to make a completely new flavor, i was wondering if you knew how many packs of gelatin a box of jello contained...i wanted to make my own colors and flavors without the use of a jello/ kool-aid box. any help would be greatly appreciated
@FlullyFly i haven't had any problem since i wait for it to cool a bit before i pour and it does peel off. you could always use glass and grease it, but that does add a flavor that's not great, or just dig it out of the pan if you don't mind wrecking it but the metal could add a flavor too
Cirtic acid?Whats that?If someone replies and tells me i will sub.Oh and btw please don't call me dumb just because i dont knoqlw what it means.Im only 8
@hyperhayoung oh citric acid makes things sour like in a lemon its a citric fruit. there is another type of acid that makes things sour its called malic acid DO NOT USE THAT IN YOUR CANDY if you have tasted warheads you would know
@JEFFLISI it takes a couple hours to get really cold and chewy, but if you leave it uncovered and turn them, they just keep getting chewier as they dry out. personally, i don't like them that chewy and tend to eat them before they get like that
Be reeeeeeeallly careful about the citric acid... you don't want to put too much! I won't tell you in the video how much I'm putting in, just be reeeeeaaaally careful!
@mictain666 it is a soft gummy at room temp, chewy when cold, and if you leave them in a bowl uncovered in the fridge for a couple of days and turn them, they are really really gummy chewy even at room temperature.
@JakeAHarris try coating them with a few drops of coconut oil :)
you might want to dust them in corn starch and then place them in a empty can with a few drops of coconut oil and swirl them around to coat them evenly
@YourDubstepSource it adds more flavour and some sourness, so you'd probably be ok to up the amount of citric acid by 5ml or so instead unless you can get some kind of cold drink mix that you have to add sugar and water, stay away from the sugarfree stuff
When your cutting, pinch your blade. Make sure so your arm will not get tired, also when cutting anything make sure you have the tip of the blade on the cutting board, the rock it back anf fourth in a rocking motion. Sorry XD, Im in culinary, I just wanted to correct that.:)
Great find the taste is awesome. One problem. After I pulled it out of the fridge there was a layer on the bottom about 1/8" thick that was hard. What did I do wrong?
@jpserv123 did you stir it up before pouring it out? and how long did you let it cool at room temp before putting it in the fridge? if you put it in the fridge right away and the shelf was very cold, that might do it.
I started to cringe when you began cutting out the cubes. Use a damp cloth under the cutting board, because that slip 'n slide you've got going will cost you a finger someday.
i have a quick question ... if i dont want it sour i dont need citric acid right? and this video is great im making it for my class party wich is in 3 days :D
@MrTerror97 you can try but the flavor will definitely be missing something and it may affect the viscosity as well, i.e. it may be more watery and less chewy. but if you do, please let me know how they turned out.
i tried it and it acutally turned out amazing! it tasted sooo good and it was actually sour! i added a little more citric acid cus i like this super sour but it was an AMAZING recipie! thank you soooooo much <3 i hope everyone tries this!!!!!!!
@bubbles123ily the added gelatin does firm it up. it would likely be possible to remove the jello, add more gelatin and sugar/corn syrup and koolaid to achieve a firmer consistency, but as i told someone earlier, the easiest route would be to experiment with the amount of liquid.
until you try it as is, it's difficult to say what changed result you want since it's quite good as it is.

It is the chemical that makes the gummies taste really sour.
