i kno this is easy but could u post "paradiddle johnny or "three camps/paradiddles/ratamacues" im currently learning "rythmania" but can also play "rollin in rhythm" which i used to get into a high school.
@iibrxhlgx I will gladly post those as soon as I can get a tripod and snare set back up for you. I haven't played Johnny in awhile but could get it back quickly.
so...I "mastered" Rhythmania more or less. Currently checking out "Old Sue" and would really like to hear it on YouTube. Couldn´t find. Has anyone here come across it - or perhaps CAN anyone put it up? It´ll be a REAL help! Thanks!!
I'll see about posting it. I used to be able to play it a long time ago... This book is open behind my practice pad in the living room so I'll see how bad it sounds when I try it now. :-)
cool, I´d really appreciate this. Old Sue is a bitch;-) if you want to play it nicely. Definitely needs some time. Later on, we´ll load up Rollin´in Rhythm, Rhythmania and Old Sue;-).
Hi there. I am just studying this solo together with a friend. Love that book a lot! Another nice one is "Rollin´in Rhythm". Playing this on tom toms and snare is really cool.
Also try Old Sue. It's fun once you get over wanting to kill him for writing it lol. It's so complicated that I had to memorize it before I could get it up to speed.
What do you mean by "even more relation"? Thanks for watching and giving me tips. I did play this totally straight, I was taught it that way and never thought to swing it, like the title suggests. Doh.
so sorry - i meant to type try for even more relaxation - don't swing everything but, stay loose and there will be moments you can swing it - Mr. Wilcoxon would often play vibraphone to some of his solos and Drum Method things
@snarewolf63 Just Curious snarewolf, how did Mr Wilcoxin have you play the drags/ruffs in his books? Obviously, they should be played open but everybody has different ways of playing it "open". Some people play the ruffs open = to a 16th note. For example; Lesson 25 counting 1e and ah would he say play the drag right on the e or closer to the and? Just curious as to how he had you play the grace notes. Thank you!
This is from "Modern Rudimental Swing Solos for the Advanced Drummer" by Wilcoxon (I might have screwed up the name a little). It has a ton of great solos in it. Another is a solo book by Ludwig, can't remember the name right now. For harder and more musical/interesting snare solos try on "Douze Etudes" by Delecluse. They are very hard though. Also, "Portraits in Rhythm by Anthony Cirone is great but INSANELY hard. The Delecluse Etudes are my favorite though.
This is definitely NOT the first time through. I learned this piece years back and brought it back out just recently. I have so many snare solos to work on that I doubt I'll perfect this one. Thanks for checking it out.

Probably just the camera mic, but for concert snare type stuff you should make the head pretty tight

Cheers! Will try Old Sue. Thing is, I need to grasp (playwise) Rhythmania first.

I like your playing. Can you recommend any good snare solo books similar to this?

maybe you can smile and enjoy more your study, and make more difference with the accents and the normal beats, congrats!

Great job!
Its nice to see someone playing music on the snare. Did you practice before you recorded, or is this the first time through?
Again, great job. Its not quite perfect, but a little more practicing would change that.
