He is one quarter Russian. His biologic father was half-Russian and his biologic mother was Swedish. He was adopted by his half-Russian aunt and her Russian husband.

This Sobinin`s aria is so hard and difficult for tenors, that it is only recording of it. Nobody, but young Nicolai Gedda was able to sing it.

The fact - no tenors could sing it even in the Stalin`s Bolshoi Theatre.

Exceptional singing! Gedda is singing here in the best traditions of the Russian school! Very beatiful aria by great Glinka! One of my very favourite Russian operas. His voice is unique! Great Gedda! Thanks for posting.

Este señor tiene un registro muy muy alto, para mí es el tenor con los mejores agudos, puede alcanzar las notas sin necesidad de hacer falsetto.
