  • what is this song's meaning........... i'm normally good at this sorta stuff but i think i'm too young to work it out

  • @REDnWHITEarmyFTM This song is about life...the beauty of spring, pretty girls, childhood innocence, seasons in the sun...it's about the pitfalls of life, too much wine, sorrow, feeling isolated and finally dying...despite it all...even with the birds singing, children playing...a season for everything...sad, happy, brilliant and profound. For some reason this song has always moved me.

  • I'm only 12 and i think it is the best song EVAR!!!!!!

  • Terry Jacks is just toooooooooo cute in this video :))))

  • Lots of old memories

  • I always relate this song to my dear old car, had it years and years and it`s worthless but it`s cost me next to nothing and has taken me all over the country on some lovely holidays and adventures, I love it like a member of the family, daft I know haha!!

  • I think you can only relate to this song once you reach a certain age.

  • Dadik nor, kapan yo arek ketemu meneh. Awan mbengi nyong ngelengke kuwe.

  • "Seasons in the Sun" is an English-language adaptation of the song "Le Moribond" by Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel

  • Hey you, folks out there !! I learned that this song means a soldier being sent to Vietnam who is saying good bye to the most valued persons in his life, friends, family and the loved one.

  • It's interesting to see how this song transfomed from the Canadian to the American version. In the process it literaly became a different song. A better yet sadder song for the generation that forgot about it because they, as far as I know did not use it as a commercial. Come on young folks --don't be the greedy jerks your parents are.

  • gud song.. one must listen to it..

  • good song

  • So much negativity over one song, you guys are pathetic...

  • you are pathetic to not have feelings about our lost young soldiers

  • This song is NOT about soldiers dying, and as far as I can nobody has mentioned ANYTHING about soldiers dying as well. So maybe you should read the posts a bit more carefully.

  • One of the most depressing songs ever.

  • 15 with my heart broken for the first time and this song on the radio every 15 minutes, yep, a bottle of pills, but luckily I got found

  • This song was played at my best friend's funeral. He was killed in a drunk driving accident. Now everytime i hear this song, i can't help but get teary eyed and cry because like Jacks' lyrics, me and him had seasons in sun.

  • great comment, but also brings up anger.

  • My brother died by the time that Terry did this song wich was his favorite, He was 13 and still tears come to my eyes when I listen to it. May peace be with you!

  • Great video, but it's not karaoke. It's Terry Jacks who made it a hit, performing it.

  • das is das geilste lied der welt

  • This isn't karaoke. It's a song with words written over it.

  • nirvana did it 20 years after the song was done so there is a big differnce in the sound thats all

  • The original song was written by Jacques Brel from Belgium. Jacques died just 30 years ago. The song is called "le moribond" (the dying man".

me pregunto cómo conseguí seguir adelante

  • This is not karaoke but sing-along. Great song anyway.

  • sad sad song

  • My dad love this song, so an i

  • i love this song so much.

  • - Dont mean anything bad, just saying... i like the nirvana version a lot better.

  • me too, nirvana is awesomez

  • Nirvanna doesn't even sing the correct lyrics at times. In my opinion, they sound stoned and drunk while attempting to sing this classic.

  • whos the original singer

  • This song makesme cry, cause remindsme when i was a kid, my father hitme always when i misbehaved.

  • Good day ,

I think like everyone this was a beautifull song but very sad, shame the popy familly did not last more than 5 years !! you can see Terry jacks in vancouver on his boat "seasons in the sun " and if you say hi he will smile and talk to you a real down to earth fellow. i was in the hospital alot as a kid and yes, you never heard the song only when I was able to go home I would hear the song can't miss Susan jacks singing background so pretty & looked great in a mini skirt

  • Great Video

  • esta cancion llega alas fibras del corazon

  • I will return to the Czech Republic this song reminds me because I was in love because

  • It can be interesting, that Czech version of this song is not about dying. It is a song of a man leaving his childhood and starting his own real life...

  • This is the song from my childhood that I remember the most. If memory serves I think it was banned from all hospital radio stations because it was so sad.

  • you have an excellent memory. It was indeed banned from hospitals as it was too sad. I thought it was brilliant and could have reduced the NHS inpatient cost considerably!

  • this song reminds me of my dad so much fukkin alcohol

  • a guilty pleasure...sappy beyond belief..

  • This song was playing on the radio when my family and I were on the way to my dad's best friend's funeral. This song always reminds my dad of him. Really was like an uncle to me too. Really sad.

  • this is about his brother when he was on his death bed... he wrote it for him

  • Are you sure Cairoladd? Seek Le Moribond here in youtube

  • I was once told that this was an old German song entitled, "Auf Wiedersehn Emile, mein lieber Freund"? Was it hijacked into English, or not?

  • like it (:

  • jauqes brel! Go to hell! rod mckuen, human ruin!

  • Nice song ..remind me of my humble childhood in a small village bau.

  • whats this song about\

  • I'm pretty sure it's about a soldier dyin'.

  • o

    ok

  • :`( thats a bummer because my bro died in Iraq

  • i think its just about suicide, the person who wrote it commited suicide i think

  • cud be wrong tho

  • great song.sad very sad :(

  • thanx :)

  • I remember being told this song was banned in hospitals at the time due to people hearing it and getting depressed. SO did they maybe run around turning radios off if it came on!! ha ha there seems to be alot of urban myth connected to this song. thanks it is one of the echos of my youth songs along with flares chopper bikes and fab ice lollies...and they just dont make em the same any more.

  • The song was originally written in French-

    Le Moribund (Dying Man).

  • ññññññññññññ

  • I like this song, I first heard it in a movie from my country an jus liked it straight away.

  • omg. i love this song, its so sad though, and it makes me cry!

  • Great lyrics! And probably better than Nirvana version coz at least the lead didn't kill himself...And pants are really funny :D

  • Outstnding!

  • I like this song its so sad, my mums bestie pased away yesterday :(

  • ohhh i am so srrry i dont even know u but srrrrrrryyyy :( :( :(

  • who r u talking too

  • I love this song, but how come he isn't wearing any pants?

  • i like the nirvana cover better cuz this ones to sad and he kinda looks like the singer/drummer from the eagles

  • the sadness is what makes the song

  • Great! One of my favorites!

  • Great Poetry! Great melody and not every song has to be happy!

  • Wow lyrics are amazing A+

  • The Kingston Trio did this long before this guy and their version is appropriately MUCH darker.

  • love this song. Thank You!

  • God is this song depressing!!!!!!!!!!

  • but also beautiful

  • i hope my kids remember me when im gone with this song, love you sons.

  • He stopped recording due to an American embargo on recording tape (the only source of it in the world), Terry being a Canadian was not able to obtain any fresh recording tape so he "stopped recording". In a recent interview Mr. jacks still did not know about the advent of digital recording, In his mind his career is still in limbo due to lack of tape.

  • so is he delusional or something? because its kind of ironic and sad that a potentially great career should be stalled over something as trivial as that

  • I too used to think he was delusional however after watching an interview from 10 years ago he talked all about his CD collection, later in the interview he brought out sequined gowns, wedding dresses and a nurse's uniform, initially I was confused however in hindsight I think CD might have meant something else.

  • takes you back what asong

  • this song remembers me of when i was a boy and i went to the beach with my mates but sadly after this my best mate lost his dad, who drove us to the beach that day. Rab gone not forgotten.

  • drsur, I was joking when I said that because I don't really care about rap. I don't consider your comments offensive towards myself at all, but I'm sure that they don't do your country any good! Really, settle down a bit!

  • i remember listenign to this as a kid but i was too young to understand it, now i'm older and i do, does anyone know the reason behind this song i heard it was cuz he was dying or something. If anyone could inform me i'd appreciate that

  • Yes i do agree with u i was small aswell and agree this the song of all times, and it will be played on my funeral.

This was actually a poem some dude dying wrote to his wife Terry just put it to good use if u search on google u will find the story there, verry nice. Is there a way to download this ?

  • try to embed button

  • Well, like I said, it is a translation of Le Moribond (and not Ne me quite pas like someone else said!) by Jacques Brel...who did wrote the song because HE was dying.

Pfth, sorry if you found one of my comments offensive, it's not intended.

  • Le Moribond was written in 1961,Jacques Brel was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1973 and finally died in 1978. So he obviously didn't write it 'cause he was dying !!! I have found that Terry Jacks' best friend had died just before he recorded this song.

  • Got me there. You're right.

  • hey, chill out dude, i was being serious. i heard that when this song was first broadcast on the airwaves, a number of people were so moved by its melancholic nature that they took their own lives. imagine how terry must have felt about that.

  • trying to make yourself feel better?

  • hey guys, you wanna go easy on terry jacks, i heard that several people very close to him blew their heads off with shotguns after hearing this song. so give the guy a break OK

  • sapiens. The reason why I was interested in this song is because the original (french, named "Le Moribond") version is written by a Belgian chansonnier named Jacques Brel. (French is one of the three spoken languages in Belgium) I'd suggest you have listen to some of his songs, you might like it.

  • Haha drrsur, take it easy man. I actually happen to like the song!

But seriously, if you want to offend someone for whatever reason DO NOT refer to homosexuals, dildo's and prime numbers! Terry, you and I know that doesn't work for most people!

  • it's not like rap has no meaning. It's about getting laid and stuff, like duh.

  • terry jacks me off

  • What it means?

  • haha I can't get over that comment of yours, terry jacks me off fucking hell

  • i dearly love this butifull

    song verry much

  • Thx putting the karaoke version on :) Its better than the other that i found, more time to read the lyric :)

  • esta con madre, subanla en español

  • MUY BUENO.

  • MUY BUENO.

  • some male female duo also recorded it, before terry's version. all i remember is the LP had an orange jacket.

  • I think this is possibly the gayest song I've ever heard. But I don't care, I still like it cuz it reminds me of when I was little.

  • If you think this is the gayest song you have ever heard then you obviously haven't listened to Samwell's "What what".

  • This song was soooooo popular when I was 4. I loved it! It was sad, but thoughtful. It reminds me of sunny days at the swimming pool with all of the popular songs of the day blaring out on the speaker while I got more freckles and blisters and my brother and sisters left me in the shallow end with the pea while they had fun in the deep end. Just my memories with this song : ).

  • ostias que grande es este tio.....

  • :) please translate

  • Hi drmediaus! Thanks for this song. I remember this song from my teen days, it was my best friend's fav song
