i think that his noise really affected his voice,it had lost its deepness,i know its normal that his voice will change without a plastic surgery too but it wouldn't had changed so fast..and if you compare the billie jean perfomance in each tour you'll see the diffrences,in the bad tour its the best one with lots if energy and good live singing,the dangerous,it's bad live singing with a bit less energy,the history tour no live singing,much less energy.i know that this is because of his age too.
