Eingraham apparently hasn't seen some of the other videos where you guys are emptying the clips. That technique really seems like Jim Grover. He trains with a double tap. Considering he taught Marine Spec Ops teams I think it is good to trust his expertise.
I dont generally read comments but some of the ones here are just silly. No one has to agree with your training style accept you and Erika. Props to both of you for actually being out there putting lead downrange. You filming it and posting is just a bonus to us...the viewer most of us are likely not out there 1/4 as much as you are. Cheers dude and keep posting them.
Do you realize you are teaching a potentially fatal practice? It is horrible practice to fire twice, scan, and re holster. There have been plenty of people killed in real combat because that is what they practice and that is what they did for real. In combat, we don't rise to the occasion, we fall to the level of our training. If you practice to fire twice and stop, that is exactly what you will do in real combat, and it could prove to be fatal.
@eingraham81 Teaching someone the basics isn't a fatal practice. Thanks for the input but we are doing just fine. Plus if your not smart enough to realize to shoot till the target is down, you shouldn't have a gun.
@cory07ink Cory, you may want to rethink this. Eingraham81 is correct. You are practicing a behavior. When under high stress you will lose all problem solving skills and creative thinking and will defer to learned behavior. I suggest you mix up your training to include shooting until you stop the bad guy and not re holster but instead stand ready and scan. Then, count to ten, scan again, then re holster. It will make a big difference in a real life live fire situation.
@Sandbag1300 Maybe this is not to the satisfaction of some viewers, but it would behoove these viewers to know that this is **not** the only technique they practice... dang- if you watch their vids, they practice a wide variety of techniques.
@cory07ink Also, for training it may be good to mix in some snap caps with live rounds in her magazine so she can practice tap, rack, eject, tap, rack.
Perhaps she should relax the arms but keep them close as possible to the firearm just one less step in the memory muscle building to deal with. Stay vigilant!
Its real funny to read all these comments from youtube "shooters". If its true she's only been shooting for 6 months, she is a quick learner! As they say tho, women who have the same trigger time as men tend to be better shooters. My wife absolutely amazed me the first time she shot. If she shoots as much as I do, she'd definitely be better than me. Great vid once again. Keep em coming.
@justmedriving thats nice to hear!!! ive been shooting about 6 months once every other weekend for a few months and now a couple of times a week!! Ive been working hard so hopefully I continue to get better!
@jrygrim note: Follow through or not to follow through?
What are you procedures for target engagement?
1. engage
2. quick asses on target
3. check six
or
1. engage
2. check six
3. check target
She may be really fast but it APPEARS that she is not following through or simulating in her mind that target is becoming incapacitated. She looks as though that she is committing a similar error to those who fire their shots and immediately on their last shot look to check for holes instead of FT.
@jrygrim Ok one shes been shooting for less than 6 months. Two you shouldn't analyze it to deep. Because i just as of a week or so ago got her to start turning her head to check consistently.
@cory07ink I mentioned it so that way she can break the routine that's already started settling in. I think the training you and I have had over the years is very similar and some of it might have even come from the same people. And as such knew that you would understand the importance of practicing as well as possible to establish a foundation of solid muscle memory. Baby steps are fine, just throwing my 2 cents
It's so nice seeing how much Erika has improved. Your way of showing her is great because your patient and take your time to explain and demonstrate. I would love to have some one on one training to hone some skill and drills. Thanks for sharing, take care.
Do you think it would be possible at some point in training to actually simulate an intruder with actually having to face a person. I know the FBI and others train with those sling doors that fly open, but maybe it could be done by not using live rounds or even a real gun. I think when confronted your heart races and the adrenalin will cause one to either do the right thing or make mistakes. I do realize muscle memory is very important too. I am trying to think of ways to train my girls.
@T2U2 What I'm trying to say is, can this be done in a house, with live people rather than those pop outs. Being in a field or in my case the thick woods is one thing, but practicing inside where its likely to happen would be helpful too. I am thinking nurf guns just for practice inside. Any ideas?
She has a terrific ass!
