Hmm... funny how everyone chortles when violence occurs during a rugby match between two of the most esteemed academic institutions in the country, yet if such incidents occur during a football game it receives widespread condemnation.
@tomd2103 No offence, but you've obviously never played rugby. There is a huge difference between players in football and rugby, mentality wise. With rugby being such a physical game, testosterone and adrenaline and a certain degree of anger are always pumping through you. Scuffles always happen, always have.
@hakametal Played both football and rugby and can't say I had more of a testosterone and adrenaline rush playing rugby. My point was more to do with how both sports are conceived in the media and public. Fighting during a rugby match is laughed at and off the pitch antics are considered high jinks. Fight during a football game is a disgrace and any off field bad behaviour is shameful. It is a class thing I'm afraid.
so much unnecessary aggression in English club rugby. Love it!
