From an economic viewpoint, although at a higher cost, serving fresh food for school lunches will boost America's domestic demand! The public money is not spent in vain. Instead, the money will go to the depressed farm industry, and come back as increased jobs and tax money. So make a choice: Spend more money for the health of our children, or stick to bureaucracy and sacrifice the children's health. It's up to you.

Lol the fresh food option looks so much tastier... but its all about money at the end of the day. Least you guys get school lunches, in New Zealand you bring your own or you buy it from the tuck shop. Theres so 'cafeteria' area. You just sit on benches and eat :)

The government should stop spending so much money on reconfiguring the food pyramid and making propaganda. They need to instead put the ideas into action and provide the healthy foods they advertise into school cafeterias. Shame on the government for not practicing what it preaches!

Even sandwiches can be healthy and fresh, without elaborate cooking. Whole grain breads, natural cheeses, fresh vegetables, bean dips, ethically made natural sausages.
