@castlevania78 I use that emu.If you don't have Sound Canvas, you can get Virtual Sound Canvas.Go to option-config-MIDI to set up MIDI.To boost up the emu,go to BackBuffer-System(to System)
@xan1242 Thanks for the help, xan. I believe my set up has sound canvas. On Akumajo Dracula, the fm synth and the third sound option (sc-55, sc-33, sc-155, etc.) seems to sound fine. The second option definetly sounds off. Most of the samples aren't right. Is there any way to fix this, or is it an issue with sound canvas?
@castlevania78 It has GS,XG and LA,it depends on your type of synth. If you have GS/GM synth, choose GS,if you have LA synth, choose LA.Simple.Its basicly reset message to synth.
There is no remake ont he SNES, there is Super Castlevania 4 on the SNES though (great follow up before all this RPG like stuff you also saw in Simon's quest). To bad they gave it such a bad sequal on the SNES with Dracula X. SUper Castlevania 4, BLoodlines, ROndo of Blood and this one remain my favourite :D
they use the same riff, but everything else is dissimilar. i've noticed it as well. you'll find dozens of similar things among this, bloodlines, castlevania IV, and the Dracula X games, from music to stage elements and especially enemies.
...Whoa, that's interesting. Listen to the music as the water rises, and then listen again to the Prologue music (the "Final Stage" music) from Symphony of the Night. They sound similar.
wait, are you using cheats in the castlevania part.
BLECH.

A cool game, the Roland Sc-88pro also does a supurb job at emulating the SC-55, well it's a successor of the SC-55, SC-55mk2 & SC-88vl.

how did you set this up? Which emulator did you use? I've tried Winx68 High Speed, but the midi music doesn't sound right.

If it still doesn't sound right, use FM synth.

@xan1242 also, what does the Midi initialization option do? I notice it has three options, GM, GS, and XG.

I miss Castlevania games like Super Castlevania 4, Castlevania, Rondo of Blood, BLoodlines, etc.
All this backtracking and Levelling just isn't Castlevania for me. :D.

Probably because Michiru Yamane was the composer for both.

It was just called "Dracula", it was basicly a remixed/updated version of the original.

What Castlevania game was that in the end?
monsterviolence 5 years ago
It was generically named, as Atomicskull said below, but its remade and re-released version on the Playstation is called "Castlevania Chronicles".
