I don't think of it as a specific timing for the technique, but you at least have to hit the person. I often use a short hop for several other attacks (uar, dair, bair, fair to side tilt, etc.) so this technique helps me sometimes in trapping the opponent for a somewhat powerfull attack or throwing them.

dude before when i watched this video i was like "wtf is this" like a couple of months ago. i just found out today this technice can help alot. i take someone throw them down fire hop and pk missle them. they cant escape. i already new about this but boy is it helpful.

I've never played EB Zero (Mother 1), but I knew this song was from that game.

However, in Brawl, they name the song "Mother 2" for some obscene reason.

Lol. No it isn't. Mother 1 is called Earthbound Zero in North America. It had Ninten in it.

Mother 2 was released as Earthbound. It has Ness in it.

Mother 3 hasn't been released in North America and will likely never be because Nintendo of America doesn't even know the mother series exists. This game has Lucas and Flint etc. in it.

NoA knows what Mother 3 is. An official statement from NoA says they have no offical plans on porting Mother 3 to any console or handheld as of yet. They may in the future however. Until then theres a fan translation in the works which is near completion.
