He stopped recording due to an American embargo on recording tape (the only source of it in the world), Terry being a Canadian was not able to obtain any fresh recording tape so he "stopped recording". In a recent interview Mr. jacks still did not know about the advent of digital recording, In his mind his career is still in limbo due to lack of tape.

Le Moribond was written in 1961,Jacques Brel was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1973 and finally died in 1978. So he obviously didn't write it 'cause he was dying !!! I have found that Terry Jacks' best friend had died just before he recorded this song.
