  • Envonved in WHAT? KUKEN..what?? mrjonnewman tell me what you ment pls I really want to know. I've been trying to see chavez beyond what the glass screen tells me.

    Regards

  • another interesting fact... Hugo Chavez was released from jail after his failed coup by accident. He is supposed to still be in jail, but he was released due to a incorrectly filled out form. Another thing is that the US and Venezuela have more in common than many realize... the biggest similarity is that both of our countries are being run by conmen presidents

  • Thanks for the video. I am a US citizen, engaged to a citizen of Venezuela. I lived in Caracas as an English teacher for 3 months. I went there liking chavez... I came back hating him as much as I do Bush. I am so sick of Chavez's ridiculous claims... he needs to offer proof of his hateful & spiteful claims if he wants people to take him seriously. Everyday as the rift between the US and VZ gets larger, I worry more and more that my fiancee and I will not be allowed to eachothers countries

  • YES! EXACTLY! Thank you for those very logical words in these illogical times.

  • They didn't know that they were voting in a dictator. It's really not so hard to do though 'cause it seems like it's happening ever so slowly here in the U.S.

  • Here's a thought: Hugo chavez participated in a coup attempt (failed) in 1992 and was thrown in jail. If the argument is that they participated in a coup in 2002 then why isn't anyone in jail? i can tell you why, there's absolutely no proof for that. He just does what he likes, he dictates the law in Venezuela to his own benefit. He closed the channel because it didn't say what he wanted. In every channel, before Chavez, it was allowed to make fun of the government, now it's illegal?

  • luisdanielmesa, that TV station didn't "make fun" of the government, it worked with the CIA in the 2002 coup. That's treason in the U.S. too, you know! And you go to jail for treason. Chavez didn't put anyone in jail, he just simply shut down the station, which I think was generous compared to how the U.S. government would react in that same situation!

  • i live here. i´m not CIA. (i´m not that lucky). i wasn't paid. (i wish i had been, LOL). The same supreme court controlled by Chavez ruled that there was no coup. There's no people from that channel in jail, because there's no proof of the involvement of that channel in those events. Do some research first, don't get me wrong, i hate Bush, but that doesn't automatically make Chavez a good guy... be objective.

  • I hope you are not actually claiming that there is no proof of a coup in 2002. Those television stations are owned, just as the ones in the US are, by the few. They spout lies and pollute the conciousness of all people who absorb them. It is the wealthy that seek to keep power in both countries by keeping the people pacified with nonsense. Wake up luisdanielmesa and do your research.

  • Again, THE SUPREME COURT RULED THERE WAS NO COUP or else he wouldn't be in charge. Those television stations are the only ones that portray the day-to-day reality of poverty, do you think poor people go to VTV to ask for help? I hope you at least know what VTV is, google it, do YOUR research. Do you speak about the wealthy government officials that have bought PHANTOMS and HUMMERS? Check the stats: IMF, WB, UN has anything changed? you wouldn't know, obviously you don't live here.

  • If a company is CLOSED or SHUT DOWN as it has been said about RCTV, then it just ceases to work or produce whatever it was producing. Check their website and you'll see that they are not closed so this is just another big fat lie of the media regarding Chavez. He didn't "SHUT DOWN" that tv station, it simply is not broadcasting anymore in an open signal, but it still does via internet and through other channels in latin america. Soon they will be on cable in Venezuela.

  • dude you are so ugly..

    get a life!

  • Actually Chavez had always allowed a free press. When the right wing junta supported by the CIA and the TV stations owned by the petrol moguls overthrew Chavez, they banned freedom of journalism and closed down TV stations. When Chavez came back into power he allowed a free press again.

  • There is a very good documentary made by an Irish film company called 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' (Youtube), about the role of the private tv companies in the coup against Chavez. Have a look.

  • That "documentary" it´s chavista propaganda paid with petro-dollars full of lies....not a very good way to understand venezuelan situation

  • Actually, it's not. It was made by an indenpendent film company who happened to be filmimg a documentary in Venezuela prior to the coup. The company is The Irish Film Board.

  • Esa compañía irlandesa fue financiada por el gobierno chavista. Descontextualizan los hechos y presentan a los opositores a chavez como racistas y elitistas. Los venezolanos sabemos que eso no es cierto

  • You should do a better research about the situation, dont believe the word of many comunism fanatics telling you: RCTV are traitors!!.. the true is simple, Rctv have been taken down because political disagreement...

  • and sorry if MY english sux... i know it does!

  • your english isn't very good either so... i have my believeS and you have yours, i respect your opnion. i support RCTV.. VIVA LA LIBERTAD DE EXPRESION!!!

  • that your point of vew love but it's not right.

RCTV was the first chanel that fallowed chavez steps before he became president and broadcasted all his planes for the future... RCTV helped Chavez , Chavez ever rewarded the RCTV news team for their work ... now he is goin to Globovision (check that out, that another channel) he even whant to hit CNN, i mean is that same to u ... how he think he is Napoleon Bonaparte!!!!

  • i'm venezuelan and i can tell you that RCTV did participate in that but wasnt the only channel who did two others participated and are not been closed and it was 5 years ago so..and chavez is a bad man! so desparate situations require desperate measures (or something like that and sorry is my english sucks)

  • asi se dice hermano!

  • great response! my observations tell me Chavez is preventing the status quo of elite-run media from continuing. here in the U.S. the elite-run media has done everything to question the patriotism of dissenters while cheerleading us into war. don't let that happen to Venezuela, we support you Chavez!!!

  • See this: watch?v=1bY8yGASiq8 (see all 1a 2a 3a 4a) - W Chavez!

  • WOW, a reasonable vid response.

    Mr. 91

you make a good point, we don't live there. You don't live here (USA) does that stop you from having strong opinions about us???

  • non of you know the truth is soo sad hearing people from all over the world repeting what the venezuelan government wants the world to believe, being a venezuelan i'm aware that RCTV has made things against the government, but living here, who hasn't? it's a way of taking our freedom of speach when 10 years ago you could say whatever you wanted, soo if you are going to talk about a country, don't base your information on government columns only.

  • You have found the truth!

RCTV are traitors and anti-democratic. The people rose up against the coup and RCTV involvement in lies.

In fact, during the coup the first action was to take down the government owned channel, so that foreign owned media could control the people's reaction.

  • shut the fuck up if u don't know what the fuck u are talkin about!!!!!!!

  • So Chavez is a traitor as well then, he did the same when he tried his coup in 1992... AND SEVERAL WERE KILLED inside the TV station. How many were killed in the TV station in this so called coup attempt? (another proof that there was no coup). You don't even know the TV station's name for crying out loud. Google it. LOL.

  • Thank you for this info!
