I may be a Stars fan, but I, too, long for places like Quebec City, Hartford, and Winnipeg to get their teams back. All three cities had the best fanbases in hockey, and it sucks to see what Gary Bettman has done. (oh, and before anyone can say how crappy the Stars are, they've consistently been one of the better "Sun Belt" teams in the league)
Still gets me every time. I was there in the front row behind the Tampa Bay net that last game, I was 15 years old at the time, 28 now and I was crying that night and still can't get through this video without a tear or two. Thank you for posting, forever a Whalers fan!!!
man i'll miss the whalers they were not only my intro to hockey but sports in general i mean we have the wolfpack now (which i used to be on the team from 2002 to 2006) and i don't play proffesional hockey anymore just in my hometown but theres no team like the whalers and god dammit i wish they could've stayed hartford misses you
I made it through 20 seconds before I started getting sick to my stomach, time most certainly DOES NOT heal all wounds...
I'll watch the NHL again when Hartford, Quebec, or Winnipeg gets a team back and not a minute sooner. Of course I want the Whale back (desperately) but any team that comes back will be my new favorite. Fuck you Bettman, hope you get run over by a zamboni Karmanos...
Phoenix needs to go, same with Nashville Atlanta, Tampa, Florida. Those teams can move to Canada but one move to Hartford adn bring back the Whale. I could stare at that logo all day
@smash29 well said have a lot of family in CT ,Im a big bruins fan but miss the ole Adams Division and the rival Whalers. Nashville and Atlanta dont need hockey teams send em to Winnipeg or Halifax or Hartford who would love their team
I happened to be visiting family when I saw the Rangers play their final game in Hartford. I wish I could see more. I like the city of Hartford and although I'm in Islanders country (LI, NY), my heart always has a soft spot for the Whalers.
I was 10...and had plenty of time for my dad to take me to games. The Whalers were my introduction to hockey and I fell in love with the game. I don't know who you're a fan of in hockey or any sport for that matter, but imagine your first experience being a fan being taken away from you. Especially Connecticut; with the exception of college, CT is a sports wasteland.
Such classic moments in not only Hartford Whaler history but, NHL History as well. Thanks for posting this video as I share the same feelings any Whaler fan does thinking back to the team they loved.....

@MavsFan1982 Yep. While I hate southern teams for their lack of fans the 2 exceptions are the San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars.

The music in the background is the theme from EWTN's The Journey Home, that music sounds familiar to me.
