I`ll see him next year in Vienna - his paintings are from december 2011 to february 2012 in the "Albertina"! Sooo great!! Thank you for this video - awesome work!!!
I wish I could use this video in my Magritte presentation, but it's too long. :( We have a limit of 5-10 minutes. This is very well done. Love it! Great job!
Go to the kulturbulenz channel and check out the trailer for "Mémoire de la nuit", a surrealistic theatre-piece inspired by René Magritte, quite extra-ordinary too!
great video thank you for posting it! i would appreciate it if someone could tell me where i can find more info online about these paintings and the interpretation of his art..
Rene Magritte is my favorite surrealist painter, but there's a few here I've never seen before. Thank you for bringing these treasures to my attention. You're like an archaeologist who has used her fine brush to dust off some hidden gems. Now I'm craving at least a dozen of these for my walls. Guess I'll be paying a visit to some online art-for-sale sites.
could someone tell me the name of the picture in the thumbnail? I have a copy of it, and i've always liked it, but never found out what it was called?
Good job. I'm also a fan of Magritte, especially "Dominion of Light", which I saw at the Menil Collection in Houston. His works (and surrealism in general) reminds me of M.C. Escher's more mathematically-inclined works. Coincidentally, both Escher and Magritte were born in 1898.
I have often looked and gazed upon myself and seen a walking naked pelvis and have wished that my peritoneum (that concealed membrane), would falter and rupture forth and put in evidence the true nature of my countenance. Exquisite mind Magritte!
A wonderful video. The lightest art book I've carried in years, with musical accompaniment to boot. A pleasure ! Magritte's simplicity is what has alwaysattracted me to his work.I copied a few and changed them around a bit in my younger days. I wish I still had them or knew where they are.
anyone know the meaning of the recurrent elements in Magritte's paintings, like the tube, the woman body, the lion, etc? is there any rational symbolism or just dream-art?
To answer almost in his own words: there is no real composition in his work, because composition would inherently mean that his work can be decomposed, is dividable, that all can be looked at seperately. This is not the case. Analysing his paintings is therefore unnecessary. Everybody is free to see in them what he or she wants, and he challenges the spectator to make up his own mind. That's at least how I interpret it.
With his dark suit and bowler hat, Magritte only had to grow a dark moustache in order to look exactly like his illustrious compatriots, Dupond et Dupont=Thomson and Thompson=Hernandez y Fernandez.
Magritte,Dali...is mankind in this world just for such high mind shining??thanks!!!!grandissimo, grazie,in modo paricolare xché,pur italiano, vivo dove cose cosí é,purtroppo, ben difficile veder, ancor di ppiú trovar chi le apprezza...GRAZIE DI CUORE!!!
I love this particular type of surrealism, the more naturalistic works of Tanguy, Magritte or Dali (as opposed to the more abstract or Dada influenced work of say Matta or Andre Masson). It is marvelous, irrational and accidental!! The game of Telephone elevated to a philosophic method...
2>His painting technique IMHO leaves much desired, but what a mind! If Glenn Gould's playing, as has been said, is "like an x-ray of the music", Rene Magritte's paintings are an x-ray of our subconscious.
1>This is fantastic. Some of these I have never seen before. Thank you! Magritte holds a special place in my heart. Empire of Light is one of my favorites. I feel his he is not given enough respect by most historians.
Magritte, to me, deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. His technical expertise shines through his surrealistic subject matter. Thank you for your comment and your compliment! Peace.
Thank you, I tried to find something that carried the mind along as the paintings went by. This one took me weeks to find music that was a great match, but it was worth the wait. Thank you for your comment and for watching!

brendafohio, who is it performed by?

It's another one I got from a Dogpile audio search. I haven't a clue. Sometimes they do not tell you the composer nor the performer. I am sorry.
