band making good music away.

they all become commercial at some point, it doesn't affect it being music, maybe it changes it a bit but its still music.

and I have listened to all of that before, I am listening to newer stuff, not all the same, which brings the first debate.

  • Maby Jimi Hendrix is nota a good influence to you, cause this song has much similarity with Jimi´s song named "Fire".

  • I really Know what I am talking about....who doesn't is you, cause you said so absurd things that I can only conclude that you aren't a musician.

  • Maybe if I style my hair like Yngwie's, I can play that well, too...

  • here he demonstrates the track "A nuclear particle" from his solo album called "The right Brain Revloution".

  • Hella cool....but steer yourself away from malmsteen the look is gay and he's an ego-maniac plus you sound nothing like him...you do sound badass though.

  • This is just some very groovy playing. Think I heard something Greg Howe influenced runs there. Just hope, that all that isn't written...

  • Great playing my friend, keep it up, enjoy that guitar, 大声で演劇はMalmsteenによって青の私の版をまた見。 幸運!

  • yeah i love nothing more than watching people play to jam tracks -_-

  • did he break into malmsteens house and steal his cloths, and hairspray.

  • I admit I laughed at that. :P

  • Yeah.. he really looks like a Malmsteen´s Imitator or something. Real funny, but good playing.

  • hahaha

  • yeah - he also stole hie fat-fingers!

  • hehe

  • Whenever I watch a neoclassical metal video, I see the silly comments regarding Malmsteen and whatever else...

Who cares about that crap? Just enjoy the dang music! :D

  • Totally agree!

  • how could you watch this and not make a malmsteen comment?

  • By doing precisely what I said: ENJOYING THE DANG MUSIC. :D

  • I also searched for super guitar!! lol

  • lol i also looked for super guitar!

  • lol

  • yes this is what i searched for ... super guitar !

  • me too lmao

  • pults! caceteiro!

  • Fuckin awesome! TABS please!!!

  • Does it realy matter if he looks and has the same Guitar as Malmsteen?

    I dont think so.

Hes style of playing is totally different.

Hes obv influenced by Malmsteen with the guitar and the hair, the whole look.

    But who cares?

This guys an amazing guitarist, much like malmsteen, cant there be two amazing guitarists?

Stop talking shit just beacuase you wish you could play like this guy.

  • totally!

  • its like malmsteen on steroids ! hehehe

  • This dude's fuck'n AWESOME!

  • ok.. he play better(much better) than me.. but.. that its just a lot of scales... hes a copy of Y.malnsteen...just a fucking retard copy.. i mean.. that hair ??? the guitar?? just a copy....

  • it's just a load of scales... wats the big deal?

  • he's crap, wat kind of re-tard can't play like that! It's well easy.

  • The official title of this song is: A Nuclear Particle!

  • sei un buffone....non gli assomigli nemmeno schifoso verme!

  • wtf!!! he is SO FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOODD!!!!!

  • echate un requinto con el!!

  • WOW

  • why the fuck U MORONS always accuse any good guitarist of being Malmsteen clone?? THE FACT IS MALMSTEEN ALSO COPIED BACH AND PAGANINI.the fact of the matter is u r fuckin JEALOUS arent u?

  • While I agree with you main idea, the reason they say he's a clone is that he has the same guitar and looks a lot like him.

  • You're right. Plus, he's really not that much of a clone at all, it's mainly his tone that matches Yngwie, because his style is different (although obviously influenced).

  • he's better than Malmsteen, but not as good as Vito Bratta

  • WTF?!

  • faggots who say he sounds like malmsteen obviously has listen to any of his songs closely.

  • i like the way u use that whammy bar dude u rock !! luv the playin

  • haha,.. Malmsteen clone,.. even the guitar eh,.. his good though...

  • check out the band hes in Ark Storm they fxcking own! and malmsteen is garbage.. bashing on other guitarists yet.. romeo or petrucci would kill him.

  • you can change the drumm of the back for the 5th simphony of bethoben an sonjg will be the same (?)

  • MALMSTEEN (japan version) or katsu ohta???

  • XDD thats the exactly the copy of Yngwie Malmsteen
