Dr Mitchell deserves respect for his illustrious career and the amazing things he did as an astronaut, but he wasn't there in his official capacity as an astronaut - he was there to talk about his astoundingly ignorant personal beliefs, which explicitly reject science and logic. No doubt, Goddard was a very important inventor, although I don't know if he was really the father of the space program. He did invent the first liquid-fueled rockets (though none reached altitudes higher than a mile or so). And the idea of sending rockets to space (and the moon) was his idea. But he didn't work directly for NASA (which was formed after his death) and the U.S. military rejected him. I think Wernher von Braun can properly take credit for fathering America's space program.
He's never had first hand experience, but yet due to anecdotal evidence passed on to him from people who lived in the area he grew up in, he's a firm believer in extra-terrestrials and their presence here on planet Earth.

Dr Edgar seems like a perfectly honest and sensible guy and is clearly a great American hero. But frankly speaking if he was giving evidence in a court case and being cross-examined by even an average attorney, his evidence would be ripped to shreds. His evidence is entirely second hand or third person. In legal parlance it is "hearsay". I think the UFO believing community need something far more substantial than this, but Dr Mitchell does deserve credit for coming forward.

That, along with confirmation that there is a black budget for UFO-related projects, makes this very significant testimony.

Dr Mitchell deserves respect for his illustrious career and the amazing things he did as an astronaut, but he wasn't there in his official capacity as an astronaut - he was there to talk about his astoundingly ignorant personal beliefs, which explicitly reject science and logic. No doubt, Goddard was a very important inventor, although I don't know if he was really the father of the space program. He did invent the first liquid-fueled rockets (though none reached altitudes higher than a mile or so). And the idea of sending rockets to space (and the moon) was his idea. But he didn't work directly for NASA (which was formed after his death) and the U.S. military rejected him. I think Wernher von Braun can properly take credit for fathering America's space program.

The other individual does talk to any of them and just spouts that he doesn't believe them. Nye has nothing. There is no other comparisons on either side about other forms of evidence be either side. What Nye needs to do is interview those that Edgar talked to otherwise Nye is just using up oxygen. A larger venue is need for more evidence. Edgar wins.

Dr Edgar seems like a perfectly honest and sensible guy and is clearly a great American hero. But frankly speaking if he was giving evidence in a court case and being cross-examined by even an average attorney, his evidence would be ripped to shreds. His evidence is entirely second hand or third person. In legal parlance it is "hearsay". I think the UFO believing community need something far more substantial than this, but Dr Mitchell does deserve credit for coming forward.

@fastwalker100 I agree with you that Mitchell's assertion does not constitute evidence that the Roswell crashed object was an alien craft, but what he does do is provide a character reference for those witnesses who claimed that it was. That, along with confirmation that there is a black budget for UFO-related projects, makes this very significant testimony.

@nofooIn Yes you are right and your perspective is very interesting. I must say again that I do not for an instant question the integrity of Dr Mitchell. It sems hard to believe that (with the testimonies of the numerous anonymous others) there isn't something to this story. However, going back to my earlier courtroom analogy, the evidence against the Government is purely circumstantial and for me at least , it does not constitute grounds for reasonable doubt.

But after studying the moon pictures and films combined with my experience in radiation-experiments i have come to the conclusion that the apollo-missions were impossible. And therefore all these astronauts are frauds. I don't know about ufo's but when it comes to apollo-missions the official debunkers are being paid. So no, not me.

Considering that the US was in the Cold War with Russia at the time of Roswell, National Security was the top priority at the time. No president or ruler of any government will know of anything about the UFO / Alien business. Well, because they only remain in government for less than 8 years then become REGULAR CITIZENS after. Unfortunately for Dr. Mitchell, his points clearly go against those 'facts' due to misinformation and disinformation of the government -- we see this on every report that they release on each unexplainable phenomena around the world (They consistenly change over time; becoming more ridiculous and far fetched). I tend to believe Mitchell on this since he was part of that 'government' who has covered 'it' all up in the first place.
