This was the most excited Jim Caldwell I've ever seen--more excited than when he hosted "Tic Tac Dough" and TNN's "Top Card". Imagine the line "..302, 348, 409, 453, 473, 482, 520, 525 with NO...UNBELIEVEABLE! I DON'T BELIEVE IT! OH MY GOD!" Seriously, you would have never heard anything like that from Jim. Legendary TV spot from Jim.
The US trade commission has stopped Dura Lube from doing these ridiculous ads saying they were deceptive and amounted to FRAUD. They are scams and everyone in these is a payed actor. Consumer reports tested this stuff doing the same tests. Engine locked up in 11 seconds. Anyone even with slight intelligence regarding how an engine operates would know immediately these claims are fraud
in conclusion i tried that other old product that was called Prolong, was supposed to be the next best product after duralube. i ran the Prolong in a different old car with no oil pressure just like with duralube but with Prolong the engine ate a valve and spring. true story. duralube worked for me but prolong failed. never experimented with z-max so i cant say if its worth a damn.
I don't reccomend u run any engine without oil pressure but my home Duralube test worked for me. I was doing donuts in an empty parking lot with no oil pressure and just Duralube coating the cylinder walls and it didn't blow up on me but that doesn't mean it will do the same for every engine. right now i'm only using Royal Purple 5W 30 motor oil and a K&N oil filter. i change the filter after 3000 miles but not the oil. after 6000 miles i change the filter and oil together
duralube is a synthetic itself so a synthetic oil wont hurt. if anything it will actually help more. nothin to fear. always better to under fill your oil than over fill.
I see, I will pour it in and (if you want) I will tell you how it is going. Once again, thank you for the feedback you've given me, you helped me a lot actually.
i had an old car i was gonna scrap and tested duralube in it before heading to the scrap yard. i ran the duralube in the engine with oil for a few days then drained everything from the pan and cranked it again and the damn thing ran great. it actually seemed to run smoother no BS. i took the car out that night and tried to blow it up doin donuts and burnouts but the engine never quit. sorry guys but that was my real experience with duralube. had no overheating problem either. i was impressed.
Mate I have bought an 8-oz DuraLube Advanced Engine Treatment bottle, the big question is, after all the comments I have read below, should I use it in my old 1.4 Fiat? Or will it ruin my engine, and my pocket to fix it?
I'm shocked. Duralube is currently under investigation by the government. Turns out none of their claims are substantiated at all. Seems they're just a bunch of crooks and liars.
That's really disappointing, because I was hoping to throw it in a snow blower...
I studied ignition theory, and this is what is wrong with splitfire claims. Gas is ignited by the heat of the spark. Anytime you split a spark you also split the voltage per spark. Which also splits the heat. What spitfie did in it;s pictures is that they used trick photography to catch 2 sparks at different intervals and claiming it was one spark split. The unsuspecting consumer got reemed.
1) Oil is 40% of your engine cooling and water is 60%.
2) Duralube, Motor up, slick 50, and several other oil additives got into trouble with the federal trade commission (FTC) fo consumer deception. Just google the product name and FTC.
3) Not only were the actual companies fined for doing this, but the people who did the commercials also knowingly deceived consumers and were fined also.
Some where made to give refunds in theform of coupons to buy other products. Companies who made only certain products were just fined. What I found strange was that each company could continue to sell their products as long as they removed their out landish claims.
Chlorine is the main ingredient in most of these additives. It makes your car run better, but at a cost. Chlorine is the precursor to hydrochloric acid. Which raises the acid content of your oil. Which increases chemical wear.
now tear that motor down right now and see which bearings are beginning to spin. i always heard a SBC will almost make more power than it ever has right before it blows up.

LOL play 0:42 thru 0:50 over and over and you'll laugh at these fake ass motherfuckers they remind me of those church evangilists rip off "heal heal" shouting pricks. huh ha ha huh ha ha huh ha ha derrr derrr derrr eeeeeeee bunch of retards. what a bunch of asinine bullshit. Damn I hate people.
These guys are Waaaaaaaaaay too excited. BTW any engine will run that long with no oil pressure. Didn't even look like he drained much anyways. Theres videos on here of engines running at WOT for 10 minutes with no oil or duralube.
That's all I got... sorry, the rest of it is lame anyways as I remember it, mostly just "call this number now" and Caldwell babbling with promotional stuff. I want to see the DuraShine commercial tho, I can't find that anywhere :\
Correct, it was a car wax. They spend most of the infomercial burning things with a laser, then at the end they shoot a car with it, and the DuraShine "protects" the car.
The best infomercial quote ever comes from it: "If it can stand up to that, the sun is, like, easy!"
This is one of my favorites -- Jim Caldwell has a gift for completely ridiculous marketing. Someone needs to post the 'DuraShine" infomercial though. That one is seriously the most entertaining and idiotic infomercial ever. The main selling point is this "lazer test", which is conducted in a completely unscientific way, and its never even really explained what (if anything) it has to do with the product. But SELL, it did!
I agree! I used DL on a newly rebuilt engine after the first oil change...around 121,000 miles later I overheated it and blew a head gasket. When I went to replace it, the honing marks were still visible inside the cylinder walls...no B.S.!!! All the elements in duralube are well known to help fight wear and friction.
Absolute truth, I'm already using it for years and can only confirm that the performance of the engine is much better, less fuel consumption. In addition to the claims-oil I use is shell 5W-40, engine spends less than 2dcl/15.000 km.
The guy sitting in the background putting his hand over his mouth in the striped shirt is a famous Nascar racer whose names escape me, I promise you he was getting some.
haha this brings me back when i was a kid i watched this on tv...i thought that something big was going on and now i realise that they are a bunch of rednecks with motor oil...haha and that hick with a red trucker hat...LOL...
Pretty funny because Duralube breaks carbon up at the molecular level, so oil will not stick to any steel with carbon in it, so basically it makes a motor fail. And Duralube burns over 250 degrees, so it basically will evaporate in the oil and ruin your engine by rusting barings and eroding there casings.
Chris..you need to post more of this...my buddy is the guy having the heart attack...this used to be on every night when we were in high school..we would sit around drinking and playing cards, watching this, and laughing at our buddy...I have not seen it in 15 years...great post
Engine was built with a supercharger, the producer wanted to drain all the oil out we thought he was nuts,so the big block Chevy was converted to a single carb. The engine was running while the oil was drained,a time of 32 mins with the power run at the end.Review of the dyno sheets showed without the windage of the oil the engine picked up at peak,32 horsepower. The pan was removed and bearings were inspected, no damage to crankshaft or other parts. The treatment did work.Yes,this was real
FTC sued Duralube for false claims. BTW the guy who is waving his arm in the forground when the guy with his hand on the lever looks away and lowers the RPM's (at the 21 second mark) was the owner of Duralube. I believe they went out of business as the product is no longer for sale.

I once hit a huge rock which pierced my oil pan.
Lost all my oil.
Me being a stupid teenager at the time, I drove it home normally.
Got it home, and the engine was on fire, and seized up.
Needless to say, it never started again.
Point being, any engine can run without oil.

I see, so I should not fear anything bad, if I follow the recommended usage I will have no problems at all.
Of course I will not run my engine without oil, I will put these 8 oz when I will have my oil changed - pretty soon in fact.
Thank you for the information, I believed myself that no one would produce something that would only damage things that it is meant to work with.
Cheers!!!
