  • I needed a good laugh...reading the comments ...came across the one stating that a new Sony sounds better..laugh OUT LOUD! SONYS ARE JUNK TODAY! I've collected for years...only problem i have ever had was after buying second hand Sony receivers for surround sound. My first receiver was a Marantz

...almost 40 years later it is stiil going strong! That is reality of the state of affairs as the collector here certainly knows.

  • I own an SR-930

  • @earnhardtfanthree 130 watts per channel...

  • Magnificient wow.

  • I'm a little jealous

  • Music is by Tangerine Dream, but please help me which album...? Great equipment.

  • Really wonderful collection! My buddy still has his original monster Marantz receiver from the '70's. He's had it refurbished and it is a wonderful sounding piece of audio history.

  • Es un taller o una coleccion?

  • man i just love those aluminum face radios

  • Tannoy speakers and a mcintosh receiver is my dream and i already have Tannoy speakers

  • Hi, I'm the second asking.... what song is that at the video background???

Very good music... please let me know, thanks

  • Amazing collection !

  • R u in Atlanta?

    770-533-1044

  • nice collection, would a 1060 and a 140 be a good combination. I'm lookin for a nice vintage hifi setup and I love Marantz.

  • What song is that as the background audio? Is it by the Allan Parsons Project?

  • I found an excellent 2230B in the dumpster and sold it on ebay for a couple of hundred. Wish I woulda kept it.

  • They don't make audio equipment like that anymore. I'm currently listening to this through a "Fisher" stereo from about 1985. I've also added a 15" Eminence speaker in a homemade box. It sounds surprisingly good, considering it's a piece of crap.

  • I'll never forget June 1975, I auditioned the Marantz 2325 into a pair of Cerwin-Vega 217R loudspeakers. It was the first time I can remember hearing music reproduced at levels of dynamics that were equivalent to live.

My favorite power amp back then was the Marantz 500.

I do realize that these early transistor amps with their high open loop gain and V/I limiters made them sound gritty, but there was a mystique to the Marantz cosmetics that I loved no matter what.

  • @krypekeeper no, these are mostly from the 60's en 70's. only a few are from the 80's.

I don't like sony, i just finished a TA-N80 and TA-E80 ES from sony. These are sony's biggest and finest....

I don't want sony equipment for free !!!

  • @HAL4400 i was using sony as an example.....

  • @HAL4400 Yet, another form of ear and eye candy.

  • @HAL4400

Hahaha good reply. Really good collection. Why no MacIntosh from the same era?

  • @krypekeeper Sony is for people who don't know much about stereo equipment !!!

  • @quebop NO SHIT!

  • @krypekeeper the best amplifiers are the old ones. I have a marantz pm 520 dc and it's very good

  • one of the baddest vintage audio videos on youtube. music is perfect.the collection is way beyond respectable. sinc, jay peace

  • @danocean111213 Oh, and thanks for using decent music. Normally I have to mute the audio on many of these videos, but this was actually enjoyable to listen as well as watch.

  • Great collection! Just curious, are you familiar with the MR-235 receiver from the time that Marantz was bought out? If so, I'm curious about your opinion of it. I have that receiver and like it, but as I haven't heard any of the older models I was wondering how it compared. Thanks!

  • @jcg75 yes, It's a cheaper version of the 2200B series.

The 2200B are already cheaper made. The Mr 235 is not bad, but usually the FM tuners crap out due to bad caps and bad stereo decoders. Sound great..

  • @HAL4400

Hi, thanks so much for your comments! The FM tuner works fine right now, though the dial pointer is slightly off. Actually, the only issue with mine is that it has a slight pop when powered on, and a little tick when turned off. Do you know what might be causing that and if it's something to be concerned about? Thanks again!

  • @jcg75

There is a capacitor 400vac 0.022uF or 0.1uF parallel to the power switch. You need to replace it for the ticks and plops when switching it on. But these model do need a litlle bit of time to stabilize (capacitors in power supply) make the plop sound when switching on.

  • @HAL4400

Thank you so much for the info!

  • great souvenir

  • Wonderful, nice toys

  • what is the best sounding marantz amplifier/receiver/power amplifier in your opinion?

  • @nokia3210fuck The smaller ones like the 1060 1030 very good sound, and the B versions 1122DC1152DC 1180DC=(3250B 170DC)

For the more clean sound you got the American build model like the 1200B and such

  • @nokia3210fuck Marantz CD players are amazing but their amps are not worth the money get Arcam

  • what do you think about the marantz 2600?

  • @nokia3210fuck I have both 2500 and 2600 here. great sounding receivers. very power full. these amps do have amplifier bias issues and the power supply big caps 80V 8000x2 ( x2 again) tend to blow up.

  • Comment removed

  • what do you think about Marantz 1300DC?

  • @nokia3210fuck i'm going to post a clip about this amplifier. i also have a Pm8 here. But the 1300Dc is not so reliable. I have managed to get it up and running to 100%. But STILL i will not expect it to function every morning for the coming 10 years... The Pm8 is better!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Just purchased the PM6003 and CD6003 in the silver finish. Although fairly new products, they still ooze old skool cool in their aesthetics.

  • i got a 2330b itz a monster!!!

  • When did Marantz sell out to the Japanese ?, when was their transitional period---"designed in USA~built to specifics in Japan" ?, it seems Harmon Kardon & Fisher did the same.

  • In 2000 or 2001.

  • Vintage Marantz , nothing compares to it

  • very true ! marantz rocks

  • Very beautiful styling as well as Pioneer, different but each in its own way, a tie.

  • Wow! I love Marantz... I have 250M, 3200, 1122DC and a 2270

  • love youre nick

  • Your 2330B looks like my 2265B lol

  • Whats music is that?

  • heres 1 for ya. marantz (superscope calif) had a 10" monster reel to reel machine too. an over built sony i suspect. i saw it. touched it in the 70's. you should scout it out for that collection.

  • i love old Marantz gear. I have a vintage Marantz 8B tube amp when Marantz was made in America. It has been completely parts upgraded and converted to triode operation. I have not heard another amp I would rather use.

  • My stylus for my Marantz 6350Q Record player is old, do you know what size I need to replace it?

  • I LOVE JAPAN

  • Comment removed

  • @mikrokosmik

Could be worse, he could have put up Drowning Pool.

  • incredible......very very nice pieces you have.....

  • Those flywheel tuning dials were just the best thing ever!

  • The only modern components that still have that kind of visual appeal, are Macintosh. Nice, if you can afford them .

  • Tube amplifier is the best amplifier for bass.

  • any idea how much a tt130 turntable is worth on the market?

  • I still have my 2230 and 2440 quadraphonic system from the mid 70,s. It was eye candy back then and I still can't part with it. Enjoyed seeing the collection!

  • I have a CDR-1 but its black. I cant find any info on it. I also have a Marantz model 3200 preamp. The preamp needs a little repair to the back panel and it needs its pots cleaned but its otherwise fine.

  • oh my god marantz i love this brand ..i had a maranzt 2285 b but one of the vu meters is brocken than a light is broken. ..one month ago i sell it by ebay..for 354 euros..

  • Beautiful collection. I have owned many of these (except the reel 3 reel, WOW). I prefer the Model Eighteen, even over the Nineteen with regards to Solid State.

  • Nice collection, I hope you are playing some better music through that gear, Just kidding, I have the Nineteen myself and am very happy with it. Getting easier to find others that are interested in these things, take care.

  • I noticed you slipped a piece of Pioneer gear in there. Nice stuff man. When I was kid I used to dream of owning a Marantz 2325 receiver. I now have a Marantz 8b instead.

  • Very beautiful vintages. Congratulations!

What the music you used in this video?

  • Tangerine Dream - Charly The Kid (ost from Firestarter)

  • Now you could top it off if you had a pair of original 8Bs to go with your setup !!!!

    Yeah---I know---DREAM ON !!!!

  • pairs??? 8B is stereo???

    i only need one with a 7C or T pre amp and a 10B tuner.. (i have 20)

  • I got my 2275 receiver at a flea market for 67.00,chewed the guy down.Goes great with my JBL 4412a's.BTW thats a beautiful tuner...

  • Absolutely amazing deal! Flea Markets are the best place to find anything and everything. I do a lot of my rare findings at flea markets. I Don't know how I would live if flea markets didn't exist :P

  • nice receiver - nice music! i guess its Tangerine Dream but i can't remember the name of the track or the album. Can you help me? Thanks

  • yes, it's charlie the kid of tangerine dream.

  • Back in the 1970s, Marantz had a full page magazine ad that chronicled one of their receivers that survived a house fire. It had been dropped 15' by the fire/demo crews into a mud puddle, it's front badly melted and the wood case burned off, but the owner dried it out and it played perfectly when powered up. Amazingly 'bullet proof'.

  • yeah good line made for last forever very strong construction of this line all aluminiun and iron chassis

  • nice stuff i have a pair of hd880 and a pair of 940s wouldnt part with them for the world need a differant amp though i have a 2230

  • Hi HD880 are nice Big speakers. very tall and a good sounds. refoam you woofers if they need it.

2230 is an older marantz receiver build:1972/1975 nice discrete machine!.

  • Keep the 2230,just connect a power amp to its pre-outs.

  • Might just do that :)

  • wow wow beautiful stuff, don't makem like than anymore :(.. what do u have for speakers?

  • thanx for commenting.

    I have a pair of B&W DM6 speakers

  • nice:) great to see people who appreciate good qualty equipment along with quality music.. thanks:)

  • I have to say you have there not only some jewells, but mostly the whole jewelry. Congrats, men. Years ago I was an owner/user for a nice lot of the best units shown in your video... but I have to say your Pioneer RT-909 looks extremely beautiful. Merry Christmas, Diego

  • Oh, the reciever is beautiful.

  • Leuk man!

  • Always thought the 4400 was their most attractive receiver. Looks especially when you put it in the wood case and fire up the scope. The 1200B's inside is pretty similar to the Model 30 in overall design.

  • Yes indeed,

both 1200B and 30 are American made models. (A line) they have better prints and better componentens (motorola, Dale resistors etc)

the 4400 has two different types green 1973/1975 blue scope 1976/1977.

little differentces. But better designed then the 2500 stero!

  • what is model on 3:39 ?

  • hi ,

That inside view is from the marantz 1200B amplifier. 2x100watts

  • Thats orginal pcb?:> look really good

  • yes they are, pertinax type.

all marantz from The US have blue pertinax prints..

    really good quality.

  • Marantz always made the most aesteticly attractive equipment. Beautiful shots and artfully put together.

  • indeed it always looked good untill philips bought 50% of their stock.

50% supecrscope was the esotec line

50% philips were those Pm thingh that always break down.

  • Spettacolo!!!provo un pò di invidia!!!bella anche la musica!

  • Hi, what do you think of single power amps MA-5 of Esotec series?

I have a pair, but unfortunately the power transformer primary coil is open on one of them. Any idea if it worth fixing? Do you know any other units with simular power trans?

Thanks in advance for cooperation, not a lot of people know what you are know about Marantz and the rest of gear.

  • they are very rare models!!!

I would really search a way to fix them.

I think the MA6 are the same

but other then those models the are quit destinctive.

    jon

  • I totally agree,

If you buy a amp for say +- 1500 euro=1700 USdollar. you will get crappy prints, bad designed boards, and a very high pitched sound.

I have had the SA9800 super power. whaha

    1 valve amp audio space A8 2x55watts 2x20watt triode nice sound!!!(4xKT88)

  • Great collection!! - Marantz should try to build Audio Systems like this again. - Thanks for posting.

  • yes indeed,

    pioneer sa9100 tx 9100

    sa 9500MKII 8500MKII

    RT707 909 2022

    Good stuff!!!

ooh don't forget the spec series

  • with that collection you must fell very lucky.this is my dreams about pure soud :)

  • Well lucky, yes and no.

i like a lot of stuff.

But teh reel things a haven't had yet.

    marantz 500 15 18 19 i like those really...

  • Nice gear!

I am loving the separates, the 4400 and Model 19. :)

Those 5220s are getting hard as heck to fins these days, awesome decks!

  • what kind of reciver is that at 00:44

  • Hi, it is not a receiver it is a tube tuner, Saul marantz his first.

    the model 10B

You can see it often on ebay.

  • marantz 510 510M 250M

  • Thankyou i was just asking because i have a marantz model 1150 stereo console amplifier and i was buying a power amp to go with it and i was wondering which one matched it.

  • Great vid man! u have all of the best equipment there is. But what model power amp was that at 1:20 that went with the stereo console?

  • marantz 140 power amp
