You really do want to put rust remover on these old console screws. I've got an Xbox 360 controller that I've had for 2 years and it's got crap built up in the screws already.
I'm curious because you mentioned it, have you ever tried wet-sanding the lens with a fine grit and using some of that stuff they use for eyeglasses to fill in scratches? I wonder if that would help restore some functionality or just scatter the light.
@GuitarAudiologist Hmm... that may just do it. I'll test the process on some plexiglass first since it's the same acrylic material to see if it goes clear.
1) I never said we were going to focus exclusively on old games.
2) At the time we were planning to do an episode on all of those games, Fallout 3 included. Unfortunately, with time constraints and other ideas cropping up, that sort of got back burnered.
3) This was an early episode and we were still using the original opening sequence I cooked up. In fact, I'm still looking for a new opening sequence if anyone has any ideas...
@MrFallout396 Also, it kinda strikes me as odd that you would make such a judgment about a video based on its opening sequence. At the risk of using a cliche reference, isn't that like judging a book by its cover?
@XxDaRkPhAnTaSy I think the trick there would be changing the lens setup and putting in a higher sensitivity light detector.
Regular tube TV's are not flat either (I have a 'flat screen' tube TV, but even that uses lensing to help keep the image sort of semi-spherical and it works fine with my light zapper) that's where the change in the lensing would be important for a flat screen LCD/plasma/projector type setup. However, a more sensitive light sensor is the first problem that would be needed
Otherwise, tube type TV's are easier and easier to find for cheap or usually even free. I got my 40" for free just to take it off by brother's hands. I've given away about 4 32" and 28" screens myself. I indeed still even use a Sony Trinitron 20" CRT monitor that uses an aperture grille to give it extremely high resolutions. I prefer the trinitron for the simple reason that most (cheap) LCD displays don't do shadowing or contrast too well and the CRT is better at pure blacks and gradients.
