@roac7777 oh slavery's mentioned alright, the bible was written before the idea of an economy, slavery was totally necessary, it even goes into detail about proper slave systems in Leviticus.
@JustPlaytheTrack That does not make it right or moral. God is supposed to know everything and be the epitomy of morality. @Dodec84 The Romans and indeed the ancient Greeks were not influenced by the Jewish religion. I love reading fantasy but I prefer Lord of The Rings, more elves and dragons.
What I always wonder is if the ten commandments were so important, why did God wait so long to give them to humans? Why not give them to Adam & Eve? Derp.
@ridered300 Yes, we homo sapiens have been on earth for around 150,000 years, so god waits for 147,000 years with folded arms then thinks, well I cannot sit idly by any longer I better do something and tell mankind it is wrong to murder, rape and steal. I know I will allow my only son to be terribly tortured and killed so that I can forgive everyone. If god is so wise, why did he not just forgive?

@YourDarkAccomplice Actually Hel is the goddess of the underworld. Valhalla is the place Vikings go as a reward, where they are prepared for Ragnarok. Maybe God should do that instead of send about 99% of the population to hell.
@moorg745 Awesome. Thanks for the correction. I find it ironic that a more primitive culture (that gets laughed at by our highly "evolved" god/society) has it more sanely put that Yahweh.
I also don't recall ONE story from the Vikings of the Gods ever picking on humans when they were angry. If they had a problem, they took it out on each other. XD
@bloosh35 We don't know, that's the point. If you believe the answer lies within the bible, you should worry about feeling sorry for yourself...it's the biggest scam going...
Atheists are so funny hahahahahaha I'm sorry but it's like watching a 5 year old trying to figure something out haha they're so dumb it makes you laugh! Hahaha
Don't forget that you will be forgiven in the end
@lespaul9836 ..."something" like wondering where Santa Claus comes from? You know...fat "god" with a red hat for kids....some of us grew up. It's all closer to being sad, rather than funny. Brainwashed by a silly old book.....There is more evidence for Santa than "god"...the milk and cookies were gone!
"The story of Moses is actually borrowed from earlier (sic!) Greek (WTF) Roman (WTF!!!!!!) and Persian (sigh) cultures" -clearly, the author of this video knows near nothing about ancient history. The Moses story clearly predates the earliest contact the Judahites had with any of these (at least, directly), and is likely an indigenous mix of the Canaanite theophany meme and 1st-temple era priestly regulation.
@kevenbelangerharbour -Ad Hominem attacks are unnecessary. Find me a serious scholar who agrees with the statement "The story of Moses is actually borrowed from earlier Greek Roman and Persian cultures." (each one of the four factual claims!), and I'll show you a 1000-ton butterfly.
@againstjebelallawz Any historical faculties in universities (serious ones not like Pat Robertson financed university) will say you that the Moses story was written after Minos story... anyway show me yours... so out of you're 1000-ton butterfly (WTF?) show me solid evidence and i'll contanct my cousin doing his major in history...
@againstjebelallawz It's like saying the story of Mithra and Horus didn't influence the scriptures of Jesus because both origin center were so far away... Religion is like viruses... it reproduces fast, take control over the will of the host (in that case the human mind), make him die (his rationality or skepticism) and doesn't care about distance... It also mutates really fast considering the the number of sects, "subreligions" like christian catholicism and orthodoxy...
@kevenbelangerharbour -Sorry for the repeat. I find it difficult to imagine the Horus story influencing the Jesus story largely due to lack of similarity and other reasons such as those you mentioned. Mithra is more likely, but is still improbable, also due to poor parallels. Certainly christian sects mixed with Mithraism or Egyptian religion, but I can find no evidence either influenced the Gospels. See the kingdavid8 website.
@againstjebelallawz Well see Bill Maher video about Horus or if you dont want to ill take some big pictures for you... 1) Jesus and Horus sotry are very similar 2) Horus was also born form a virgin 3) On which date guess what? :P 4) He raised the dead 5)he got cruscified 4)raised from the dead 3 days after 5) bring a man ack to life (I dont remember his name but if you translate it means Lazzarus) 6) etc..
@kevenbelangerharbour I told you to see the kingdavid8 website. While Horus might have been born of a virgin, resurrected, and born on Dec 25, there are more likely influences for the Dec 25 date (not found in the Gospels) than Egyptian ones. The rest are found nowhere in the scholarly literature (but in many places on the Internet).
@againstjebelallawz come on only the fucking the birthday... cnat you see the big pictures... both born from a virgin, raised the dead, resurected after 3 days and got crucified... anyway im done with you....
@kevenbelangerharbour -I tell you again, "raised the dead", "after 3 days" and "crucified" (crucifixion is found nowhere in the pre-Greek Egyptian myths) are found nowhere in the scholarly literature. Please get better reading comprehension. Can I call your defection a victory?
@kevenbelangerharbour I cannot show you the 1000-ton butterfly yet because you found nothing I asked for. "Originating before" does not imply "influencing". My comments stand unchallenged. Greek, much less Roman, influence on the Moses story is rather far-fetched, since Judah did not border the Mediterranean, and it is highly unlikely a myth from some far-away coastal land would become an integral part of the laws of an inland kingdom.
@moorg745 A few words: Jesus Christ is coming and the earth will be almost desolate with a few people left right before he returns. The good new is that he saves if you want salvation
There is far too much to correct in your view points. A lot seems out of context. It's like you never tried to ever see things from a religious point of view,... which is fine except when you are trying to make a point. These points were all explained in the New Testament... now whether or not you believe it is divine or bullshit, I don't care but your interpretation is totally superficial for entertainment only trying to pass off as smart. I still like your videos though...
You athiests are all extremely condescending. Not all thiests are crazy mormon scientologists you know? Its not wrong for someone to have a personal, private faith in God/higher power. Stop trying to disprove everyone
@yh3e yea, we know you're not all like that, but we've seen the crazy things religions can do so we want to stop people from believing in something that's not there. your religion says that we must go to hell once we die, even if we are good people. i find that incredibly condescending.
I agree with most of what this video is saying but I don't think commandments against theft are completely covered by a commandment against deceit. Those who have the power to do whatever they like don't always try to conceal their crimes and that includes theft.
Though shall not kill is better translated as not murder. There are many other Greek words for kill, but ratach, the word in this verse, is better defined as a premeditated murder.
@TheSonorama21 Really? Fine, have it your way. We can have a world full of murder, adultery, lying, and thieves. :). I know we do now, but if there was absolutely NO moral law, everyone would be lying stealing committing adultery and murdering.
That's wrong. There are a lot of kind and honest people who have no religion. I've never believed in any of it but I'm still quite decent to others. I'm not married so I can't say much for the adultery rule, except that a lot of your fellow 'followers' like to break it. As if we need a law about lying, something humans constantly do. It's only when a lie hurts another person that it's a crime (under SECULAR laws). And we all know there's a great risk of bodily harm in stealing.
@TheSonorama21 But why? If your an atheist, why would you not want to do everything, steal everything, have everything if there is no punishment for what you do besides jail.
@ChristianKid99 This might be of a shock to you, but most people have morals. As in, don't do to another what you don't like they do to yourself. Even when there is no god involved.
You think I'd give away THE ONLY LIFE I HAVE rotting in jail just to steal stuff? If that's what you'd do without your belief in a deity, then I hardly think I'm the one here who needs guidance.
@ChristianKid99 So the only reason you dont steal, murder, rape etc is because your afraid of punishment or because you expect a reward for not doing it? Thats some righteous s**t right there.
I want you to seriously think about that and try to consider and picture yourself without faith, do you really think that all your morals and reasons for trying to lessen missery to others would be thrown out of the window?
Well, i hope you realise that if you say yes to that, then your NOT a good person
@ChristianKid99 That does not change the argument one bit. Murder in any society (including animal societies) woudl result in the eventual decline in population size. You do not ned a divine being to tell you not to murder. If you do, I'd hate to meet you.
@ChristianKid99 Survival of the fittest or natural selection, like gravity, is not a rule that we must follow but natural process that we have observed. In other words it happens whether we like it or not and what we think about it does not matter. Survival of the fittest still applies to humans but the number of people that can be defined as "fit" for survival has increased thanks to advances in science and medicine.
@ChristianKid99 That is actually a misconception. It works only for a species in total. For a community to thrive and surivive, they must cooperate. That is how social societies function and evolve. A person who does not cooperate in society is shunned and outcasted. It happens in human societies, it happens with other social animals. Nobody tells them they shoudl not murder their own kind.
@ChristianKid99 Actually we are. For us as a species to survive (or rather as communities), we must cooperate with each-other. To put it simply, humans do not survive along and survive based on cooperation with each-other. Hence common sense would tell you that if murder were condoned in any society, it would decrease the population to an unstable level.
@1234yersiman Then what the heck is natural selection all about. If I am wrong, please tell me, but natural selection and survival of the fittest are 2 evolutionary principles stating that only the strongest in society will survive. I guess were having a misunderstanding. By murder, I mean we'd basically ignore those who don't matter and let them die. We wouldn't help or care about people lesser to us or they wouldn't be as likely to reproduce. Correct?
@ChristianKid99 Incorrect. Surivival of the fittest is rather an oversimplification of natural selection. By allowing people who are less fit in a current society, it maximizes the gene difference in that society. Besides, societies change all the time, so some traits are favored more than other times. Also things like taking care of the poor, sick and old people have other benefits as well other than reproductive purposes than benefit society.
Don't condemn others, and God won't condemn you. God will be as hard on you as you are on others! He will treat you exactly as you treat them.
You can see the speck in your friends eye, but you don't notice the log in your own eye. How can you say, "My friend let me take the speck from your eye," When you don't see the log in your own eye? You're nothing but show-offs! First take the log out of your own eye. Then you can see how to take the speck from your friends eye.
My child don't turn away or become bitter when the lord corrects you. The lord corrects everyone he loves, just as parents correct their children. God bless everyone who has wisdom and common sense.
heh, they really should have seen the next set of comandment. Which one states: thou shalt not cook a baby goat in it's own mothers milk. I'm not kidding.
I remembered Blasphemy, Idolatry, thou shall have no other gods above God, Honour thy mother and thy father, remember the Sabbath and keep it holly, no stealing, no killing, and thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife.
and these guys don't realize that God.. says in the bible.. don't be too evil nor too good lest you destroy yourself..
this verse only proves God's full righteousness and perfection.. God secretly nudged the glory and entertainment of sin over to man.. through the devil.. because he wanted to make it seem like he was still perfect.. because he loves us so much he wanted to give us a full experience..
@cazopy i can prove how god is not perfect through the inconsistant triad, if he is all powerful and all knowing, he can't be all loving as he is allowing suffering to happen, if he is all all loving and all powerful he doesn't know how to stop suffering and if he is all knowing and all loving he isn't powerful enough to stop suffering.
you can't prove that god don't exist but you can destroy everything that he is
@cazopy i love it "don't be too evil" come on little johnny don't have too much ice cream before dinner..... crazy f^*%ing christians - i would love to just sit back and laugh at the whole hypocritical pack of you but damn your just too damn dangerous...
just been reading through these comments and someone has said about 'what god has done to people' he hasn't done anything to anyone he created man & women and they got themselves into poverty etc and their own mistakes. god didn't 'put' people in places like Africa and say "you are going to live in poverty". I respect everyone's point of view but come on at least think of what you have done wrong, it's not jesus' fault for the mistakes you make. please respect this comment.
@EnVTK Think about it. We did and do exactly what God planned for us to do. "I will create a race of beings that I KNOW will do this and that wrong and have this and that horrible stuff happen to them, some of which I will actively seek to enact, and all of this because I'll blame them for what they do even though they effectively had no choice in the matter because I knowingly created them to be that way!" See how that doesn't hold up at all? continued...
@EnVTK ...continued. Regardless of that, God is still inactive in easing the suffering or eliminating the problems that people are subsequently born into with no choice. All this whilst knowing it was going to happen due to his omnicience and so on. And don't even get me started on the whole "plan for everyone" thing.
Interesting. All I can say is that The Ten Commandments are pretty much a religiously ochestrated moral shell game. A mix of commonly accepted ethics just to appeal to the masses and moral absurdies which have no business in the moral equation. So all in all, it's all just another example of how Christianity/Judism or religion for the most part totally sucks at the moral guidance/responsibility/authority endeavor and sucks miserablely.
PEOPLE (You and I) JUST CHOOSE TO ENDULGE IN SIN!!!, making it look lk the laws are useless. Also, God said to follow him because it is for OUR benefit, not for his!!! You wanna live with him eternally or spend an eternity in a godless world?
@scrtwpnx Except if it is a non-believer.. then you can murder them.. oh yeah, you can rape women too... It is all in the bible.. that stupid hate filled book.
lol at people who think we are mocking god, when in fact we are mocking the stupidity of the people who think the bible, torah and quarn (spelling?) are 100% true.
I think a few of us are agnostic here and play with the idea of a form of god, but never a being described in your fantasy world.
@kempster1991 WOW, you demand respect for religion, but call atheist point of view to be stupid. Where is your respect for our point of view. You asking for research, but i think this video couldnt be made without researching. I thing you shoud research and stop blindly believing. Ask for prove, look for the truth. How can you be offended? I dont get ofended when somebody is praying next to my. I respect their point of view.
This video is stupid and you should be ashamed for posting it! You should maybe consider other peoples thoughts on religion! I my self am not perfect but please at least research Christianity because when the lord returns... Which he will you will either try to run away in shame or have to explain why you mocked the lord! Don't believe me now?? Well we will see! Ask for forgiveness and open your eyes!
@kempster1991 ... i hope, when you're laying on your death bed, you pray to go to heaven, and come back to life as a fucking blade of grass or some shit, so i can have my dog shit on you.
@kempster1991 oh, and BTW if lord ever comes back, i wont run away, i wont be ashamed and certainly i have nothing to explain. What i will do, is kicking his B*OLLOCKS so hard for things he has done to people i know (all of them believe in in him FYI)
@kempster1991 I did research Christianity. That's why I'm not Christian. Have you even read the whole bible? I'm serious. Front to back? If not... Then you are a sad creature to live your entire life believing in something you were TOLD to believe and never even had the desire to pick up the book that you (claim to) adore and read what is contained within its pages.
@gamefreak1000000 I don't steal things... Hm...So, BASICALLY, lack of belief is proof of the presence of something? Nothing=something? Wow. Mind is blown by stupidity. And if you do something wrong then you just kiss someone's ass then it's all good? Okay then. Wish that worked. I'd never have to turn in homework again!!!! I give people their wallets back every time, and go out of my way to do it. Because I LIKE doing it, not cause I'm afraid of eternal damnation.
@olafurhh03 Well, I believe the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's actual church and Kingdom on earth (the literal "true church") and I know it to be so by the power of the Holy Ghost. I testify that it is.
God placed himself in front of me to "guide me." Basically saying "you need guidance to prevent your mind from going to shit, because that's where you are headed. I wanna save a wasted mind." Although the intentions are well, this means that he thinks I'm an unquestioned fuck up and will go down the wrong path no matter what I do; without him. That I'm worthless, I'm stupid, I'm not good enough on my own, Thanks for believing in me, and you call yourself my father?!
@MrLeFunker lol not only does he think we're all fuck ups, but he made us this way (as a perfect creation) and then made so many of us atheists (to be sent to hell) or put us in a time and space in history that would never know or hear of his word and therefore condem to hell).
Atheists never can seem to get God out of their head. And that's O.K. I didn't know if there was a God until I read the Book of Mormon. Like Camus said, the truth is always the most absurd thing.
"Atheists never can seem to get God out of their head."
We could if you kept your mouth shut about your fantasies.
"the Book of Mormon"
... must be the most retarded religious text out there (aside perhaps the whole story Scientology has come up with). Joseph Smith was so obviously a con man that it strains belief how anybody can take him seriously.
@MomoTheBellyDancer I find the logic and rhetoric behind your arguments fascinating. But I'm being a jerk. I hope you're doing well Momo. I know the Book of Mormon is true. But I guess I can't know it for anyone else.
furthermore, Jesus says in Matthew 22: 36-40 that the two greatest commandments are "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength" and "to love your neighbor as yourself". I think this better sums up the ten commandments then the three posed in this video, and they come straight from Jesus.
Matthew 10:35-36 is actually quoted from Micah 7:6. Another example of a christian verse taken out of context. Just before this, Jesus was explaining how he will acknowledge those who acknowledge him, and then goes on to explain he is not going to make it easy. He want people to love God more than there families, which is where he quotes this passage. He is showing that it takes dedication and sacrifice to follow him. Not trying to start a debate, I am only 17, just putting it in context.
@bubblypickles good sentiment however everybody from every aspect imposes their beliefs one way or another. Everyone thinks their way is the only way. I'm an Atheist. I don't want people imposing their God on me as I don't impose my science and logical reasoning on others. I'm sick of the arguing and insults.
@paramattic70 I was just looking through the comments and noticed yours, those "Jesus Freaks" out there are crazy. I'm christian but I have to come to realize that what was said in the Bible was from a whole different era and that everything that was said in the Old Testament and New Testament has to be looked at a different way then how they looked at it 5000 years ago.
@Fruted1 The Old Testament states that it will and must always be the true word of god no matter what. Using Jesus as an excuse doesn't change that. Even if it did, that would mean your god was correcting himself, which means he'd made a mistake, which means he's just as much of a loser as the rest of us. Congratulations, you're worshiping a false entity based on idiocy and lies.
When do you think that the faith head fundie fascist cocksuckers will start violently hate crimeing us Heathens?

"The story of Moses is actually borrowed from earlier (sic!) Greek (WTF) Roman (WTF!!!!!!) and Persian (sigh) cultures" -clearly, the author of this video knows near nothing about ancient history. The Moses story clearly predates the earliest contact the Judahites had with any of these (at least, directly), and is likely an indigenous mix of the Canaanite theophany meme and 1st-temple era priestly regulation.

It also mutates really fast considering the the number of sects, "subreligions" like christian catholicism and orthodoxy...
kevenbelangerharbour 4 days ago
@kevenbelangerharbour -Sorry for the repeat. I find it difficult to imagine the Horus story influencing the Jesus story largely due to lack of similarity and other reasons such as those you mentioned. Mithra is more likely, but is still improbable, also due to poor parallels. Certainly christian sects mixed with Mithraism or Egyptian religion, but I can find no evidence either influenced the Gospels. See the kingdavid8 website.
againstjebelallawz 4 days ago
@againstjebelallawz Well see Bill Maher video about Horus or if you dont want to ill take some big pictures for you... 1) Jesus and Horus sotry are very similar 2) Horus was also born form a virgin 3) On which date guess what? :P 4) He raised the dead 5)he got cruscified 4)raised from the dead 3 days after 5) bring a man ack to life (I dont remember his name but if you translate it means Lazzarus) 6) etc..
kevenbelangerharbour 4 days ago
@kevenbelangerharbour I told you to see the kingdavid8 website. While Horus might have been born of a virgin, resurrected, and born on Dec 25, there are more likely influences for the Dec 25 date (not found in the Gospels) than Egyptian ones. The rest are found nowhere in the scholarly literature (but in many places on the Internet).

It's still a useless set of rules.
TheSonorama21 1 week ago
@TheSonorama21 Really? Fine, have it your way. We can have a world full of murder, adultery, lying, and thieves. :). I know we do now, but if there was absolutely NO moral law, everyone would be lying stealing committing adultery and murdering.
ChristianKid99 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99
TheSonorama21 1 week ago
@TheSonorama21 But why? If your an atheist, why would you not want to do everything, steal everything, have everything if there is no punishment for what you do besides jail.
ChristianKid99 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99 This might be of a shock to you, but most people have morals. As in, don't do to another what you don't like they do to yourself. Even when there is no god involved.
colouredmirrorball 1 week ago

You think I'd give away THE ONLY LIFE I HAVE rotting in jail just to steal stuff? If that's what you'd do without your belief in a deity, then I hardly think I'm the one here who needs guidance.
TheSonorama21 6 days ago
@ChristianKid99 So the only reason you dont steal, murder, rape etc is because your afraid of punishment or because you expect a reward for not doing it? Thats some righteous s**t right there.
I want you to seriously think about that and try to consider and picture yourself without faith, do you really think that all your morals and reasons for trying to lessen missery to others would be thrown out of the window?
Well, i hope you realise that if you say yes to that, then your NOT a good person
Porkusido 6 days ago
@ChristianKid99 I dont see how that changes the argument.
MrCrushus 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99 That does not change the argument one bit. Murder in any society (including animal societies) woudl result in the eventual decline in population size. You do not ned a divine being to tell you not to murder. If you do, I'd hate to meet you.
1234yersiman 1 week ago
@1234yersiman What happened to survival of the fittest? Hm? Should only the toughest humans survive, according to that evolutionary law?
ChristianKid99 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99 Survival of the fittest or natural selection, like gravity, is not a rule that we must follow but natural process that we have observed. In other words it happens whether we like it or not and what we think about it does not matter. Survival of the fittest still applies to humans but the number of people that can be defined as "fit" for survival has increased thanks to advances in science and medicine.
chuckluck53 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99 That is actually a misconception. It works only for a species in total. For a community to thrive and surivive, they must cooperate. That is how social societies function and evolve. A person who does not cooperate in society is shunned and outcasted. It happens in human societies, it happens with other social animals. Nobody tells them they shoudl not murder their own kind.
1234yersiman 1 week ago
@1234yersiman Um, aren't humans a "species in total"
ChristianKid99 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99 Actually we are. For us as a species to survive (or rather as communities), we must cooperate with each-other. To put it simply, humans do not survive along and survive based on cooperation with each-other. Hence common sense would tell you that if murder were condoned in any society, it would decrease the population to an unstable level.
1234yersiman 1 week ago
@1234yersiman Then what the heck is natural selection all about. If I am wrong, please tell me, but natural selection and survival of the fittest are 2 evolutionary principles stating that only the strongest in society will survive. I guess were having a misunderstanding. By murder, I mean we'd basically ignore those who don't matter and let them die. We wouldn't help or care about people lesser to us or they wouldn't be as likely to reproduce. Correct?
ChristianKid99 1 week ago
@ChristianKid99 Incorrect. Surivival of the fittest is rather an oversimplification of natural selection. By allowing people who are less fit in a current society, it maximizes the gene difference in that society. Besides, societies change all the time, so some traits are favored more than other times. Also things like taking care of the poor, sick and old people have other benefits as well other than reproductive purposes than benefit society.

furthermore, Jesus says in Matthew 22: 36-40 that the two greatest commandments are "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength" and "to love your neighbor as yourself".

@Fruted1 I assume you meant 500, writing in it's most basic form was just being developed 5000 years ago, the bible definately didn't exist.
