  • This performance, Mak Yong is probably most authentic compared to other imported performance of Randai or Wayang Kulit Jawa, also being practised more widely instead of some intervention by the government office. Even if the work is banned in Kelantan, you could still find some form in Main Peteri ritual, more original performance of Kelantan.

  • kemas

  • kemas

  • saya orang Indonesia, bagus sekali pertunjukkannya. Inilah budaya Melayu yang Asli. Kalau nak tengok macam mana empayar2 melayu sebelum Islam tengoklah makyong.

  • cantik ketua dia..hey gadis melayu..ehem-ehem

  • @lemuriavi I'm not trying to convert you or anything, but Islam is really not a good religion. it is eating away your tradition and culture. be a free Muslim, who open his/her mind to other things except Islam...

respect your own ancestor and traditions, keep them even if they seems non-Islam...as long as it doesn't harm anyone, it's never a bad thing...no?

  • @jeffrey2530 can i ask you what's your priorty??? your religion,christian i guest,parent,freedom without religion's laws,culture and races,friends,,money,,

  • @jeffrey2530 de so lagi ambo ore klate ambo banggo jd oghe klate,,tok supo demo namo pom matsalleh celup-celup.,,maah la deh kawe oghe isle,,kawe mikir tok srupo demo,,demo mikir benda sene dale agamo demo ambek,,hok unde-unde susoh demo bue tohok laut tu bezo demo nga kawe..that's my traditional languages not arabs,,i'm proud of it,,dont say that my languages is inferior or kampung if you are not racist.

  • @jeffrey2530 Hey jeffrey, I do agree with you on most parts. But don't you think you're being harsh? You're just doing the things you're accusing them of. Nyante dikit, coy. The guy (lemuriavi) was fair enough to say that he doesn't agree with some of the laws they have in Malaysia, so I think you should try to be fair as well. Kalo nyampeinnya bener kan maksud lo juga jadi nyampe...

  • @lemuriavi oh and 1 more thing...we hate Arab's culture, it doesn't suit us. and you guys embrace it so fully, even throw away your Malay names for Arab's name...LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @lemuriavi Believe me, we do..:) that's the fact...outcasts are always considered as outcasts...:)

  • @lemuriavi In Malaysia, MALAY = ISLAM...how can you call that got nothing to do with religion??...LOL whoever married to Muslim or Malay, MUST convert to ISLAM...

    Think...

  • @lemuriavi I told you dy that most Indonesian Muslims are not really into Islam, their ID is Muslim but inside they are not, they still follow their old religion, those Kejawen...etc...(lots of tribes in Indonesia) only some Indonesians are Islam fanatics...:)

  • @lemuriavi Please deh, udah gw bilang kalo gw bukan orang barat, masih aja bilang kalo gw orang barat...haha

  • @lemuriavi You know what, find few Indonesian and ask your Malay friends to observe the way the Indonesians talk, and they will say "Oh they sounded nice, they are so formal...etc..etc" do the vice versa and the Indonesians will say the opposite things...

Malay language are considered as those Kampung language...which is very harsh and very low, and furthermore you guys lost your tradition dy...LOL how can we respect Malaysian Malay...???

  • @lemuriavi The reason why other religions are not banned because of the population of the Kaffir...:) simple...if there's only 1% kaffir in Malaysia, I don't think they will be allowed to practice their religion..:)

  • @lemuriavi told you that I'm Indonesian, don't blame western. those ideas are purely Islam way of doing things. In Islam, if your enemies are not obeying you, then force them to obey..that's what Islam really is. It's never a peaceful religion..

  • @jeffrey2530 Clearly u have a problem with malaysian, whereas us, despite the multiracial community still lived in harmony. Please, before u talk bad about the racism, or religion clashes in Malaysia, do take alook at your country first. I think your country has much more severe problem than us. K silly buddy.

  • @lemuriavi LOL Indonesian don't think of Malaysian as counterparts...LOL you guys are considered outcasts, your language "harsh", non-formal...you guys throw away your tradition and culture, and yet you guys call yourself part of "Nusantara"...?? don't make me laugh....

  • @lemuriavi Indonesia is a republic and we respect all religions, by law..Islam is treated equal with other religions, but in Malaysia it's different, Islam and Malay are superior...

am I wrong? the mistake in obvious, you guys are suiciding...LOL

  • @lemuriavi I think you know more of your country's situation more than I am...well, you know that the Chinese and Indians are not being treated fairly, and those Malays who wanted to convert are not allowed to..!! What kind of bullshit when someone converted to Islam, he/she is a bumiputra??...LOL do you think Muslim = Malays..?? In Indonesia lots of Christian Malays, Buddhist Malays, and even Hindhu Malays...

If Indonesia become an Islam country like Malaysia, our tradition will be lost

  • @lemuriavi don't blame the European...it's your own tribe's fault..You guys will extinct in no time. I can see lots of Arabic or Indian face Malays in Malaysia...haha...Congratulation dude..:)

  • @lemuriavi Hahaha....feel free to absorb arabic culture...you guys still throw away your tradition...:) all for the sake of being reborn in those so called "Heaven" haha...

  • @lemuriavi don't you notice that Malaysian Malays use Arabic name...??? go to Indonesia, and you will find that most Indonesian still use Sanskrit name...why u ask???...Indonesian keep their value deep in their blood...that's why...!!

  • @lemuriavi you know why it's the faster growing religion, coz it threatens those who doesn't embrace Islam, and as a Muslim yourself I believe you know that it's a great sin to leave Islam, rite?...with those fear, Islam bound people forcefully to itself, how could you call such a religion as Islam (aka peace..) ??...

it's the most brutal religion ever created...I'm just stating a fact here...no offence...

  • @lemuriavi AHA..!! now u admit it??...that Islam rejected ALL the traditions that contradict with Islam...??the Malay were Hindhu and Buddhist, almost ALL of the Malay traditions are strongly related with those 2 religions LOL...that's why I told you that the Malay itself who throw away their culture and keep those arabic culture

    I'm Indonesian okay...

your ancestor might be from Indonesia, but you never live in Indonesia, I know more Indonesia culture more than you.

    you only know Islam...:)

  • @lemuriavi You are wrong in most parts...Indonesia is still rich in tradition, in Semenanjung Malaysia, the tradition is currently almost extinct...You know nothing about Indonesia....:) Islam is not really a good way of life, it's more like middle eastern people way of life...a brutal way of life...and you guys stupidly accept and embrace it while throwing away your own tradition..!! believe me you guys lost your tradition not because of European colonization..:)

  • @lemuriavi Haha...are you sure?...Indonesia was colonize by many countries and were treated badly, but the tradition is still there...and do you know why Indonesian still preserve their tradition..?? because most Indonesian Muslims don't really study Islam, for them Islam is just a religion and that's all..not a way of life...:)

  • this is real malay culture from old malay kingdom at the north peninsuala???

  • @mohazak1 east coast malaysia,,kelantan,

  • this is the new batch of Mak Yong trained in Kota Bharu

  • aku penah menari makyong ni...tp skg ni xingt sgt da step die...mcm2 pengalaman penah ktowg lalui ms menari ni...besh sgt2...

  • @farisindonesia I agree. All in all, we share the same root in culture, throughout the region, from ancient Srivjiaya, Majapahit, Melaka right to the older ones like Champa and Khmer.

  • suke sgt tgk mokyong dengan mek mulong....

kekal kn tradisi budaya dn kesenian negara dri pupus

  • there are many gurus and many styles in performing, that's making it richer, sure ASWARA's would have more problem with language/ dialect. Aswara also tend to be over the top OTT with dressing and costuming, but for staging, may be it is better in ASWARA with full staging facilities

  • Islamic arabian tradition really destroy Malay tradition...it's the Malay's fault..that their tradition is lost...LOL

  • God no, Faris. Of course they wear songket too (this is a Malay dance after all). Our costumes are a bit more complicated than this (such as Palembang's Aesan Gede). Their dialect sounds funny to us because it's the dialect of Kelantan which borders Thailand.

  • Good job! :)

We need to see more of these stuff. Malaysia got some really wonderful and original culture. You people should be proud of this! We also have Mak Yong in Indonesia, but I believe that the origin of Mak Yong is from Malaysia (yes, I am an Indonesian and I am giving you an example to give credit where it's due). No, we won't claim it. Unlike you people, we appreciate the origin of each art and culture of the world.

  • @riezmien

    pgii terengganu,ade lar

  • If you are referring to the Palembang dance costumes it is different. Perhaps you are referring to the basic wear, headgear, samping, and bibs.

The introduction of this Dance Drama Mak Yung is always funny. They will crack jokes - but the drama always end with battle and tragedy.

Even general Malaysian find it difficult to understand the dialect. But if you follow the dance drama from beginning till the end, don't be surprise if you ended up in tears.

  • faris, they are telling stories, mainly speaking in Kelantanese dialect (Kelantan is one of M'sia's state) so we dun mind your confusion on what they are chanting about, some drama between a princess and an assistant of istana...

to the girls who would like to learn how to makyong...,there's makyong class, conduct by kak zizie zulkefli, held every weekend at pak ngah studio in prima setapak.....

    loadsa love,

    didi

  • kump kijang mas, kota bharu...anak murid che amat bunohan...

  • saya harap kelantan pelihara mak yong ni.. jadi macam dikir barat.. orang luar ambik tiru buat persembahan.. kononnya dikir barat.. tapi ROSAK!!! hancur.. rima/lagu/tema/dan loghat semua HANCUR!!! mungkin kena terbit buku guide lines.. lama kelamaan orang akan mula terima dikir barat asimilasi orang luar kelantan ni.. same goes to mak yong..menora.. bagih main peteri and etc..

  • Its actually a dance-drama

  • amazing..

was this heavily influenced by Hinduism?

was that why it was banned in some states in MAlaysia?

    let me get this straight..

mak yong is a dance? or a play?

  • Makyong is a dance used to entertain female royalty such as queens or princesses while their husband was away...

  • there should be one guy in mak yong.. with the parang.. but dunno where is he.. anyway mak yong is being played in kelantan. but nowadays.. hardly see ppl plays it.

  • its only in kelantan.. the origin.. yes like 'wayang kulit/main peteri'.. a lot of hinduism... but we do it as a play.. should be no problem.. the other one is 'Menora'.. totally gone already..

  • wow.. do youngsters take mak yong classes nowadays?

    where can you learn ?

  • used to be academy in kelantan.. under mak yong queen Khadijah awang.. but she passed away few years ago.. i have no idea already.. but you can try Pusat Seni Negara.. they can guide you.

  • @iamyie Penah tgk tak Raja Bersiong Versi Tengku Abdul Rahman PM KIta pertama itu Menujukankan Sebelum Islam org2 Melayu berbudaya yg Thai pakai sekrang ni memakai sama seperti orang2 KHMER.Thai adalah Bangsa terbaru yg menerima budaya INDOCHINA(mon-khmer & Malayanic).kajilah Thai takde hak nak Claim dia punya sebb kita yg guna dulu.so ini Boleh dikatakan milik melayu juga dikongsi Khmer,Cham,Malays & 2nd Coming Lao,Thai,Shah & Burmese.Itu Pakar Sejarah dunia kata bukan saya.jaga budaya kita!

  • the front lady that was singing..is amiera saila.....hehe

  • OMG this is REAL MAK YONG! The shit they show in ASWARA is a shame! I always knew there was something more to it...and today I saw it.

  • @Mohamana

Please don't say that! Makyong is an art & it's very subjective! The Makyong show in ASWARA is also one of the real, original Makyong which was passed down by Khatijah Awang, the Makyong legend.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mohamana

It is clear that you don't know the real Makyong. The Makyong show in ASWARA is the original one because the guru (teacher) is the 4th descendants of Makyong's family. Her name is Fatimah Abdullah and she is my Makyong teacher~

  • @Sigap86 Then clearly you're in denial. Ask the Khoo family that does research via Petronas...they will give you a reality check.

  • @Mohamana Khoo family? Who the hell are they? Many researchers agree that makyong performances in ASWARA is the original one and the Khoo family denied it? Wow! Then, they should become Makyong's teachers and show us the original Makyong... Haha, damn funny! They create their own (fake) theories about Makyong... XD

  • @EtaleK dah dua tahun aku komen video ni. baru arini aku baca reply ko. bahahaha

  • @EtaleK
