Ah, red-heads in love. I think I like this pairing better than the originals. Well, Eric/Ariel at least--I've always had a bit of a problem with the falling in love at first sight/sound thing at ages 16 and +20.

Also, where does it say Triton is the son of the god Poseidon? And anyway, Disney never followed the original familial connections anyway, or Hera would hate Hercules and Zeus would be a slut.

Uh...this wouldn't work. Reasons...they've never interacted with each other (save for probably House of Mouse, i've forgotten if they ever have on that...not that that show is even considered canon...), plus the "possible" relation thing (dude, that's just ick! xP), plus the fact they already have great significant others in Eric and Megara (and I happen to love Meg, she's awesome!).

Besides, the TV series are never canon, otherwise Hercules would have known Hades, Pain and Panic before he met them in the movie and Ariel would have met Flounder before she met him in TLM3 Ariel's Beginning.

Actually Ariel is not a Greek goddess or demi-god really. She is completely named by Disney who just made Triton her father. Triton is a son of Poseidon who is Zeus' brother. Since Hercules is Zeus's kid that would make Triton and Hercules first cousins and if Triton did actually have a daughter named Ariel this would make Hercules and Ariel 2nd cousins. so there's a little fun greek myth fact there :D

ie, a generation removed. (Hercules is Triton's cousin) So technically related. Dating cousins isn't looked down on in some cases, and some Greeks are pretty well known for their brother/sister relationships anyway.

Actually Triton is kind of the embodiment of Neptune and Posiedon based off the two ledgend..... I think... The real little mermaid story mentions no name of the "sea king" so they named the king Triton after the trident he uses. Which is the weapon that the two gods are protrayed using. Plus that would make Ariel his second cousin.

Technically Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid is not Hans Christian Andersen's famous tale. It's just a close adaptation. Besides, I'm just exploring the admittedly, kinda weird idea that Ariel and Hercules might be related because Ariel's father is Triton, who is the son of Poseidon, who is the brother of Zeus, whose son is Hercules. :D
