  • God bless you Can you tell me the components of the work and the link please I am required to have electricity Aacdetaar Me a Anfaustir to infostar15@ yahoo. Com

  • i wish i can build one too.

  • Thank you. cool setup.

  • it will work in a pinch, but possible winding failure, or armiture failure is that possible by having your one phase soft?

  • @orphanmonkey1 , Hello , I've been using this Same converter to run my Machine Tools for over ten years now and it still Runs smooth and Quiet, and I have not had to re-wind any of my Electric motors on any of the Machine tools I've been using with it.. Winding failure always can happen, and the odds are higher with such a set -up.

  • @jakrueg2pbg What is the voltage and amperage readings on the receiving end on your bench tools ?

  • Now that's American no how! Ingenius!

  • @KA9DSL , Thank-you and have the very best of the New Year : ) !

  • It's not true 3 phase. Put it on a oscilloscope and you won't find 3 sine waves. Your simulating the thrid phase which will never lead or lag the other phases.

  • @nerblebun It is true I made this set up cheaply and successfully to run my 3-phase equipment in my Tool room, and not take readings from my oscilloscope, If I cared I would spend a little more money and balance the third leg(with oil Caps) ,that is "Real" and not simulated., or my three phase motors on my equipment would have burned up , As a consequence of the 230 Volt single phase current hooked up to the three phase motor the third leg is what it is and off to the machine tool for use. : )

  • @jakrueg2pbg In my 35 years as an industrial/high voltage electrician...I've seen this done before by good old common sense individuals and it does work. However it's still not true 3 phase and the motor does not have the same effeciency rating you'll find stamped on the nameplate.A VFD specificly designed to operate a 3 phased motor from a single phase source is much more efficient. I'd like to add... good on ya bud...shows some real creative thinking.I know electricians who couldn't do this.

  • @nerblebun Thank-you for watching and your comments , and, Have a Happy New year !

  • You can do the same thing with a VFD for about $80. Much more effecient and a lot less work.

  • @nerblebun Not the same thing : ), apples and oranges : )

  • have you ever tried just hooking the load motor and the phase motor leads in parallel and and feeding the single phase across 208 volt winding you don't need the motor driving the 3 phase motor !!!

  • also wiring digram requied between single phase and three phase moter

  • i want made this please send me details of single phase moter watt rpm and also three phase moter details i am very thanking full of you mgrleather@yahoo.com

  • Hello I have a 20KVA generator esle is stopped, I would like to make it work with a 5.5 hp engine, need a wiring diagram. It is actually possible you send me?

  • i see you are only producing the 3rd phase, can this be done if you only had 1 single phase coming into your home? and not 2 phases by the looks of what u have going on

  • Probably the clearest explanation I've seen so far.

  • @yonmoore Thank-you : ), I tried to be very clear and Keep to the point..

  • where do you find a 3 phase motor??

  • @grimreaper957 , The three phase electric motor is very abundant in industrial applications that in general have tree phase power sources....,Also the three phase motor is cheaper to manufacture because there is no starting switches or start windings as in most single phase motors that require starting torque. Most elecric motor shops should have a three phase motor for sale at a reasonable price. : )

  • Question, the third leg comming out of the moter is it power or netrual?

  • @cmsracing I'm Happy to say there is"Power" induced out of the third Leg .

  • Thoughts on using a sprag between single and 3ph motors so the single isn't turning while the converter is performing?

  • @dmsentra The single phase motor has no E.M.F. while the converter is performing and the small rotor inside is well ballanced along with the well lubricated bearings I see no problem in leaving it just the way it is for my use..

  • For all the free-energy types wandering by, this is normal physics. I believe the 3 phase motor is operating as a synchronous rotary converter, plus also acts as a flywheel to help with surges and starting loads. But there's no free energy or overunity going on here.

Back in the days before vacuum tubes and transistors, "free spinning" motor/generators with no obvious external load were needed for power conversion from AC to DC, single phase to two phase, two phase to three phase, etc.

  • lol i hear kitty

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does it ever run out of energy?

  • in the uk we have 230v ac as our domestic single phase voltage, 415v is industrial 3 phase

  • hello sir jakrueg. can i have a (( diagram )) of your electric motor that sigle phase run the 3phase motor thats is cool project. sir can share that diagram to me for my summer project pls?????

  • can you teach me how to build one?

  • Single phase motor, Three phase motor, four phase... oups... four legged cat .....

    MMEEOOWWW !!!!

But more seriously, i first tought that you powered the 5 ÙHP three phase machine with the small single phase motor all the time, but when i saw you swith the 40 amp 240 volts circuit in, i saw that you were talking serious stuff !!!!!

  • You can run any 3 Ph motor with 220 or 240 simply adding a run cap and perhaps start cap if need be?

  • @mksboysal , Yes I've Made Those types of gadgets to start a three phase motor, but chose this method for reasons of perfomance, and to keep the stress off of the more valued machine tool motor....

  • @jakrueg2pbg I agree for the performance, better solution sometimes is necessary! Nice to know different ways that can resolve 3 ph problems.

    Keep up the good work.

  • @mksboysal Thank-you and have a Great day : ) Jeffery

  • @jakrueg2pbg Hi great video, we used to make them upward of 50 hp with a slip belt pulley to start them, then loosen the belt and let the big motor run. We used a small single phase motor to get it started, then slacked the belt (like the old timers did) and there you go 3 phase power from single phase. A lot of old wood working shops and machine shops used the same.. thanks, nice video

  • @mksboysal Yes, but it must be a specific value of capacitance based on what the load is at full power. Using 2 capacitors you can create all 3 phases. Oil filled capacitors work best and last longest. The only thing is, starting the moter. You will need a start circuit or an auxiliary motor as shown in the video.

  • Once da 3 phase is running is it powering itself?

  • @Sherekaan , No, it's not powering it-self once it's running.....

  • meau ,,,meeau....

  • Why would you couple these???

  • @MrElro449 Hello , I coupled them because less noise is made compared to belt and pully drive, And I saved space,as well as not having to use two pulleys and a belt...

  • @jakrueg2pbg ...nice and good job sir, you mention here right and i do believed, but can ask some question regarding on it if the shaft in not properly been align it will obviously the bearing will easily get broken due to the shake of either both motor isn't it? and the maintenance get more harder rather than belt drive, some curiosity only please forgive me but i do really need your replay, have a good day God Bless!!!

  • Hello, can you give more detail on the coupler between the two motors. I have a 10 hp idler that I can't pony start with an electric motor(1hp) I use a gas 5.5 hp motor too spin it up. I posted a video of them this week. Thanks

  • @3cl1 , Hello , The coupling between the two electric motors, I made from solid bar-stock, I'm a prescision toolmaker, I took the electric motor apart and turned the shaft down , the 1/4 h.p. has a flat on it to take set screws, and the 7.5 H.P.too, I carefully bored out and machined the coupling with-in .00002 of an in inch Concentric, An Electric motor shop can put you in touch with manufactured couplings for sale on the market to buy ,Have a great new year coming up , Jeffery : )
