  • I thought that looked familiar! Its been along time since I worked on a corvair. Sweet Idea! I did finally catch the vid on your new JD2. That thing is gonna move....can't wait for the finish. thanks for sharing.

  • Nice job. Do you have a bender/notcher? if so what kind? Also what's that motor/trans setup? very cool.

  • @HIPPIE1255 I have a JD2 type 2 tubing bender with a 1.5" x 5" radius die, and a cheap Harbor Freight Tubing notcher. All my 90* tubing joints are notched and any butt joints are sleeved with 1.25" ERW tube. I used techniques IAW AC 43-13 2A & 1B (FAA document for aviation repairs) The entire drivetrain is out of a 1961 Corvair rampside, although it may have already been a transplant from a Corsa by the time I got it. Numbers don't match, but it is a fun first build...
