  • Man I love those ALCo's. The smoke and their sounds that they are famous for, especially the thick black smoke in this video. So there's a C630M and a C424, is that right? I have two CN C424 models, I'd love to get some RS-18's if I could find some. Great Video, Favorited

  • Glad you enjoyed it, got more coming! Like I say, " I missed the steam era, but caught the ALCO's!" Yes, the consist was 5665, 4563, 4215. heading west through Grandville, Michigan in 1994. Thanks for your comment! Dean H.

  • I grew up in the 90's, my dad is from New Carlisle, Quebec, the center for railroading in the Gaspe. We went to my grandparents every summer so I grew up seeing VIA trains and CN ALCo's there, I missed trains on PEI by 3 years. That's why I love them so much. My grandparents house is 300 ft from the tracks and when the trees were small we used to see 4 trains a day, mainly ALCo powered. CN sold the line in 98 and all that runs is VIA's Chaleur (3x week) and the odd local, ex CP RS18 2x month

  • Thats about all we have to hold onto are the memories! Thanks for sharing!

  • Your welcome, my Grandfather drove ALCo's on the Gaspe Coast so he tells me many stories too.

  • Gotta love those Alcos! I see another MLW unit, 4215, was the third unit. Thanks for posting this.

  • The 4200's out lasted the 6 axles by a few years around here. Not as impressive but still an ALCO!
