@NinjaWarriorDude its a double ankle lock (or calf crush depending on where the pressure is applied) You feed one leg over the top of the other & then underhook the bottom one...hurts like hell!!!!
This is the best explained video about scisors take down. It's in russian and I speak spanish, but you know, body language is universal. I tried this technique time ago an partner resulted with an injury, but with this demonstration we can practice this move more safely.Five stars.
Also the second foot lock he uses at 1:15 is very painful ;) great!, but I don't know what is it's name, can someone tell me?
That leglock is called Ankle Lace or Cross Ankle Lock. The use of this takedown, Kani Basami, as it's called in Judo, is forbidden in both Judo and BJJ. All leglocks are also forbidden in Judo, but BJJ allows most of them (except the Heel Hook) at higher levels (Brown and Black belts, I think). Hope this helps. Excellent technique and demonstration, by the way!
@a0t I think he speaks english during all demonstartion. You are right he explaines very detailed and clear. However english is not his first language it is understandable, nevertheless it doesn't make his skill less exellent. He is real master and he is in his case.I like his style!!!

your technique is a little sloppy at the end of the sweep you should have more control of the legs the fly up in the air to far
MMAandBJJ 1 year ago
Can you do this technique if someone was punching you in the face? Or is this purely a "sportive" technique?
kiiski 1 year ago
@kiiski ya go look up anderson silva flying heel hook he uses a scissor takedown on him

wow nice leg bar
kingarrthas1 2 years ago
Very nice indeed. I see that there are 2 different entries of the scissor leg take down. Which is more effective?
carlosgrana 2 years ago
My opinion is the one he put one leg between his leg and turned it into a leg bar directly.

Is it prohibited on BJJ tournaments for white belts?
serdgeedgerunner 2 years ago
Usually a knee bar is illegal for white belts but I think the take down is legal
kkennett1 2 years ago
It's illegal at every level under IBJJF rules.

we refer to that as a "figure of 8" or an "over under" lock. If it's got an official name I'd be interested too!
SJJASambo 2 years ago 2
@SJJASambo
Double Achilles is the official name AFAIK.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Too bad your opponent is punching you between the eyes the whole time
hellgaur 2 years ago
Too bad you cant make sensible comments. Go look up Anderson Silva v Ryo Chonan to see if Chonan gets "punched between the eyes"
SJJASambo 2 years ago 7
Yes, because this is how fast you're suppose to do this technique.
It's not like he slowed it down for demonstration purposes or anything...
BlackstarSirius 2 years ago
@hellgaur That's funny, because between the eyes is where a punch would do the least amout of damage.

This is also a Judo throw.. whilst you cannot do it in a competition its quite neat ^^.
nooby324 3 years ago
Why can't you use it in competition?

if your higher leg is too low, you can break your opponent's knees
