the GTR takes no skill to drive. it's main purpose was to post the best times and records for the money, but it takes the driver out of the experience. it's basically operating a computer that tells the car what to do. i'd rather have the mustang and lose the race because at the end of the day, i have a RWD manual with over 500 hp and can really have tons of fun driving it

I just love how people have to hate on the Shelby. They just dont like the fact that an American Muscle will stomp a Import. I love GTR's too, or import cars for that matter. But let's be real here, American Muscle smashes in a quarter mile on imports or in any kind of drag. On the track though imports would do better.
The GTR should have smoked that Mustang. It WOULD take a super modded Shelby to barely beat a STOCK GTR. Mercy be on that Shelby if it comes across a modded GTR.
@TheTrueUSPatriot Actually, the GTR has a turbocharged V6 engine and puts out 550hp (give or take a bit) as well, with a little bit less torque (466lb/in compared to the Shelby's 500 lb/in). If you insist on your specifications, here they are, and it only proves my point further, as the GTR isn't even a V8 and is still putting out as much hp as the Shelby. Maybe YOU should analyze your specs before speaking out of ignorance.

@DJoogles It goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and that's with Launch control, 3.5 seconds without it dude. Don't try to exaggerate the truth. The mustang time is a bit higher but it'll eventually pass the GTR in higher gears, it's mainly due to it's weight and the weight of the engine that makes the 0-60 slightly slower than the GTR.

The GTR Can't do 0-60 times in 3 seconds all day because they built poorly the first year GTR's were breaking sometimes on the first use of launch control to the point Nissan Voids ther warranty if they see they used launch control and broke axles or tranny. A solid Rear Axle GT500 can launch hard all day and not worry about that.

A GT-R using launch control does about 11 seconds in 1/4.
0 to 60 in about 3secs. The GT-R can do that all day the Mustang will be back at the shop. Also the GT-R was not made for straight line racing, was made to go in the corners. The Mustang would be in the bushes.

@tEAm4z Your knowledge is limited. The 2009 GTR "launch control" essentially performed a neutral to 1st gear dump at 4500 RPM. Repeated launches caused stress damage in only about five GTRs. 2009 through 2012 models now load the 1st gear to launch without damage up to 4200 RPM. Launch control never voided the warranty on ANY GT-R. Disabling the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) voids the warranty, but is pointless since no VDC does not perceptively change the cars driving characteristics.

As for you saying a Mustang would be back in the shop all the time, completely false. I've seen Mustangs drag all day flat out and not have a single problem. If you look at it, this is a drag race, the GT-R is a turbo charged Japanese tuner car, designed for a track with a fair amount of corners. The Mustang is a super charged American muscle with lots of hp and built to do this.
@MC91335 Good thing this is a drag race then. No the GT-R can't do 3s 0-100 runs all day long. Maybe a couple of times. Its got super short gearing and 4wd so it accelerates fast despite being 1800kg. While good for acceleration, its bad for economy and breaking things under load (real world things). Good value car, but not the invincible monster its made out to be. And that mustang will run an easy 10s flat pass with a stock motor. And if something did break at least it'd be cheap:-)
@MC91335 This video is from May 2009 you f-in idiot, the 2009-11 GT-Rs don't do 60 in 3s and don't do the 1/4 in 11s and it's pretty easy for a Mustang GT500 that costs $40,000 less to beat a Jap V-6 in an acceleration contest at the track, and to rebuild the garbage transmissions in those models is $20,000 after they disintegrate from using launch control that voids the warranty if used for racing.

@DJoogles It goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and that's with Launch control, 3.5 seconds without it dude. Don't try to exaggerate the truth. The mustang time is a bit higher but it'll eventually pass the GTR in higher gears, it's mainly due to it's weight and the weight of the engine that makes the 0-60 slightly slower than the GTR.

The GTR Can't do 0-60 times in 3 seconds all day because they built poorly the first year GTR's were breaking sometimes on the first use of launch control to the point Nissan Voids ther warranty if they see they used launch control and broke axles or tranny. A solid Rear Axle GT500 can launch hard all day and not worry about that.

However, the system allows a maximum of 4 consecutive hard launches before locking itself out, after which it can be unlocked by driving normally for 1.5 miles. Tests by Edmund's Inside Line have shown the 2012 GT-R to achieve 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds with R-Mode Start activated and did the 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds going 122.7 MPH.[35]

A GT-R using launch control does about 11 seconds in 1/4.
0 to 60 in about 3secs. The GT-R can do that all day the Mustang will be back at the shop. Also the GT-R was not made for straight line racing, was made to go in the corners. The Mustang would be in the bushes.

@tEAm4z Your knowledge is limited. The 2009 GTR "launch control" essentially performed a neutral to 1st gear dump at 4500 RPM. Repeated launches caused stress damage in only about five GTRs. 2009 through 2012 models now load the 1st gear to launch without damage up to 4200 RPM. Launch control never voided the warranty on ANY GT-R. Disabling the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) voids the warranty, but is pointless since no VDC does not perceptively change the cars driving characteristics.

@MC91335 While that's nearly all true, this is a drag race, the GT-R chose to drag thinking it might stand a chance. As for you saying a Mustang would be back in the shop all the time, completely false. I've seen Mustangs drag all day flat out and not have a single problem. If you look at it, this is a drag race, the GT-R is a turbo charged Japanese tuner car, designed for a track with a fair amount of corners. The Mustang is a super charged American muscle with lots of hp and built to do this.

@MC91335 Good thing this is a drag race then. No the GT-R can't do 3s 0-100 runs all day long. Maybe a couple of times. Its got super short gearing and 4wd so it accelerates fast despite being 1800kg. While good for acceleration, its bad for economy and breaking things under load (real world things). Good value car, but not the invincible monster its made out to be. And that mustang will run an easy 10s flat pass with a stock motor. And if something did break at least it'd be cheap:-)
