Why are some people here calling her a superstar? I guess people's definition of a 'superstar' and mind are a little bit different. She's a semi-compitent actress at best who needs to get out of the romantic comedy roles for a change. She'd get booed if she even turned up at Eurovision. Europeans like the fact that it's something America has no part in or ruined. She would be lost and confused and look foolish doing it. They prefer bi-lingual speakers from the host country.
she has more sense!! although how funny would it be to see her try to react to the madness that is Eurovision going on around her...she looked like she didn't even know what Eurovision is despite her Greek heritage lmao
her hosting Eurovision in Athens? As an American she won't even know what the event is. And with her terrible Greek how could she present it? And could she do the parts in French? No. In other words a big 'oxi' to her.
But even if Aniston wants to cut the bond does anyone really believe that Greece, a country with such a rich cultural tradition needs to be lifted up through cheap- trashy TV shows like the ESC?
Being the superstar she is, if Aniston had accepted the offer, she would have just given publicity to a contest that does not deserve it. Remember the reactions against Anna Vissi for her choice to participate in the contest..Why would Aniston want to go through that? Just to prove that she has not burned the bridges with her country of origin?Isnt it enough that she has underlined so many times that she is proud of her greek heritage?
I agree completely with trobadouros. Aniston is a very talented and famous actress. Eurovision song contest (ESC) is not very popular even within the countries of Europe let alone the US... The fact that Aniston is of greek descent does not mean that she has to accept any suggestion coming from Greece no matter what. Even the greeks have admitted that the quality of the songs and stage precenses of the contestants in the ESC is not what it used to be.
I think she speaks Greek very well but is uncomfortable speaking it in public. Notice the physical nuance when she says, 'oxi'. Very Greek if you ask me
So, according to you she was obliged to host this particular event, if so invited, out of owed patriotism ? To "lift up" the country ? Well, first of all she's a serious actress. And Greece is i.m.o. not in need of US celebrities to help sponsor her image in a tacky televised music parade. Jennifer has on many occasions let it be known that she is very proud of her Greek heritage. That's enough credit, if you ask me. Please don't call me stupid because you weren't so clear in your 1st statement
I wouldn't bet on it. But obviously she doesn't speak the language fluently enough to have this interview in Greek. That said, I do think that they should have let the interviewer ask the questions in Greek instead of English and have a separate translater available. Would have been much more interesting to see Jennifer react (and for us to test her vocabulary more accurately!).

let's be honest. Jennifer is more famous than eurovision contest. so eurovision would get publicity, not her. and of course she wasn't rude. she was there with a guy from her country and she just wanted to be funny. it would be our honor if she was the hostess of eurovision.
Yes, I agree with you, Jennifer Aniston is more popular than Eurovision speaking in world-wide terms. I mean, I'm not European and I can assure you that Eurovision Song Contest is not very popular in my continent (America), whereas Jennifer Aniston is considered a superstar. Not only because she was once married to Brad Pitt, but also because of her long carreer in show business.
Either way, I think she wasn't rude and it would be great if she hosted Eurovision, but ultimately, it's her choice.
I would rather see her run as a Olympic torch bearer again. Too bad New York lost the bid to host the event in 2012. But I heard Chicago is up for 2016.
OBVIOUSLY its not going to be popular in america hence the EUROvision song contest. its watched by more people than actually live in america so dont go saying its not popular.
I figure people thought of Jen because the word was out that it would be someone from the north-american continent with a Greek background. I never watch Eurovision, but I would have if she were hosting it. As for 'sheer horror on her face' (yeah, right), try picturing her standing next to the winners of that year's contest. A gothic rock-band from Finland looking like the cast of some B-fantasy horrormovie. She would then have uttered 'thee mou'... oh my god. Good thing she was not hosting.
...and she is not rude cause this is her style if u have watched even a little from the 'Friends' u understand what i mean, she is trying to be funny that's all!!!
how is saying "that is a rumour" rude????????? im sorry i fail to see what you are talkin about, so no way am i gonna say she was rude. if she had said something like"where do u people come up with this stupid sh^t"..that is rude, but even then i wud understand where she is comin from because people lie about her FAR too often. i think she was very polite in her response.
she really avoids it and after a lifetime in the Greek daily reality, I can fully understand her

Jennifer Aniston is too much of a superstar to be presenting a shitty, ridiculous gayfest like Eurovision.

Obviously Greece wanted an American host since Maria was given the female presenters job

Correction Eurovision doesn't need Jennifer Aniston. Personally I think Friends is a tacky American comedy.
