This interview is one of the reasons why the original film versions are still the best! How can anybody reinvent the Edgar Allen Poe Series or Dr. Phibes? Vincent made these characters his own. And the fact that he could portray them with a "wicked sense of humor" makes Mr. Price even more fascinating.
I wish he done audio books of victorian horror stories because his voice has that creepy effect but you want to keep listening his voice and James Earl Jones have the most delightful voices
Vincent Price has always fascinated me. He was such a cheerful fellow and so intellectual. I also enjoyed Bela Lugosi as well. They just don't make people like that anymore. We are living in a modern slump I am afraid. But it will take realization and sheer will to turn this around. Until then, there are no great authentic people in Hollywood. At least not famous ones.
you just want to throw your arms around him and give him a big hug and kiss. he is so warm and charming and altogether appealing in every way. a great actor ,a humanitarian, a keen intellect and a superb wit. one of the funniest things i have ever seen is him comedy roast of bette davis, pure class.
I remember seeing him on Pebble Mill at One on UK tv... what a lovely gentleman he seemed to be. When some people die it really does cut deeply. So sad.
What a lovely gentleman... miss this great actor and human so much!
Do anyone know the theme used for the interview? I read at the end of the documantary that "Laura" by David Raksin from the Preminger movie is used. But I can't find this track on the score.
Vincent Price was not gay, however, as his daughter discloses in her beautiful biography of him,(no daddy dearest here), he had no problem with gays or lesbians, or hanging out with them-irregardless of the sick, toxic gossip that still plagues gay folks and their straight friends even today. How sad. Vincent Price was one of the finest actors and the most generous of artists. He created a school of art in Los Angeles, so that lower income people could also create and enjoy the Arts. The Best!!!
@JuanMacready -You sound like such a happy, intelligent, stable, person. What a pleasure to read your reply,-thank you.- And by the way,... "taht" is spelled : t h a t. - so bye, bye, now! -And keep on spreading joy!
don't desicrate his memory. even if it was true, it does no good to hash it out now. remember him for what he was....a giant among scary men and cinematic idols. he will forever be missed.
2 things he will be remembered for outside of movies were
1. his cooking and skill in the culinary arts
2. his love and knowlege, appreciation of art.
he had many fans and will always be remembered fondly by those of us who grew up with him in the fifties and sixites...the classic horror movie years.
I love this guy. He was a master of horror in a way more intelligent than other ways we saw. I love this kind of horror he describes. I admired him since childhood.
Thanks.. Many many thanks to you for posting this video. i'm french, and i missed this video on France 4 (the name of the channel). That's a very touching video. Vincent Price was a grat actor, and obviously a smart, nice, and gentle man. Please excuse me for ma bad english... And a big hello to all Price's fans !
Couldn't agree with you more. This interview is so refreshing to watch and a welcome change from the flock of egomaniacs who people today's tinseltown ;-)
Don't worry we can't identify one of today's spoiled egomaniac brats from another they won't last past their last pr, yet we'll remember these legends forever.
brilliant actor. won no awards, didn't receive critical acclaim as far as his movies are concerned(during his time), however he is probably the best at what he does, acting. If only actors nowadays can take inspiration, this man always gave his heart out no matter what character he was to play, no matter what role. Really a sad miss for the film industry.
Seems to be a fine gentleman full of wisdom and humorous wit as well.

i don't think he was gay, just that was a rumor that had circulated around.
my stance is he was a great actor and will be fondly remembered for his talent.

Why does it matter if he was gay or not?
I myself don't know if he's gay, because it's a thought that isn't really relevant to me, considering the talent he had.
