  • I have a 11 year old red eared slider, he likes to be held sometimes and he would hiss when you pick him up.

  • I have 2 sliders and my bigger one hisses whenever I scratch its shell.

  • Omg my turtle does this too so I don't pick her up(: I looked this up to see if it was normal.

  • its not a warning or anything, it just scared, cuz when they breathe, they need space in their shell for the air, and when theyre scared, they try to fit in their shell, so the air is pushed out, making a hiss sound

  • The condition of the shell is terrible are you using any UV lighting?

  • Mine never ddi that xD mine acts like a dog. XD iam not kidding I know alot about turtles but mine follows me everywhere inside the tank and outside the tank xD and it likes being held.
