I first visited Cuba in 1992, just after the fall of the USSR. Times were quickly deteriorating. Cubans, esp. Black Cubans, suspect. Authorities thought I was Cuban, which meant I could move about freely, EXCEPT near my hotel, where I was always stopped. Yes, there were NO homeless, mass, K to college schooling, public health, and Fidel is an heroic figure for leading this Revolution. But it still subserviates the people to the state, and this can never be good in the long run.

The healthsystem is exemplary, same the educationsystem. Talk to simple people in the Staates and in Cuba and you understand the difference. To be rich or poor does not always mean money. @elaine31347 Cuba had higher level education and healthcare during USSR days, but now its another story, I had employees tell me horror stories how school teacher would try abuse teenage girls for grades now, most Cubans after 1990s don't know much now. I first visited Cuba in 1992, just after the fall of the USSR. Times were quickly deteriorating. Cubans, esp. Black Cubans, suspect. Authorities thought I was Cuban, which meant I could move about freely, EXCEPT near my hotel, where I was always stopped. Yes, there were NO homeless, mass, K to college schooling, public health, and Fidel is an heroic figure for leading this Revolution. But it still subserviates the people to the state, and this can never be good in the long run.

The healthsystem is exemplary, same the educationsystem. Talk to simple people in the Staates and in Cuba and you understand the difference. To be rich or poor does not always mean money. One really has to live in Cuba to experience the beauty of the system. While the lower infant mortality rate doesn't take into account the very high incidence of abortions (potential high risk births eliminated) it's difficult to accurately assess. As far as higher life expectancy, not sure I believe #'s given by Cuba, but if so, how ironic that people have to live longer under the Fidelista oppression!

As far as the free healthcare, it's also a healthcare without things like aspirin. When we go to the hospital we need to bring our own sheets & supplies. Only ONE nation in Latin America can offer all these "free" things that are substandard. Face it, the Revolution failed the people a long time ago.

And most medical doctors are rent out now to other countries.

Why you don't move from Canada to Cuba. I live there like any other Cuban. Me as Cuban are ashame of your point of view. Unless you are a Communist, that will explain, your point of view. For us Cubans Castro regime is like for the Russian Stalin. Or better if Canada change to the same Socialist regime like in Cuba, will see what you will say later about that.

Me refiero a los "youtubistas"....siempre es lo mismo aquí....los que defendemos a Cuba y su revolución aqui somos de todo el mundo, y los que siempre contestan son los frustrados refugiados con papi Bush.
Ojalá los estadounidenses pudieran de la misma manera enterarse de lo que publican los jóvenes de la FEU, y de otras facultades que luego los bloquean en Google en las oficinas de departamentos de Estado en EE.UU (si, ese país de las libertades y la democracia,pffffhaha),por dar un ejemplo...

los que defienden el castrismo en youtube son de todo el mundo...menos cubanos. ahi tienes un site desde dentro de cuba para que puedas aburrirte de leer que piensa la juventud cubana, tambien puedes entrar a los debates si tienes con que. en youtube solo encontraras cubanos del exterior porque a los de dentro se les bloquea este site, lo tienen prohibido.

Tu sabes que en Cuba tendrías la misma oposición de parte de su población a lo que tu escupes aquí con tus frustraciones individualistas y materialistas que no se te cumplieron en la isla, asi que no te preocupes, que lo que yo te contrargumento te lo contrargumentaría igual un cubano de la isla, y eso es lo que más te duele y te corroe la sangre y lo sabes.

Por cierto, disfruta que recibes internet vía fibra óptica y no por vía satelital como lo recibe Cuba (que es más cara y complicada de recibir), pero que es la única manera de recibirla en Cuba gracias al bloqueo al que el territorio en donde te refugias los tiene castigados, pero venga, sigue siendo ese cubano ejemplar y nacionalista que has sido hasta ahora, haha.

no seas tonto polako, en ese site cubano que te di escribe todo el mundo en cuba, castristas y anticastristas, cualquier estadounidense puede leerlo, o hasta el mismisimo granma si lo deseara, si vas a hablar de algo, al menos informate primero para que no digas estupideces. A los cubanos de la isla le tuvieron bloqueado ese site sin embargo. Visitalo, te hara bien y ojala te decidas a debatir con alguien, no querias jovenes dentro de la isla? ahi los tienes.

por otra parte, que raro que la fantástica policía secreta cubana no haya tenido hasta ahora la "capacidad" de rastrear las ID de las pc de éstos "jóvenes" en la isla, sería interesante ver cómo lo hacen, dónde...y quién comenta en estos sitios, que seguramente son más extranjeros que cubanos...es decir, NO es la opinión generalizada de la población residente en la isla.

No te preocupes, que ya lo he visitado, a mi no me consta que sean todos cubanos de la isla que estén escribiendo ahí de cualquier manera, pero aparte tengo muchas otras fuentes de información acerca de cubanos en la isla, empezando por mi familia, asi que por eso no te preocupes.
Y no seas "oportunista" o "desorientado", al referirme aqui a aquel comentario de por qué siempre responden cosas contra la revolución viejitos y sus hijos residiendo en Miami, a eso me refería y lo sabes bien.
