@hofnerjoe Of course, the number of dental lab technicians using CAD/CAM these days is skyrocketing, so we're really using the same technology, aren't we? And unfortunately for your statement, the scientific research does not support your claim that lab restorations are 'far better', even with non-CAD/CAM restorations. Admittedly, most of the time they're more "beautiful", but even that is changing. I should put up some newer cases, because the new CEREC software makes beautiful crowns!

Have they broke yet? They look kinda thin for all porcelain especially considering the pfms chipped off. Personally I think pfms are more conservative; with proper reduction would be the better long term solution. Good luck though.

@keithooo123 Actually -- yes, they did break. Poor choice of materials, which was EmpressCAD. However, you are also correct about the lack of reduction. When we redid them the summer of 2010 in Emax, I remedied that situation and made sure to have at least 1.5mm occlusal reduction.

@virtualusis Sorry I missed your response earlier. As for anatomy -- how much anatomy do you get on crowns on severe bruxers who've worn their teeth pretty significantly? :-)

@virtualusis Forgot to mention, these crowns were also done with v 3.6 of the CEREC software. The newest version, 3.8, with Biogeneric proposals, are giving us far superior anatomy with minimal adjusting after glazing.

Interesting comment, Herb. I noticed from other comments you've made that you seem quite anti-CEREC, but can you please show us some of your work that must be so awesome? Oh wait.........you don't even have a single video up, no website, nada.

@Smilesbypayet My Dr. a prosthodontist is anti-ceritic (lol) too. As her business manager I want to offer this service to our patients but she also is convinced that the quality of the finished case will suffer. Her work is amazing, but it does take forever to deliver a case sometimes having to take multiple impresssions, and subjecting the patient to so many visits. I shoud also note that we do a lot of implants too, so the "single visit" hook is out the window.

@bumpsangrimez Well, we use Emax on top of Zirconia implant abutments on a regular basis, so that's actually not an issue. I've even done them on normal abutments, assuming I had at least 1.5mm thickness (2mm is even better).

As for the quality of the work: it's the old saying, "You get out of it what you put into it." If she takes the time and MASTERS Cerec, she can delivery gorgeous work.
