I was at this concert and was unknowingly right next to Trent in the mud and all of a sudden he jumps up on the stage and starts rocking out. Amazing experience but I would never do it again...Woodstock that is. NIN Rules.
@chrisfink1 .....that sounds epic as hell......i must ask.....is woodstock everything everyone says it is......ive always wished i coulda gone to at least one of em....even though they were like every 10 years r so!
And that's why I don't listen to the radio anymore, except for football, and a couple of choice programs here and there. I know I'm not alone, Reznor himself is pretty jaded with radio and mainstream, although he was a part of it not so long ago.
Funny how unlikely someone like NIN, Nirvana could ever have the same impact on mainstream. Looks like a picture of the past. Now it's all a bland- fest of urban pop crap. Maybe the tables will turn. Radio is dead to me.
@buzzingbee104 I mean really, what does it say about the modern music entertainment industry when the popular thing to do is make fun of brand new artists? It's almost as bad is the whole country making mockery of President Bush a popular joke, except we don't elect artists so it's ok to ridicule them if they suck. This country is beyond jaded. Which explains the severe lack of real artists, no one really cares anymore.
@TheAndiePerson Artists? What artists. the propped-up, warbly doll faces in for the quick buck and their minute of fame? They don't even write their own tunes. Nothing wrong ridiculing those idiots. They get used and disposed of before they can even blink.
There's no edge anymore. It's all money money money... Fuck them lot.
TBH, nothing's really changed, it's just on a bigger scale. There are still good bands they just get drowned by the noise.
@basstard013 Nobody wants to put advertisements on a radio station that plays controversial songs, and radios don't survive long without advertisements, so it's pretty vicious.
every mistake comes down to equipment fucking up. guitar doesnt work throw/break it thats the NIN way. theyre not gunna stop the song and wait till everythings fixed. then the tech comes in with the new guitar throws it on him again cant avoid missing lyrics thats just what happens when your equipment acts up. the fact they made this work with al the problems they were have which was a lot is why this is such a iconic performance not to mention NIN fucking kicks ass to start with
What the fuck, this performance is considered one of the best NIN performances ever. The energy was amazing, the equipment throwing and destruction was part of the early NIN era that showed the revolutionary music and energy that Trent brought to concerts. If they played like this post-Fragile era, they would retained alot more fans and appreciation they lost over the years.
@MsAlexz345 Any fans he lost were fair-weather to begin with. Fuck them. He's done nothing but mature an artist and consistently churn out amazing music his entire career. Hell, even his wife's band wasn't that bad. The man is a living legend. Fuck his fans that were in it for the petty destruction of those early days alone.
as a musician, I can understand their opinion that woodstock was one of their worst performances, equipment fucking up, mud in your eyes, little hard to breathe, I get it, but this performance is so punk rock on their part. such a big show, and televised on PPV & trent just chucks his guitar, misses some lines, just don't give a fuck! so, from the stand point of putting on a great fuckin show, this was an epic show, regardless of the "Event history" and crowd. fuck yeah, NIN!!!
The 90's had some great moments. Thanks to the Anita Hill vs. Clarence Thomas scandal, the name "Long Dong Silver" is now in our nation's public records. Thanks to NIN, a song with the lyrics "fist fuck" has become a landmark Grammy winner. That's right, "Long Dong Silver" and "fist fuck." Previous decades gave us "Deep Throat," "Pussy Galore," etc. I have no idea what this will mean to any of you, but I feel that all other topics of discussion have been exhausted. Here's the tangent.
I love NIN, and I love how they make even performances where the equipment was failing around them and they still gave an epically good one anyway, like here :-D
@err0r Possibly, but the AATCHB version of this song proves that Trent is capable of playing this song extremely well, so I wouldn't worry too much xD
One of my favorite NIN songs :) That's so awesome how he kept in time, guitar issues and all.
