This was to the head no doubt about it. Yes Hall had his head down yet that doesn't dismiss the fact that Doughty was intending to hurt Hall. His shoulder and bicep clearly make contact with Hall's head first. This wasn't a blindside hit so there shouldn't have been any kind of suspension however, Doughty did deserve a double penalty or a 10 min misconduct. At least nobody was hurt from this incident

This was to the head no doubt about it. Yes Hall had his head down yet that doesn't dismiss the fact that Doughty was intending to hurt Hall. His shoulder and bicep clearly make contact with Hall's head first. This wasn't a blindside hit so there shouldn't have been any kind of suspension however, Doughty did deserve a double penalty or a 10 min misconduct. At least nobody was hurt from this incident

i'm tired of seeing all these brawls start over perfectly clean hits. That was a great hit by Doughty, maybe it'll teach Hall to skate with his head up, you're in the big leagues now. Not a head shot or dirty hit in any way shape or form.

@Poopsniffers69 Brace yourself as much as you can but its always best to be aware of who is on the ice and where, if you know you are going to have a defenceman pinching in on you then plan for it. But sometimes thats just the way hockey works, you got to take a hard hit to make a play.

Doughty cut towards Hall several seconds before making contact with him. Judging by the impact of the contact, I doubt Hall foresaw the play in any way. This play is an example of Hall's lack of awareness, being ignorant of open passes, shooting directly at the goalie are two others. Bottom-line, Doughty caught Hall with is head down, which is truly an amateur mistake.

Awsome hit. Hall is a physical talent but he's about as smart as a sack of hammers. He is going to get himself killed with stupid play like this. I live in Edmonton and hate this fuckin team. I think Drew Doughty's hit is what what Love is all about. That's a clean hit. Contrary to what the commentators were saying, it was NOT a hit to the head.

That was a CLEAN hit. Elbow was tucked, he lead through with his shoulder and obviously hip. Hall's head was down and Doughty happens to be the taller man.

Hardly Doughty's fault that Hall had his head so far down that he got knocked in the melon by the hip.
Not sure who the announcer is but how can he say "I give Penner a lot of credit for coming to the aid of his young teammate...?"
Enough of this "coming to the aid" of players after a clean hit. Nothing wrong with fighting but each time a player gets creamed with a clean hit it's bush league the guy dishing out needs to defend himself by dropping the gloves.
