Where did you get the statistic that 90 percent of bio diesel is made from raw unused vegetable oil? I am a Biological and Agricultutral Engineering student focused primarily on bio fuel production. Some of my research includes stalks and other inedible parts of crops and even the cultivation of inedible plants that can be converted to diesel. It may not be case that bio diesel production will inflate crop prices.
one thing though is on newer diesels you need to change some more things likes fuel hoses because the svo is a good cleaner and can deslove the hoses on the inside plus on the newer ones ill you my ford for example its a 96 powerstroke the injectors wont like to run on svo for long besides you will need one hell of a filter but if you have a indirect injection like the 82-95 ford diesels it will burn it all day. plus when you run it no mater the year it will clean all the trask out your tank.
Love IT!!! California needs to invest more in Green Tech!!! Prop 23 is down in the polls, but the Yes on 23 campaign just got a new influx of hot, anonymous cash, so we'll need to fend them off in the home stretch to Election Day.
Hit me back if you'd like to talk Prop 23. We're coming out with a bunch of great No on Prop 23 videos soon!
used cooking oil is actually one of many post consumer resources that we mix together then call it waste or trash ...thank you for developing a method for reusing oil ...for finding value essentially eliminating w....or t......perhaps it is time to think about trading fairly in these marketable post consumer products
I see alot of other videos where they added heet and some other stuff and then washed the oil. In this video they just heat and filtered it. Is this way better? it seems much easlier.
u say making bio drives crop prices up, well this is only true for the big corporations that make bio from new veg oil, i on the other hand make bio from WASTE veg oil for about 55cts a gallon and i dont have to do anything to my engine, running SVO for a long time will cause premature fuel system wear causing major costs, and this will happen even with the fuel heated (ask how i found this out) for the ammount of filtering you have to do any way may as well just add some chemicals and make bio!
The only thing I see is the local government crying for taxes because it bypasses gas station tax collection. Other then that as long as resturants operate then I see endless oil.
Not if you live in a cooler climate! I listened to guys like you and gummed up my IP, Injection lines and coked my injectors so badly I had to rebuild them.
I run two tanks now. One Diesel (to start and shut down) and the other has a homeade heater in it for the WVO.
you do need heaters veg oil is a lot thicker than diesel but you only need one heater not the 2 that they have fitted cos otherwise you will kill ypur engine and that would not be cool
nope, this only works on diesel cars, they use compression. When the oil gets compressed in the engine it generates heat and the veg oil ignites and combusts.
You need to heat the fuel at the tank to ensure that it will flow, and to avoid burning up your fuel pump. You need to maintain adequate temperature through the fuel filter and IP, then you need to apply additional heat prior to injection to ensure complete combustion and a proper spray pattern in the combustion chamber... Too much heat prior to the IP will cause it to fail. Too much heat at the tank will cause polymerization...
@hippygourmet better yet when you harvest your wvo don't get the hard fats. and don't run svo. it's only a step or two more to make biodiesel which is far superior for your vehicles lifespan. svo is horrible for your engine.
well ya idk if a ing burger king will just up and give you the grease. and the gas stations dont have a grease pump....how the are u supposed to get the oil to get to work? is it more efficient???
There are no diesel airplane engines....well not totally true, there are some newly certified diesel engines for planes in Europe and there has been many problems. Unlike cars, planes suffer from heavier engines and lower HP. I like how all these veg oil guys make it sound like THEY and ONLY THEY have some proprietary secret they invented. The problem as used Veg Oil becomes a commodity the price will go up. You can expect states to TAX it as well for road use.
There are several diesel airplanes, experimental planes, and engines in development, and a few shipping now. Weight is not an issue with modern alloys and horizontally opposed pistons. In WW2 both the Germans and Japanese used diesel aircraft. Check our Delta Hawk in Racine, WI. One prime mover is the high cost and limited worldwide availability of AVGAS.
Hey bro it's not too hard to do it. A little hard work and diligence and you can do this with your own hands besides that's some braggin rights right there bro
Good plug; just be careful with the concept that veggie oil is always free. 2 obstacles stand in your way and can get u fined or worse. In S.F. the oil is owned by the city and is bound for delivery by an oil recycling company that also owns the oil in their dumpster containers. Taking it from either that city or the recycler in any city is illegal.

One of the better videos on WVO on the web.
Clear, concise and entertaining.

You can refine waste vegetable oil into biodiesel.
sbflash311 2 years ago
This is a scam! Unmodified diesel engines can run on used cooking oil that has been filtered. Thats it! no special heaters are needed

dont you just need to heat the fuel in the tank then just send it to the motor the same as regular fuel?
what about my truck, there is already a big heating element right in the fuel bowl?
