  • ah. Dies Irae

  • Nicholson's so good in this it makes me laugh... If you ask me, he is to horror what Hendrix is to guitar.. I mean, its almost a spiritual experience to watch him in this film.

...And its so irritating that many people (my second half) are just too scared to dare watch what has to be one of the most powerful performances on film.

  • i agred best horror movie ever

  • this movie, and Evil Dead 1 - 1981 & Evil Dead 2 - 1987,are the best horror movies of all times.

  • "Hi Lloyd. Little slow tonight isn't it? BHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!"

  • 1:52. Uh. Every heard of a BJ?

  • This movie is actually a kind of subliminal joke. I was reading an analysis of Kubrick's work, and it seems very plausible that Kubrick had 2 kinds of narratives. The surface narrative, which is what most people see in his work, (and therefore, why a lot of people hate 2001, which is probably the greatest movie ever made), and the subliminal narrative. He subliminally throws the Stephen King aspects around as if he is making fun of them, but there's so much more when you find the true messages.

  • @Bassbait robag88

  • @Ilikelimpbizkit Ya man, that's it. He really has a lot to say, and I totally agree. Of course, I kind of am taking his word for it because I don't see this movie often, but after seeing his 2001 reviews and watching the movie repetitively, I have found a great amount of truth in his reviews. That plus his review of Alien. Now I'm just waiting for his WALL-E and Dr. Strangelove reviews.

  • @Bassbait I usually agree with him, but I'm surprised that he didn't find much in Donnie Darko. Personally, I found Donnie Darko to be extremely rich and easy to interpret.

  • @Ilikelimpbizkit Well I haven't seen that one, but all I can say is that he probably didn't find much depth to the film, because sometimes when movies seem to be smart, they are actually not. For example, the movie Se7en seemed to be all genius, but when I thought about it, it's a pretty stupid movie. I want to see his Fight Club Analysis because I found it to be alright, where as Se7en was awful and by the same director. Oh, and Pulp Fiction sucks.

  • look 4 da song "body movin" by J Dilla, its awesome

  • listen dudes the shining is not meant to be fuckin scary its suposed to disturb you and play with your mind. if you want to see distrurbing shit watch pet semetary

  • @doommaster93

    A.K.A., Pshycological horror.

  • This movie is just so fucking scary

  • I'm gonna be honest I tried to watch this movie a while back and it bored the shit outta me. The scariest horror in my opinion was the excorcist

  • i watched this a few month ago, it was scary but not as scary as i thought but tht heres jhonny scene is freaking amazing

  • Totally agree, the best of the best horror movies

  • I dont think the shining is the best movie ever made.

  • redrum? Yikes!

  • Great video!! Good job!! :D

  • I'm tired of people saying this is a comedy. Yes, if it was made today it would be,but in 1980 this was shit yourself horror.

  • man, I still shit myself when I watch this movie, and I was bron in 1991! People are desensitized to how scary this shit really is.

  • I was born in '91 too.

  • Yeah buddeh!

  • ^.^

  • and im not :)

  • What's the music?

  • It's a Shining inspired piece created by a friend.

  • @Halloran2 it's good but another good music choice wouldve been the song that inspired the title for the book by Stephen King: John Lennon - Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)

  • The Kubrick-Floyd Site has a great article on The Shining.

I don't recall the 1.52 thing ever being a close-up, until an advert on UK TV a few months ago.

"what does a snail have to do" [...........] "..leave a really good slimetrail?" - Jacks character in The Bucket List on reincarnation (as interpreted by faiths that even actually know about it)

  • I love the way the actors act here.

    I love the music.

    I love the story.

    I LOVE THIS HORROR ^^

  • @Kradzieyka then u can simply say u love the way kubrick made this movie

  • i looooooooooooooove the shining. b sure to watch our (me and the others who own this accounts) scary movie thats commong out soon. it'll be scarier than anything else before!!!!!! it's called the Underlooke inn. it has a few senens like the shining but not much. the rest is all our ideas. itll be so scary...

  • can someone explain me the 1:52 thing?

  • RE: sleeperthemadripper, The person in the costume and the other guy in the tuxedo? No idea but I suspect they were ghosts of some party ages ago. I think the person in the costume was giving the guy in the tux a blowjob.

Anyone know the music though for this?

  • yeah, i read the book (AWESOOOOOOME) and the guy in the tuxedo was the owner of the hotel and the guy in the costume (which is a dog not a bear) is a gay man who fell in love and stuff...all of you, buy the book, it's amazing!

  • Owner of the hotel is getting blown by his boyfriend that he humiliated by making him dress in a dog suit, he is giving him a blow job.

  • Very well done.

  • Throughout The Shining there seems to be an abundance of symmetry. I love the way Kubrick filmed it, the way he used the camera. Even the scene when Danny is pedalling around the corridors, the 'on/off' the carpets, it's rhythmical, and alluring. Was the aformentioned 'symmetry' intentional?

  • I heard the sound wasn't intentional in the making of the shining on dvd. I wish I could visit that set in London so bad.

  • the shining is an outstanding video. Definitly Stephen King at his best! The book is even better, for those who haven't read it, I encourage you to do so. That book is was got me hooked on King, I read all his stuff now.

I guess Jack Nickelson is a really mean guy in real life. Also, the director for the shining was horrible too. I guess he was a racist, and the black actor who played dick was treated really bad by him.

Oh well, great film all the same

  • I can't think of a better horror film. Can anyone else? You really have to watch the shining more than once. There are so many elements you don't notice watching it.

  • halloween

  • IT, with the clown

  • A great writter

    A great director

    A great actor

    A great movie

  • i agree

  • i dont like jack nocholson as a person (sry jack) but hes really great in that film

  • What a great play from Jack Nicholson.

and a great book from KING!!!!

  • awesome movie, possibly the best adaption of a stephen king novel?

  • yes its the best adaptation ov a stephen king novel

  • What a bloody cool song that is!!

  • i luv this movie it rocks

great video by the way xx

    HERES JOHNNY. lol

  • omg this was labelled an 18 nd me nd me m8s watched it nd found it fucking hilarious aces film though tbf

  • i thought the shinning was a horror movie but when i saw it i felt that it was more a black comedy than a horror movie.

  • love it!

  • the movie wasnt made in the stanley htoel the shining mini series was

  • i hear the Stanley hotel where this was shot is haunted big time! i've seen stuff on the internet and on tv about it

  • actually the movie was shot at the overlook hotel i think its the name its a hotel in colorado

  • nope. everything inside of the hotel was built in a studio

  • um nope it was made in some hotel in colorado look it up

  • Dont be stupid. Everybody knows that it was a set built in Pinewood and Elstree studios.

  • phf ok watever i hope your proud lol loser

  • he s right mate

  • my mum was in it, and she filmed her scene in London

  • All outdoor shots of the hotel were filmed at the Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, Oregon. Everything else was done in the studio.

  • lol!

  • mamma mia lei è bruttissima

  • What was with the photo at the end of the film. I never quite understood how he was here and back in the 1920s un-aged.

  • cool video! I love this movie! "All work and no play makes jack a dull boy" I used to send the new banquet staff member to the supervisor pulling alcohol for the bar that night and tell the new person to make sure they had a bottle of "RedRuM" lol The supervisor would then bend his finger and go "RedRuM!" "RedRuM!" Always good for a laugh!

  • I agree, for sure the best film ever !!!

  • This vid is AWESOME! Thanks!

  • Just kidding. Nice video, I enjoyed it very much. :)

  • The title says "Tribute to the Greatest Movie ever made", but the video has got nothing to do with Life of Brian. You're a fuckin' liar, dude. :P :D

  • how did they make the blood pour into the room. that wasnt explained during the making of the film.

  • Can someone answer a question, please don't get my back saying i never saw the movie, blah blah blah.....because I DIDN'T. Bu i've heard and seen clips, but anyways. What the fuck is up with that bear at clip 1:50.....this seems like a freaky movie

  • it's the ghost of some guy who liked to dress up in a bear suit and go down on people.

  • In the book it was a dog..

Nonetheless, great movie, one of the best horror movies.

  • oh yeah your right, I have read the book . In the movie it does look a bit like a bear costume.

  • in the book danny sees it in the hall, and he says i am going to eat your little cock. STRANGE MAN but i love the bit in the movie, but they should have used the bear clip like in the book. in fact, i saw somewhere they were going to,but they thought Danny shouldnt hear language like that.

  • lol I was TERRIFIED when i read that part. even tho im a girl i thought he was comin 4 me lol :P

  • lol i wouldnt walk in the hallway of my house for days XD

  • thanx lol

  • The Stephen King/Mick Garris miniseries is a masterpiece. But the Stanley Kubrick film is awsome!

  • does that black dude die?

  • yeah he gets owned by the dad

  • with the axe?

  • yep right in the chest

  • It seems to me that the black man always dies. No offence to any african americans on youtube but it is odd.

  • @Downs2440

you'd think they'd live more often considering they can run so much faster than us white folk. lol

    jk.

  • I can, I have only seen the older version of it, and I like that one, wonder if Iam gonna like this more or less?

  • I bet King thought in Nicholson while creating Jack Torrance... no one could make it better

King and Kubrick... two f***in' geniuses

  • Actually, King was pretty disappointed with the fact of Jack getting the role as Jack Torrance. If I were King I would have been honored.

Idon´t know. I just read it somewhere

  • Really? Now I'm surprised o_O

Anyone here can think in another Jack Torrance? I can't.

  • Neither can I. :)

  • rutgerhauerfan is right, King was disappointed, mainly because Jack Nicholson was already known for his portrayal of an insane asylum patient in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". So King thought everyone would KNOW that Jack is going to turn out insane in the end, that it wouldn't be surprise.

I guess he's right about that, but I still think Jack Nicholson was THE man for the job, at the time.

  • This really is one of the scariest movies of all time

  • Is the full bathroom clip online?

  • im just gonna bash your brains in lol

  • "Wendy, darling, light of my life," LOL

  • this is a true horror flick. they can not make em like this anymore.
