Boy, you're not kidding! The only place I found to mount all the switches are in the top dash compartment. The strobe module is mount under the rear deck. Good luck on that!
That thing is sweet. Couple questions. Out of curiosity what is your handicap (I know not all would stop from storm chasing) and is it legal to have those flashing lights in Ohio?
Thanks for the comment. I was involved in a car wreck a while back and have permanent spinal injuries, but it doesn't stop me from followiing one of my passions, the weather. The colors are leagal, but they still must be used only in a responsible way, and only when revelant. I rarely use them unless it's to assist first responders, or any alerts to haszzardous situations, like a tree in the roadway or flash floodings. Check out Xtreme Storm Chasers on Facebook. Thanks!
Usually, amber lights are not an issue so long they are used responsibly. I've even seen some chase vehicles with green but that color will soon be used by ODOT trucks and Mall Security Vehicles, so that option may not a good one. Mine are amber & white which provide plenty of warning.
I did. It was constantly receiving radio calls from just about every community near the lake shore. Actually, there are still some 2000 homes with out power in some of the lake shore communities. We have more severe weather forcast for tomorrow. Sounds like Deja Vue!!
I have a police scanner and a cb radio with the weather band. I'm currently in the process of getting my Ham Radio License. The space in there is very limited so I may eventually get a different vehicle for storm chasing.
Awesome!! We can never have enough spotters to help protect our communities. Communication is a must! Good training is vital as well to teach how to spot safely. Good luck on your rig! Hope to see more vids on it.
kool bro' , like the led setup , does anybody ever mistake you guys for lawenforcement ?be safe out in the field big homie , peace . lookin forward too seeing your builds !!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Thanks Homie!! Some motorists mistake the car for a patrol car on the highways. They tend to slow down when they see the car, which could be a good thing the way folks drive out here. But, I am adding reflective Skywarn decals to the car shortly so the car would be properly identified. I look forwards to making some new builds soon. Thanks for the comments.
Isn't that the whole idea of having the lights? To look cool and play cop? You really don't need them for storm spotting if you are positioned correctly.
I don't understand your "playing cop" analogy, but out here, we have many highways and the lights do provide added safety. The car is properly identified as a storm spotter vehicle. I have much respect for law inforcement and they also understand the vital need for certified and trained storm spotters. And yes, the car looks cool with the lights on.
Thank you! I'm still a novice at this and have only witnessed one bad storm, thus far. Thanks for the comment. BTW, looking to post a model video soon, Peace Bro!!
Where in the vehicle did you install your switch panel? Moving a strobe power unit from a taurus to ford fusion and don't see much accessible space.

Maybe a good church can save you! Would you tell that to a returning soldier who might just be in one?? Have a Blessed Day!
