Alan Bates talks about Harold Pinter & Richard O'Callaghan

Thank God there were people as generous as Bates in talking so gracefully about another gifted professional. O'Callaghan is a wonderfully versatile and alert actor and if you read this, look out for him on stage. Interesting too about Pinter's gifts as a great director for actors. I don't think he was a terribly good actor himself (not subtle and with a general violence) but he knew the craft inside out and his first wife was the best I have ever seen on stage - hence my name!
