  • I'm sorry, David Bromberg CANNOT sing... and yet, after more than 30 years I CANNOT stop listening to him. Oh, well...

  • Does anyone have the version with Harrison on guitar? I have it on record, but would like it on my computer.

  • David Bromberg wrote a great deal more than comedy. He is a brilliant musician AND maker of violins, among other skills. This song is so appropriate, considering the current protests..alms for the poor, indeed.

  • I always thought David Bromberg was one of the best comic songwriters of the 70s but some of his songs were creepy...in spite of that his thousand words painted very strong images and he's a legen in my mind!

  • @MainelyLove Help me out please! What other David Bromberg lyrics do you know when you say they are creepy? I am working on a story and I need some examples of his creepy lyrics.Thank you!

  • i love this song but the version i have doesnt have any horns on it. i like this version better.

  • Cool!

  • Is it from his album Demon in Disguise? I bought it after seeing him in a small club in New Haven, Ct, But my X took half the records and that went with them.Dam!

  • Co written by George Harrison

  • The line is.."I'll put a bullet right through your best LEATHER."

    You're welcome.

  • @14freebooter

    no, it's LIVER.

  • @14freebooter It's Liver, you know the one you can't live without.

  • @MrMelon49 Uh, no, it's LEATHER. How do I know this? Two ways:

    #2-Deductive reasoning:

It's not BEST liver because you only have one, good, bad, or indifferent. If he said "best kidney," well, maybe.

    #1Horse's Mouth:

David TOLD ME it was "leather" when I asked him @ The Stanhope House in N.J. back in the '80's.

    You're STILL welcome!

  • Didnt know Harrison and the Dead were involved. One great recording.

  • The studio version is great. George Harrison plays a mean slide guitar on that version.

  • His backup band on this was the Dead just off their Europe 72 tour.

  • Ikove this song, i think Bromberg co wrote it with George Harrison. the lyric is really goofy.

  • You're right, he did co write it with Harrison. I remember seeing them perform it together on the David Frost show around 1971

  • T PAIN TOP HAT
